Pros: Quality design and construction. Powerful and quiet. Easy to start Cons: Hard to move any distance without power or hassle. Won't run on water
We have had our Troy for three years with no problems. It just came back from its annual medical checkup with a clean bill of health. It did have a little water where there was supposed to be gas but the doc fixed it for us. The recommendation was not to...
Pros: Five seasons and still going very strong. Cons: A Excellent machine.
The Troy-Bilt Bronco Five Horse Power Tiller is one of the easier tillers I have found to work with. Not as bulky as the bigger machines, this tiller is perfect for those small to medium jobs. I found the Bronco to be very versatile in my...
Pros: Does what it is supposed to do and does it well Cons: forward clutch cable tends to jump off handlebars sometimes
I have not gardened seriously in years, but this year I decided to do get involved with a garden. I retired last fall, and prior to that I just never seemed to have time to get to involved in the maintenance of a garden.
Pros: Gear-driven rear tines. Mechanic suggested. Cons: We have yet to find a con.
My husband and I love to garden or should I say we love to reap the rewards of a good garden. We currently share garden space with our neighbor. For the past three years, we have always left the tilling up to him because he was the only one with the...
Pros: Quality built machine. Good Power. Rugged. Good for tight areas. Cons: Overpriced. Not real easy to use. No neutral and only one speed.
Got a pretty good deal on my Troy Built. Bought it at Lowe's. Someone else had purchased it and then brought it back because it had a loose piece of plastic covering the flywheel. I was very excited to get it home and test it out. I guess I should...
Pros: Quality, quality, quality... Cons: Very little competition...
If you want a no-nonsense opinion about this product and all Troy-Bilt products, you have come to the right place. I have had the opportunity to actually use A LOT of the Troy-Bilt line. I worked in a power tools shop in a small town in New Mexico for...
Pros: Easy to use; effective; reliable. Cons: Can't think of any.
I've had this unit for 2 years and have used it to build and develop a 2500 square foot garden. In a nutshell, never a problem and it does a terrific job.
I've had or used a few other units but the rear tines and product quality are superior....
Pros: Powerful, effective, very reliable Cons: Expensive, and probably not neccesary...
First let me state that I have the highest respect for Troy-Bilt machines, they are indeed some of the best. That being said, I don't think this particular model is worth the money it costs. When I went out to buy a tiller machine, I compared a lot of...
Troy-Bilt surely needs to go back to the drawing board. by runyippie ,Mar 07 '05
Pros: The tiller starts very easily. Cons: The tiller is like having 6 stubborn Mules pulling you!!!!!
Body and construction is great there is just a few thing missing. It may need the spike to stick in the ground to hold some resistance while tilling. The tiller is not designed for any average yard, although it is O.K. to handle if the ground is already broken up or if it doesn't have any grass grown in it. I work out with weights and exercise and this Trot-Bilt Bronco (FRT) wore my butt out. I am in the process of modifying my tiller to make user friendly!!!! Unless Troy-Bilt can come up with some acessories of some sort.
I can't believe I even bought this thing.
1998 Troy-Bilt Bronco Cold Starting Problem by broncobuster10 ,Mar 25 '05
Pros: Smooth running and thorough tilling action Cons: Cold starts are terrible
Ever since I got this Bronco, I've been experiencing extreme difficulty with cold starting, especially the first time in the spring. The engine seems to be prone to flooding and takes a long time to get going after I attempt to clear it by repeatedly cranking it with the choke off or open and the throttle at any setting. Today, March 25, 2005, I noticed the throttle linkage was stuck and had to be freed. Once the machine is started the first time, it runs great and is easy to start after refueling or lunch break. Also, after installing the safety guard bar in front of the engine, I find the air filter nearly inaccessible for maintenance. Who designed that goody, OSHA or Consumer Product Safety Commission? Had to be a government job! The rear-tine design truly is as easy to use as advertised. If it hits a hidden rock or root, just let go of the clutch lever and back up and try again.
This is the worst machine I have ever used. It does not have enough traction to pull itself forward, you have to push it. I plowed, disc and dragged my garden with a full size tractor and it still would not power itself through the soil, you had to struggle all the way. I would not purchase another TROY BILT product or recommend one to anyone.
