Pros: Great selection, almost anybody can find lots of things to eat. Cons: Weekend dinner at $23.95 is pricey, and waits can be long.
Even though we had seen some mixed reviews, my wife and I headed out last night to the Todai in Woodfield mall (Schaumburg IL) for dinner. We didn't listen to the instructions to get there right as they open. We got their about half and hour after ...
Pros: Pick what looks good that night, good selection Cons: Pricey, can get noisy and crowded
We ate at the Seattle location Friday night. I hadn’t even heard of Todai before, we were wandering the shopping area looking for a place to eat, and there it was. We both love Sushi, and while I balked a bit at the $25 price tag each, hubby reminded ...
Pros: All you can eat for a reasonable price. Cons: Not as fresh as other sushi restaurants.
Todai is an all-you-can-eat sushi and Japanese food restaurant chain in Southern California. They can be found in Glendale, Studio City, Torrance, and Woodland Hills.
If you want the finest sushi, then Todai is not the place to go. Naturally...
Pros: Wide variety of psuedo Asian foods Cons: It all tastes like it was mass produced in an commissary off-site and brought in.
What it wants to be:
Todai presents itself as a modern, clean and contemporary sushi house. It wants to be the solution to everyone's desire for unlimited fresh sushi and seafood. It spends oodles of money on marketing to get that message...
Pros: All you can eat Cons: If you like baby octopus salad
I just had my first experience at Todai in Northern California. Looks like everyone say this is a Southern California chain, but I guess maybe they have expanded. There is 3 Todai's in Northern California. In Concord, Pleasanton and San Jose. The one...
Pros: Food variety and quality are excellent. Very clean facility. Cons: Expensive, a bit noisy. Popular so there will be a wait.
The Todai located at Vallco Fashion Park in Cupertino (San Jose) California is, I think, better than some of the other locations reviewed here. I was recently introduced to the bonanza of spectacular yumminess that is this restaurant. :)
Pros: Really Deliciously Yummy Food Cons: More on the Pricey Side but It's Worth It
Getting Your Money’s Worth with the Best Seafood Buffet at Todai
Todai Restaurant’s buffet has been called “The Mother of All Seafood Buffets” by various food reviewers and connoiseurs. Rightly so because Todai offers regular diners like the...
Pros: excellent food, excellent service, excellent price Cons: no hamburgers
Todai is a Los Angeles chain of Japanese buffet restaurants. I have only eaten at the Santa Monica, Woodland Hills and Studio City restaurants- all are excellent... a sushi-lovers dream. But they don't just have sushi- the selections are excellent-...
Pros: 3-star sushi Cons: hot dishes aren't as good
I was introduced to Todai last night. This huge Japanese buffet restaurant appears to be quite popular, based on the huge crowd of people waiting for a table (tho our wait was only 5 minutes). Once inside you are presented with a cornucopia of choices....
Pros: Wonderful assortment of sushi, fun-for-the-kids cooking Cons: Occasional waiting for a table
Most definitely California's best Shabu-Shabu house. An absolutely fabulous and varied range of sushis, shrimp, fish; not to forget the extremely convenient and fun-for-the-kids cauldron cooking! Excellent filet mignon slices and a creative assortment...
Pros: all you can eat Cons: expensive, long wait on weekends
TODAI! This is the most amazing restaurant! Todai is an all you can eat sushi buffet. I am definitely not a fan of sushi, but I certainly love Todai. In addition to an elaborate sushi bar, they also have a variety of cooked dishes such as salmon, crab...
Pros: Great food, huge selection. Fun friendly atmosphere. Great value at lunch time. Kid friendly. Cons: Fairly expensive for dinner. Limited choices for non-seafood eaters. Can be crowded at peak hours.
I have been to Todai in Santa Monica, Portland and San Jose. All three times I had excellent food in a fun and friendly setting. I'm normally not an adventuresome sushi eater, I generally stick to the familiar tuna nigiri, but I was happy with the new ...
Pros: Great food for the price, lots to choose from, sushi made fresh on the spot. Cons: Food sit out for a long time without being replaced.
We have eaten several times at the Todai location in Pleasanton, California. It is a little pricey but when you are getting all you can eat Japanese Buffet, it is worth it. It is a great place to have parties since they have such a large restaurant and ...
