Pros: Easy to move around and store. Rubber blades clear down to the pavement. Cons: Engine is loud.
After years of considering I finally bought a snow blower. We just had big snowstorm and this thing blew out the entire double driveway and sidewalks. It was a pleasure not to have to shovel anymore. I had read a number of reviews on the Toro single ...
Pros: handled wet compact snow, smaller footprint, remote chute control, throws snow far. Cons: Has not started on me within 2 pulls (manual start)
This is my first winter in my first home. As a teenage I used my family's Craftsman, True Value branded snow blowers. I chose this unit because of its' 6.5 hp engine and the small size relative to the hp. This is a single stage blower. It has one ...
Pros: Compact
Very easy to start
Works exactly as advertised
Cons: Some may not like the gas/oil mix.
This is my 5th year with this blower and have absolutely no complaints or problems and trust me, I've run it through its paces. Handles large and small storms without issue. Used it today on a wintry mix where the snow was packed under ice. The paddles ...
Had this unit for three years, would not buy again. by rj5620 ,Jan 28 '09
Pros: Does not clog, throw a great distance. Cons: Won't start after first season and thereafter, expensive to maintain.
When new, works great and does not clog and throws snow a great distance. The problem arises the next season when you attempt to start it. I put in sabil in the gas and the gas was fresh from the season before, btw this is what the dealer recommends. Anyway every season now for the last three years it fails to start and cost $$ to have it fixed, I am frustrated with Toro and will look elsewhere. Mine snowthrower has the recoil start and I wear myself out trying to start it. I called the dealer yesterday and he said that he always gets many calls from frustrated Toro owners that cannot start their snow throwers annually. Avoid.
Pros: Great with gas, foldable, strong, even gets slush Cons: none that I have come across yet
I love this single stage toro. It is great at getting both big and small snow. It folds easily to fit in cars. It is easy to operate, and great on gas. I have done 4 houses with one full tank, in about a foot of snow. Easy to start, and a two year warranty.
20" clearing width
35' throw distance
1,800 lbs per minute
Recoil or electric start
Can't conquer the Lake Effect snows along Lake Erie by jackcanuck ,Feb 14 '07
Pros: One person can pick it up. Cons: Incredibly LOUD machine. Two-stroke engine = cough cough.
First of all, the model throws snow in the best of conditions about 15 feet max. With heavy wet snow and slush, it's half of that. It's ok if there's no hard packed snow or ice underneath, otherwise the machine's paddles get stuck. You have to tilt it up so it doesn't try to clean the walks/drives down to the bare concrete. If you encounter a little ice chunk, make sure you have a shovel ready. You'll need it.
After the equivalent of two winters, my machine stopped working. Might be the belts, I have to take it in to the place I bought it. It's just a month over the two year warranty too.
I would recommend doing it right and getting one with much more power. I think I wasted $600 bucks on this one.
It's like a snow making machine!! by grinder12000 ,Dec 07 '07
Pros: Does everything as advertised,no snow is to much or too heavy. Power!!! Cons: The need to take a shower after every use. Normal 2 cycle engine smell.
This really does clear down to the pavement and throws snow with ease.
I have only had it a week with three snow falls and even a 6 inch 1.7 inches of equivalent water snow fall it had no problems.
Started on 2nd pull with no problems at all. Not even a hard pull.
It's 70 pounds so if you want to lift it you can. Handle folds nicely. It can fit in the back if our Subaru with a little stuffing. Easy to use, very easy to start. The deeper the snow the easier it is to push.
The variable speed rotor is sort of a silly selling gimmick. I can not see anybody ever using the slower speed but I suppose it has it's use. Throws snow farther then any 2 stage machine.
The ONLY con is that it really does stink. You will need to take a shower every time after use unless you want to smell like a small 2 cycle engine.
Loud? maybe but really - who cares. It gets the dense snow plow snow that piles in from of the driveway with ease. Goes through it like butter.
