Pros: Lots of great attachments, very durable and powerful. Cons: Poorly balanced - can be a problem for some people.
Caveat: My experience with starting this unit has been VERY different from other reviewers - please read all reviews. I take pride in my lawn and get a sense of satisfaction after I have finished working in the yard. After years of unrolling a 100' ...
Pros: Inexpensive and light weight. Cons: Initial starting instructions are a bit confusing at first. Not Well Balanced.
This reviewer bought the Troy-Bil Model TB415CS to replace a 10 plus year old Ryobi 2-cycle trimmer fitted with a conventional spring-loaded head spool. I found the trimmer inside its box with all of it labeled components that needed to be attached ...
Pros: Will not stall. No ugly gas smell. Quiet. Efficient on fuel. Powerful. Easy loading line. Cons: Tricky to start. A bit heavy and unbalanced. Line must be replaced frequently.
HISTORY: I have been through 4 trimmers in 7 years in S. Florida. Our property is 2.5 acres with many trees and rocks. We trim our property about 10 months out of the year. Other trimmers were not powerful enough, were hard to start or quit starting, ...
Pros: Started easily. Cons: Stalled constantly. Used terrible pre-cut string system. Requires mechanic's attention at ten hours of use.
I wish I'd seen the other review before I bought one yesterday. Yes, it stalled continuously. It also says you have to remove, clean, and re-oil the filter after ten hours, also drain and change the oil and also - ADJUST THE ROCKER ARMS - and the manual ...
I bought this to replace a Homelite trimmer that lasted 10 years or so. What a disappointment this Troy-Bilt is; it takes multiple pulls to start, cuts off repeatedly unless you have the tank completely full, cuts off if you rotate it to edge, and it's so poorly balanced it wears out your arms as you tilt the cutting end down. It also seems to be very sensitive to the weight of the string; if you put on a string that's a little bit too long, it doesn't want to start. I tried to think of a situation in which this trimmer would be an asset, but I can't come up with anything. It's so bad I don't think I can give it away in good conscience so I'll leave it in the garage as a lesson learned: you get what you pay for.

Pros: Features, attachments Cons: Extremely difficult to start
I just bought this trimmer a week ago to beautify my new yard and I agree with the previous reviewer that it is nearly impossible to start. After an hour or so (following the start instructions) I got it to start. When it did, I was satisfied with the performance.
The second time I tried to use it I wasted another hour to no avail. The darn thing never started! I also bought the blower attachment. I'm taking that back to the store for a refund since I never used it due to my frustration.

Pros: none Cons: nearly impossible to start, stalls frequently
I purchased one of this thinking it looked like a good buy. Boy! was I wrong. I found this trimmer nearly impossible to start. It would take dozens of pulls to get it started (no exaggeration) and then, once it did start, it would stall very easily. It would then be just as difficult to get it to start again. My recommendation - look elsewhere.