Pros: On your birthday, on the house Cons: Food was very disappointing
Megugrrrl was right (see December 20, 2001 review)... I thought that maybe the new restaurant in Redmond, WA would be better than those in California or other spots, based on the raves I've heard from friends about Todai, but was I disappointed....

Pros: all-you-can-eat Japanese food at a great price Cons: none whatsoever
Todai is the best place for sushi lovers to out and stuff themselves. While I haven't been to the Glendale location, I have been to the Woodland Hills one, and must admit that I was in love.
For only $20, you are let loose in the restaurant...
Pros: Value for people that can consume 3 or 4 trips to the buffet Cons: Food quality is poor, and there is nothing else offered to redeem it.
I have been to two of the Todai locations, and only because everybody swore that one was better then the other. Well, that isn't the case. They both offered sub-par cuisine in a setting that befits a Las Vegas style buffet, which is very nearly what you...
This review is about the Todai restaurant in San Diego, CA. If you love seafood or Japanese food, this is the restaurant for you! Almost anything that you can think of you will find here. There are three different areas to choose from. There is...
Pros: Decent food Cons: Parking, the long line, rather pricey
Let's face it, everybody's a pushover for all-you-can-eat buffets. Heck, that's the main reason we all go to Vegas and Atlantic City right? Well, as a big buffet-buff, I had to go check out Todai (correctly pronounced as "To Die" as in "to...
Pros: If you can eat a lot, you can get a lot for your money Cons: Crowded (to get in), long lines, typical irritations of buffet, bland sushi
I was at the Todai in Woodland Hills - went on a Saturday Night, and had to wait about 45 minutes to get in - and we had gone in at a less-busy time (around 6:00). By the time we got out of there, there was a HUGE wait (about 1.5 hours).
Pros: Good food, good friends, good fun Cons: I think I saw a Yakuza Obayun in the corner...
Some have said that sushi and other japanese foods are an acquired taste. Well, after having lived in Japan most of my life, I guess I can say I'm a bit partial - but don't let that stop you from trying this place out.
Pros: delicious, great selection Cons: pricey, mallish atmosphere
I won't elaborate too much on the description, because the other reviewers' opinions are right on. But if you live in the Inland Empire, check out the Todai at the Montclair mall. It's on the first floor, on the Robinson's May side.
I love this restaurant a lot. It is so good and has the best sushi. It is all you can eat Sushi which makes it good. My favorite dish at this restaurant is the sushi. There are reservations, but you don't need it. I would recommend getting one because...
Pros: All-you-can-eat, affordable Cons: No specialty rolls, atmosphere
If you're not picky about the atmosphere and don't mind assembly line sushi, then you will really enjoy Todai. They do offer you a huge variety of sushi, as well as soups, cooked shellfish and salads. There are a number of Todai restaurants in Southern...
How shall I describe this. I mean all the sushi you can eat is heaven it itself, but that's not enough. (For me, having access to all the eel sushi I want is darned near Paradise.) But there are salads, and sea food and desserts, and other Chinese and...
Pros: a large variety of seafood, fast service, eat-all-you-can, delicious choices Cons: long line of customers waiting to be seated

Pros: healthy food lunch and dinner menues very. Cons: none

Pros: Lots of food for your $$ Cons: Can't count on the experience to be the same at different locations.
I have visited two Todai restaurants and found them to be completely different. Quite frankly, I was grossed out at the Wilshire Blvd. location. The floor was filthy, the plates were old and grungy looking, the service was slow, the room was freezing...
Todai is over priced and food sucks! by asul11 ,Feb 03 '05
Pros: The servers are nice and pleasant. Cons: Horrible food! Extremely overpriced!
I must say I've tried 2 branches of Todai. First in Beverly Hills and the most recent one is in Glendale. Both are horrible. This restaurant gives the Japanese dishes a bad name. Paying close to $30 bucks for dinner is such a rip off. I tried the sushi and it taste like I'm eating something frozen that was left to be thawed and served. It's NASTY! I almost threw up. There's an after taste as well. I also tried their hot dishes and they were all bland. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Avoid Todai in Huntington Beach, CA by steve0296 ,Dec 06 '04
Pros: Wide sushi selection, good for trying new items. Cons: Sushi ok, everything else disappointing. Very poor value for the money.
