Cons: Does not vacuum well enough unless you put a small amount in bag.

My wife and I recently decided to buy a vacuum sealer to help save some our garden veggies, bulk purchases and wild game. I did my research and this one sounded great. Everyone seems to love it. Well maybe I am just more demanding about the word VACUUM. The word vacuum means " to remove all air". Well this thing does NOT remove all air from alot of the items I wished to preserve.

I recently sealed some venison. (This was my main reason for the purchase) The design is simple and very easy to operate, but the vacuum quits way to early and begins to seal the bag way before all of the air is out. The air is sucked out of the top of the bag great, but it leaves several air pockets in the bottom of the bag even when you manualy try to push the air to the top. I noticed that when you put smaller amounts in the bag it would vacuum much better. However, these bags are expensive and it is not economical to put small amounts in each bag.

Bottom line..... I expected more after reading great reviews on this product.

Way over priced. This unit should be selling for less than ˝ of what they are charging. Bags are somewhat questionable in quality. Many bags leak a few days after sealing. Canisters all leak. Not industrial quality. Replacement tape for the heater strip cost FIFTY dollars plus shipping. They will not sell the tape. You must return the unit for service. My tape needed replacing in less than a year.
You can’t even order the simplest part, like a gasket, online. The customer non-service line is painful slow and it may take you 5 minutes to find out the office isn’t open.

BUY YOUR TAPE STRIP REPLACEMENT AT ULEAD. $24 for a lifetime supply.

I would not purchase another Foodsaver. I sure there are better vacuum sealers around for home use.
