Pros: Lovely display, nice keyboard, good price, CD-RW/DVD Cons: RAM and Video Memory, kind of bulky
The first computer I purchased was in 1995 and three years later I purchased a new one. In mid-2001, I built my desktop. But in all of those years, though all of those systems I had yet to actually own a laptop. That is, Id yet to own a laptop...
Pros: Outstanding display, ample sized hard drive, Pentium 4 based processor. Cons: Trackball software is a little tricky to use.
After a long delay facilitated by the lack of employment (that was painful), I finally landed a new job, entered Law School and scraped up enough money to purchase a new laptop. My old laptop, a Toshiba Tecra 8000, was getting a little long in...
Pros: Heavy Build, nice blue color, large screen, floppy and CDRW/DVD combo drive. Decent battery life. Cons: Anemic factory install RAM and small video (16MB). Complete lack of tech support. Laptop failures.
I bought my s301 in January of 2003 as a desktop replacement that would enable me to work with Photoshop and a host of other webdevelopment tools while on the road. I wish I could lie to you and say that the laptop failed in that regard, but for the ...
Pros: Very powerfull machine for the money Cons: Weight, heat, low RAM, horrible customer support
I bought mine from Bestbuy from a Christmas sale for just 1000 bucks in 2001. That was the beginning of a smooth journey of Toshiba and me. I never have a single glitch with this machine. Bad things- It's heavy, by no means you can leave it on your lap ...
Pros: Only $1099 with rebate at Best Buy Cons: Windows XP
I needed a wireless laptop for Pharmacy School, when I saw the price at Best Buy I ran out and bought this laptop. After rebate, I paid $1099 and also got a free Linksys wireless card.
Pros: Almost Fully-Loaded; Best Value, Desk-Top Replacement, super Batt. Life Cons: Not For Road Warrior, BIG, Heavy, Graphics-card sub-par, no p/s2, no ser. port
Been looking for laptop/portable for years. Wanted/needed Desktop replacement power, w/ portability. Refused to pay the premium price ( greater than $ 1800) for these feature in laptop when Desktops were in the sub $1k range.
Pros: fast, inexpensive Cons: serial fan defect, freezes occasionally, Toshiba tech support bites
Don't get me wrong, all is not bad with this computer. It is pretty fast, pretty inexpensive, doesn't freeze much, Windows XP is easy and better than Windows 2000, lots of memory, etc. BUT there is a dark, dirty side to this computer as well. If you dec ...

Overall this is a very nice notebook. It comes fully equipt with 2 ghz processor and 40 g HDD. Also has a combo CDR/DVD drive which is really nice. Fast performance, comes with a built in Network Card. The only downfall I have found on this Notebook is the old video card it uses. Which through me off cause I wasn't able to play just about 80% of the games that are out, because most games need a 32 mb video card to run. On an overall rating I still rate this notebook a 8.5, it would get a 10 if it had a 32 mb video card.
Stay away from this one! The entire unit appears cheaply built. The left click button has worn out after less than two weeks of use. The keyboard mouse has become polished and unresponsive in the same lenght of time. The drivers supplied by Toshiba for the graphics (ATI)are continually failing, and require much time devoted to machine maintenance. The overall performance is very poor. The Toshiba website support has not responded to numerous requests for assistance. If the vendor had not been unwilling to allow return of this overpriced product, it would have.
Great buy and nice design. Don't listen to weak computer users with no computing ability who talk of software glitches or cheap style case. Video memory is only 16mb but the P4-2ghz processor easily makes up for lost video performance. Most 3d games play very good if you have skills and know how to use this Computer to its full advantage. No problems with display or keyboard. Its a laptop, you can't pound on it like a desktop, so don't wine if you get a stuck key. I have a Gateway 600 series notebook and a Dell 8200, the toshiba out does them both. Just wish they had put at least a 32mb videocard. I definately recommend this system.

when the 1905-S301 arrived. I noticed that the hard drive was a single drive "c:". So I did a fdisk, created a 8gig "c:"drive and a 32gig "D:" drive. I gave 8gig to the operating system (windows) and 32 gig for my data files. installed my own operating system (winXP-Pro) went to Toshiba's website and downloaded all the needed drivers (nic, video, intel chipset, battery saver, EZ buttons)by the way installing the updated drivers from Toshiba's website was as easy as it gets. And it's been a week and ths computer jets, it's the best laptop for the money. But
when I ran the installed software for a few days it was still very good, winXP home is fine for most users, but I use this computer on a network with a domain. And since I partitioned the hard drive, doing a defrag or speed disk is faster on 8gigs than 40gigs
and the best laptop case for this computer is the Xbox travel case, around $34.00
would I buy this computer if I could do it all over again.... Yes