Visited the Huntington Beach location. I can't say when I've found a restaurant to be a poorer value for the money. The sushi was mostly ok. A couple items had an off taste, but most were serviceable. The hot food bar was a huge disappointment - mushy bbq fish, soggy tempura, greasy fried rice, chewy beef. lukewarm appetizers - the only item that was good was a sauteed vegetable dish. There were about 10 dessert choices, I choose a pear tart that was inexplicably frozen, cantaloupe that was tasteless and a cream puff which was ok. It's rare for me to spend over $25 a person for dinner. When I do I expect really good food. Todai didn't deliver. I would recommend it only if you want to eat a lot of sushi and don't mind if the quality is a step back from your neighborhood sushi place.
AVOID Westchester LOCATION by yankelover ,Sep 24 '05
Pros: NOT HAVING TO GET UP AS MUCH(OR EAT AS MUCH) Cons: No more help yourself sushi
Sushi buffet? NOT ANYMORE .At the Westchester location they changed it,now you order the sushi at your table and the waiter brings it to you a little at a time with a long wait between orders, you can still eat all you want but you are only allowed a certain amount at a time, purpose i guess to have you fill up on there hot and cold buffet such as fried rice and noodles while you wait for the sushi,so in my opinion avoid, still calling it a sushi buffet is deceiving
very disappointing, avoid it at all cost! by shoortie ,Aug 25 '07
Pros: place is huge so you dont have to wait to get a table Cons: bad service, dirty
avoid todai at virginia. Price was okay (around $25 per person at night) but it's really not a "all-you-can-eat" buffet. For example, you can only get two oyster at a time and the worst is you have to ring a bell for a lady to come out and give you the oyster. I was like???? this is a buffet good lord!!! sashimi lady was worse. She gives you 4 slices of sashimi each time (there were only 4 to pick from) and if you want all 4 type of sashimi, then you only get 2 slices. I think they really want their customers to eat fried rice and fried noodles. In that case, I could have gone to Panda express!!
Worst of all, there was a cockroach on my table. Will I go back and eat again? definitely not!
I'm sorry but I will never eat here again. by kittydove ,Sep 04 '07
Pros: sweet TV's (Simpsons, Family Guy, there were little kids there, is that wise?); food= okay Cons: Disgusting bathrooms, bad service, odd layout, annoying signs telling you not to eat too much.
We reserved a table...which ended up not being there. 8 people, we're sending off my aunt's mother back to China. Since we don't have a table specifically set for 8, they give us 2 4-chair tables. They won't let us push the tables together, which was kind of a pointless fear, I'd say. Whatever.
My table orders 2 pink lemonades, a root beer, and a glass of water. We go to get food and squeeze past the tables crammed close to the walls, grab plates and go to the end of an unmoving line. Finally we get to the food and there's barely any left! Soon enough, though, more comes and we scurry on back to our tables.
Remember those lemonades? Well, somehow they turned into Ramunes, and the water into a Sprite. There are like no people there picking up plates, etc., so we have to wait a long time to get someone to switch the drinks.
The rest of the time, it's moderately alright, eating there. Nothing out of the ordinary happens...same old. It's a weird restaurant, though. I'll probably stick to stuff that I'm more comfortable with.
I thought I could eat anything... by fatgabycat ,Jul 16 '05
Pros: I had the restaurant to myself at noon on a Friday! And they validate parking. Cons: Poorly made sushi. Enough said.
Todai on Wilshire proved me wrong...so terribly, terribly wrong. I am not a sushi snob. I *adore* sushi buffets, and can usually stuff myself for hours. The sushi here looks like it was slapped together by disgruntled cafeteria workers. Most of the rolls were falling apart before they even reached my plate, and I have never seen tuna cut so thick--it couldn't even drape over the rice (which was unbelievably gummy and flavorless). And where's this selection I keep hearing so much about? In total, there were probably 10 varieties of sushi, 8 salads, some tempura, miso, and fruit for dessert (none of the delicious cakes I was promised). In addition, they force you to eat shabu shabu or something they're erroneously calling bul go gee, which here is just beef cooked in some broth rather than the delicious Korean dish I had expected. I pushed myself to eat what I could (got to get my money's worth, after all), and yet I left feeling empty. So disappointing...
