You don’t have to look that hard to find a TomTom 510 for under $400, which is a great price for this GPS unit. Below I outlined my favorite TT 510 features. ● My favorite aspect of TomToms in general is they are all user friendly including the ...
Pros: SIZE, TOUCHSCREEN, INCLUDED CONTENT, OPTION TO UPGRADE CONTENT. Cons: NOTHING WORTH MENTIONING
I bought the latest generation of TomTom One just after Christmas. At that time TomTom had a sale called "GIVE GIVE" this was there marketing ploy to make people think that they were getting a great deal. The Product itself is a great bargain compared ...
Pros: 3d display, Good Voices, maps, ipod control, traffic weather option, tons of options Cons: Lack of POI, POI Gui, phone support, mount, traffic cable
I was looking for a unit that can work with my business and for everyday use. I was looking at the Garmin C550 and Tomtom 510. Paid $535 Dissapointing POI compared to Garmin. The TomTom lacks many shopping poi, for example it's missing costco, sams, ...
Pros: Screen, ease of use, customer service, PC and web site usability. Cons: Map accuracy.
I purchased my Tomtom 510 new from CircuitCity three months ago. I live in Boston, but travel frequently on business and take it with me. Let me address the dreadful comment first. My biggest frustration is the accuracy of the maps for the USA. I ...
Pros: Nice display and operates out of the box Cons: Missing many points of interest and poor construction
The unit works out of the box and is easy to use as stated, however there are many shortcomings one needs to be aware of. Rather than re-hash everything that is on the website and easily obtainable, I will focus on an honest and candid review after ...
Pros: good size screen. Easy menu navigation. All ruined by abismal service Cons: Awful bracket. outdated maps. big and chuncky. Awful service (what service?)
TomTom probably has the worst custome service I have ever experienced. If you thought Telstra or Panasonic have bad customer service, wait until you experience TomTom. I had a problem with the windscreen bracket where it kept on drooping down until the ...
Pros: nice sleek unit, good sound Cons: see the comments above
(as I am writing this, I am holding on the phone with TomTom support!!!) I bought my TomTom in December 2007 from CompUSA as it was going out of business. I thought I was getting a good price on a nice piece of equipment, but... 1- the unit told me ...
Pros: Portable, fast processor. Cons: Very inaccurate, stopped working after 3 days, robbed by Circuit City.
I've been waiting for a while for the GO 510, as I wanted the Bluetooth feature. After picking it up from Circuit City, I took it home and downloaded all available updates to make sure it was up to speed. First thing I noticed is that the 510 does not ...
Pros: Easy to use right out of the box, very accurate and recently updates maps. Cons: NONE :-)
This is a great device and I highly suggest it to anyone looking for an inexpensive GPS. The best part about the 510 is how easy it is to use. You just have to input the destination and the 510 does the rest. The Bluetooth and different navigational voices are great too.
Pros: Nice, vibrant display screen in daylight or at night. Cons: removing unit from base adaptor is difficult.
I like this unit. I can recommend without hesitation. It served its purpose and has given me accurate directions in the 7 states that I've traveled through. Its a steal under $400 dollars. I paid $599.99 cuz it was spanking new last summer. Customer support was very helpful when i needed a replacement for my USB dock. It shipped a replacement free within 7days.
Pros: Was good when it worked Cons: Stopped working after a day.
It worked fine the first day. On day 2 it just would not turn on. Will return the unit for a replacement. I hope the replacement unit does not have similar problem. Searching other reviews, I find others users have encountered similar problems!
Pros: when it works it is magic. Cons: it won't rest or turn on.
works great if you can get it to turn on. Got this used it once.... hated my computer..reset it went on a trip ..was wonderful. now it won't reset or turn on....very frustrated.
Pros: Interface is easy to use. Cons: Software crashes, unit crashes, bad maps and poor signal acquisition
We now call this 'TomTom' 510 "JunkJunk".
In any city in the US, it takes 10-15 minutes to acquire and lock onto a GPS signal/satellite. The map was 3 blocks off, which in a city is huge.
On my iMac the TomTom software crashes every time I use it. I've contacted the company and they're very polite but their suggestions don't work or help. Because the software crashes, I'm unable to update the maps or unit software.
The unit will often go blank while on the road and will only restart if we pull it off the window mount, turn it upside down and reset it with a paper clip (if we have one - now we carry one always).
I wish I had purchased a Garmin Nuvi 660 or even 350 at the time I purchased this in July of 2006.
Great device, just wish it would work!!!! by monsterdoodle ,Aug 08 '06
Pros: Easy to use, accurate, very smart. Cons: RELIABILITY!!!!!
Bought 2 of these, both brand new. The 1st lasted one day before it wouldn't switch on again. The replacement second unit lasted 2 days before exactly the same problem occurred. Lost all confidence in the device and did not wish to replace with third as I felt I would just be waiting for it to fail on me again.
When the unit works, it is very user friendly, accurate and simple to use however reliability appears to be a big problem.
I'll steer clear of TomTom for now until they improve reliability. With improvements, I would certainly buy one again.
