  • Troy Bilt Bronco Tiller is one of the best.

    Mar 30, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Wide tilling width, big tines, self-propelled
Cons: Costs too much, only 1 speed

Summary: Last year, my tiller died. We had a funeral and then went to our local Lowes store and looked around for a new one. Note: I have a garden on my parents land in my hometown. After looking around for a while, my father ... read more

  • It is a good machine.

    Jun 23, 2010 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Does a good job for the type of machine it is. Worth the money.
Cons: Could use more weight. I would include a removeable weight kit as standard.

Summary: I am not sure what some peole were expecting when the bought the machine but they must not have a lot of use with tillers. I have no connection to Troy Bilt. To address a few of the complaints I have seen.1. "Lurches out of control".  I have ... read more

  • Dangerous machine

    Oct 1, 2008 by
    Not yet rated.
    Pros:

Good in soft soil. Why such a heavy duty machine for that type of use.

Cons: Dangerous to handle. Bailout release, drive and tine control, speed control designed poorly.

Summary: This machine is the most dangerous machine to run, that I have. I have a tractor, bulldozer, two mowers, wood chipper and wood splitter. So far this machine is the only one that has caused me injury (shoulder). The drive and tine control are the same. ... read more

    Mar 27, 2007 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Easy to maneuver, easy to use controls
Cons: One more engine I have to Maintain

Summary: I purchased the tiller when my wife decided to start a garden about 30'X30'. We looked at several brands but I felt none compared to Troy-Bilt. After SHE assembled it in about an hour I took her (5"8" 130lbs) out to give it a try. It performed as good as ... read more

Pros: they do tear through tough soil
Cons: cust service, warranty service, drive activation assembly, easily accessable emergency shut off ?

Summary: Troy bilt is under MTD, THIS TILLER WAS USED AT MY PERSONAL HOME, the issue is that the tiller hit a tree root, and as specified in the manual, I released the bail handle for the machine to stop...the unit never stopped, infact it dug in more and more ... read more

    May 2, 2003 by

    Pros: Cast iron drive tran
Cons: wild machine, well named (Bronco) hard to control, not good for tilling

Summary: The machine is properly named..Bronco. Anyone who can ride it for more than 8 seconds can have it. I purchased it two days ago and I'm still crying. I wanted this one for a long time and used my Air Force reenlistment 20% off coupon to buy it at my ... read more

  • Be VERY Careful with this tiller

    Feb 14, 2002 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Rear Tine Design
Cons: No Throttle Control on Handle, and No separate control for Tines and Drive Wheels

Summary: My father-in-law, (6'4" 260lb man), purchased a new super bronco 6.5hp rear tine tiller from Troy-Built's website. We were fans of the Troy-Built name for quality. From the moment it was out of the box, it was apparent that Troy-Built was in trouble. ... read more

Pros: Can order directly from Troy bilt, rear and forward, good engine
Cons: Must keep good control of machine

Summary: First, let me say that my in-laws purchased their Troy-bilt used and it has lasted years and years. We've had ours just this season but expect a long level of service from it. Also, we ordered it directly from Troy-bilt for the same price as the local ... read more

  • Beware Troy-Bilt Tillers

    Apr 30, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: None
Cons: Machine is very dangerous to operate. Flimsy construction. No throttle control. Poor Customer Service.

Summary: The Troy-Bilt 6.5 HP Super Bronco Tiller is very dangerous to use. This machine is poorly designed and too lightweight for use in anything but loose loam or sand. When used in regular topsoil, the tiller skips out of the ground and takes off, propelled ... read more

  • Miracle Maker!

    Sep 16, 2000 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Easy to use, does a wonderful job.
    Cons: none

Summary: Around eight months ago we decided that a tiller would be a tool that we'd love to have. Plans for landscaping our over four acres of partly wooded land would require more than just a shovel and pick. So shopping we went! After a few weeks ... read more

    Pros: Nice paint. Starts easy.
Cons: Poor QC on their castings.

Summary: I tilled about 6 feet in a new garden before the tiller stalled and the casing cracked right at the rear differential. This tiller is a no-go. Troy-Built needs to work hard on the quality of their casting. They also need to learn what a shear pin is ... read more

Summary: After reading all the negative reviews, I went ahead and bought the super bronco anyways. It is one tough machine. As small as it is, it is very well built. Before I purchased it, I've called several independent repair shops and all three had nothing to ... read more

    Pros: nice looking machine
    Cons: TROY BILT JUNK!

Summary: Great looking tiller, starts fine, and if you leave it parked in the garage, I am sure that you will be happy with this machine. Anyone that says that this tiller works great in any kind of soil, either works for the company, or has one of these beasts ... read more

  • What a Joke

Pros: It starts nicely and has a nice paint job there's not too many pros.
Cons: It is difficult to maneuver. The free-wheeling by pulling pins is a joke.

Summary: I recently retired and put in a 20ft x 36ft garden. To keep the deer and other critters out, I fenced it in. I bought this tiller pretty much on the reputation of the Troy-Bilt name, thinking the newer products from Troy-Bilt would have incorporated all ... read more

Cons: Requires constant pushing. Cannot use a hiller/furrower with a super bronco.

Summary: I decided to buy a Troy Bilt "Super Bronco" tiller after using my neighbor's "Junior" for several years (it worked very nicely). The difference between these two tillers is that the super bronco has counter rotating tines, which impede forward motion ... read more
