I like so many others bought this tiller on reputation. I had read and heard it was well built. The built part may be right. After having it for a month and fighting it to keep it from running off with me,I called the factory. The representative told me to buy wheel weights and a spur and most of my problems would be over. After investing another $80 and putting on the weights and spur I was ready to do some tilling. Wrong the first hard soil I hit the tiller ran off with me.I also agree with others on how hard it is to get it to free wheel. You had better have a good back to do this part.

I had desired a TroyBilt tiller for many years. I was unsure which model so I emailed the TroyBilt website and asked if the Bronco was suited for southern Missouri rocky soils.The response was that it was well suited for that application. So after many years I finally shelled out the money to buy one. It was one of the worst purchases I ever made. The tiller is very dangerous when operated on new or hard soils. The large tillers may do the job but this one just does not fill the bill. The first time I tilled it pulled me trough the yard about ten yards before I got it stopped. The second time I tilled with it I broke a tine. There is not a enough room on this review body to fully relate the terrible customer support.

Great looking tiller, starts fine, and if you leave it parked in the garage, I am sure that you will be happy with this machine. Anyone that says that this tiller works great in any kind of soil, either works for the company, or has one of these beasts that they are trying to sell. I don't care how big and strong you are, if you hit a root or a rock, this creature will launch itself and be long gone before you get a chance to let go of the handle. I bought one at an auction, that looked like new, and now I know why. I want to get rid of it, but I don't want to sell it to someone that might get hurt with it. If my little boy had been within 10 ft of this thing the first time that I tried it, I shudder to think what might have happened. I used to have a very high opinion of troy bilt, that is until I bought one, never again.

Cons: Requires constant pushing. Cannot use a hiller/furrower with a super bronco.

I decided to buy a Troy Bilt "Super Bronco" tiller after using my neighbor's "Junior" for several years (it worked very nicely). The difference between these two tillers is that the super bronco has counter rotating tines, which impede forward motion whilst tilling. I have to push this tiller constantly to make it go. I think the counter-rotating feature is ill conceived. I wouldn't recommend a super bronco to anyone.

After reading all the negative reviews, I went ahead and bought the super bronco anyways. It is one tough machine. As small as it is, it is very well built. Before I purchased it, I've called several independent repair shops and all three had nothing to say about it but GOOD. 6 hp ohv techumseh engine is quiet and easy to start. Tiller has counter rotaiting tines, thus I do not understand how it can lounge forward when it hits a root or a rock, tines are spinning backwards not forward. Troybilt was bought out by MTD back in 2001, however tillers  are still made in the same place that they were before 2001. Some say they were better 15-20 years ago, maybe so, on the other hand so were 1955 chevy's bel air's compare to todays chevy's.  To sum it up, everything was better built long time ago. That does not mean that today's troybilt is junk (like some say).
One more thing, I'm not in any way associated with the company. I'm just a homowner like everyone here.

Cons: It is difficult to maneuver. The free-wheeling by pulling pins is a joke.

I recently retired and put in a 20ft x 36ft garden. To keep the deer and other critters out, I fenced it in.
I bought this tiller pretty much on the reputation of the Troy-Bilt name, thinking the newer products from Troy-Bilt would have incorporated all the features of the old reliable models as well as improvements and innovations that have come along.
WRONG!
I have to constantly push the machine forward, the counter-rotating tines is ill-conceived.
The idea for guiding the thing in a straight line by one hand while standing on the side of the machine simply doesn't work.
In order to move the machine without the motor running requires that the axel pins are removed from the wheels and the wheels slid sideways on the shafts. There is no neutral or free-wheeling feature. As a result, you have to lift one side of the tiller and then the other to accomplish this task.
If any of my friends ever express an interest in getting one of these machines, I'll give them this one just to get rid of it!
