Pros: A lot of memory, ability to toggle programs, the TiVo service is solid. Cons: Not HD compatible
The TiVo R54080 80-hour DVR is a pretty good machine for recording digital cable. We bought one a few months ago, and it worked really well for us. We had an older model that only held 40 hours of programming, which was not enough for two busy people who ...
Pros: Watch show from beginning while its being recording, music & photos on displayed on TV Cons: Programming sometimes misses beginning or end of shows. $13 per month service fee.
I got this unit for Christmas and was using it the next day without any problems. The unit easily connects audio, left and right to your stereo and video output to your TV. I use Comcast cable for the input. It also needs to phone home to Tivo, either ...
Pros: basic PVR functionality, speculative recording is nice. Cons: no skip, limited search, terrible modem setup, lousy customer support.
INTRODUCTION After comparing Dish DVR, Tivo, and ReplayTV, I can only conclude that people who "love" Tivo have never used ReplayTV or even the Dish DVR. Although Tivo is an order of magnitude better than "old fashioned" live TV + VCR, it is ...
Pros: VERY easy setup, easy to follow menus, versatile & expandible. Cons: Connecting to a home network can be challenging.
I have had family and friends hounding me for months about TiVo. My sister-in-law and her husband have 2, and networked them together to share recordings across their house. I resisted at first, partly because I'm stubborn, and partly because I knew deep ...
Pros: Easy use, new features, TV around your schedule, not your schedule around TV Cons: Need a battery-backup and network adapter. CS in India
When I first saw Tivo on the market it was over 5 years ago and in infomercial. They touted the benefits of Tivo, etc and I thought it was a good idea, but to pay for information that was free? Why, oh why would I want to do that? Almost 16 months ...
Pros: Great software, Multimedia capabilities are very nice Cons: Doesn't support HDTV, no recording one show while watching another when using a receiver
Prior to TiVo I was using the Comcast digital cable box with built in HDTV tuner. Having received the TiVo box for Christmas, I went to set it up only to realize that the Series 2 TiVo box doesn't support HDTV. Their website states : A TiVo Digital ...
Pros: Excellent user interface, easy setup, tivo-to-go Cons: Possible flagging of shows by FCC in the future.
I knew I might want to check into this Tivo thing when I found out my mother-in-law was a Tivo junkie - and she doesn't have a techno-bone in her body! Seriously, this is not a just for a man type of technology. It works so easily, my 3-year-old ...
Pros: Ease of use, accurate, and fun! Cons: Not very customizable. Monthly fee
I received this as a gift and I wasn't sure just how much I'd use it. I had heard people say things like "It changes the way you watch TV" and "I watch TiVoed shows more than live shows". After using it for a couple days I thought they were greatly ...
Pros: Never miss a show again. Cons: None. Maybe the monthly fee?
Since anyone can record their shows with an ordinary VCR, I'll skip the obvious and focus on the things that set Tivo apart from a VCR. Season Pass - With the season pass feature you can record every episode. You can choose to record only first runs ...
Pros: Watch TV on your own terms; no commercials Cons: Can't record 2 shows at the same time
I couldn't write a title with the exact sound the Tivo makes, but it makes a cool sound when you use the DVR feature. I bought my Tivo about 3 years ago and have since sold it on ebay, but when I had it I have to say I really liked it. I bought a ...
Pros: You will never miss your favorite shows again, no more comercials Cons: No longer offer life time subscription
I received this TIVO for Christmas from my husband. I said “nice present you bought yourself” as I did not think I would use such a device. Wow was I ever wrong! I HATE watching regular TV anymore. Or even going to the movies. TIVO has me so spoiled, ...
Pros: Easy to use. Tivo customer service is wonderful. Cons: My first one broke.
I can’t say enough good things about TIVO. A TIVO DVR recorder digitally records all of your favorite shows. No longer do you need an old VCR with bulky cassette tapes. No more trying to program the time you want a show to record and then realize you ...
Pros: recording space, easy setup, quiet operation Cons: only operated by remote, phone line hook-up required
I just purchased the new Dual Tuner 180 model from Tivo.com directly. This seemed to be the best price on offer, though I have read that the service for returns or problems is poor. The package came days earlier than expected and I was eager to set ...
Excellent, but don't buy this one!!! by lonebuffaloe ,Oct 13 '06
Pros: Great for people who aren't home when their favorite shows are on Cons: You can't watch one thing and record another
I an definitely a believer in TIVO, but instead of getting this model, you should get the Series2. It allows you to watch one channel while recording another, this model doesn't. This may not seem like a big deal, but it will be; especially once you find a bunch of new programs that you like but just never knew about. TIVO is a great investment, but get the upgraded version.
