Pros: City, when you first start playing it, its fun Cons: Short, when you play it after 30 minutes
True Crime: Streets of LA has a good idea: copy Grand Theft Auto, only fix the things that are wrong with it to make a great game. It's a good idea in a company's stand point. However, they really screwed up: they focused so much on fixing w ...
Pros: Very addictive, looks good Cons: a few minor glitches, but all games have them
On a recent trip to Blockbusters I decided to vary a bit from just renting a DVD. So I took the decision to rent out a game Ive been meaning to try for a while. Having rented it out and played it for the weekend I decided to take the plunge and buy ...
Pros: Fun options, role-playing, good gameplay, variety Cons: Having to pay $50 for a video game
THE STORY True Crime: Streets of L.A. (TC:SLA) has players taking the role of Nick Kang, a cop working for the E.O.D. (some fictional police organization) who is one of those clichéd "cops who live by their own rules". Kang finds himself in ...
Pros: Improved graphics, more fighting and shooting options, music. Cons: Fairly linear, corny plot, and over too quick.
Grand Theft Auto 3 truly revolutionized the gaming industry. Suddenly everyones trying to make open-ended third person shooters. One of them is True Crime: Streets Of LA. It tries valiantly to improve on the weakness of GTA3 and ...
Pros: Huge environment, upgrades for fighting, gun fighting, and vehicles Cons: Dying quickly, cars handle poorly, becoming bad cop too easy, glitchy
When I first heard about this game, I was amazed at the fact that there was supposed to be around 240 square miles of Los Angeles to roam around in. Most of the people who would look into this game are probably familiar with grand theft auto, which uses ...
Pros: large environment, cool fighting Cons: Way too many to list. See full review.
After watching all of the commercials for True Crime: Streets of LA, I thought, "Wow! That looks like a sweet game that I must have." But like most frugal console gamers, I decided to rent it first to make sure it was everything I had hoped for. I was ...
Pros: The graphics, soundtrack, controls, and the game play is superb. Cons: The price is the only thing I can think of.
This game has the deepest combination of driving, fighting and shooting that has ever been put into one game. In True Crime you play the role of a rogue Elite Operations Division (E.O.D.) operative, Nick Kang, who is assigned to take out merciless ...
Pros: Good-guy game, skill upgrades, large game area, not too hard Cons: Short, clipping through the walls, inability to store cool cars
I'll try to be short. You play a good cop, trying to resolve the mystery of your father death and lots of crimes along with it. This is one of few games that forces you to be on a good side to complete it, so it may be suitable for children whose parents ...
OK, True Crime isn't terrible, but it needs help. You play as a cop in this game, which is different and fun. I'll quickly go over the good and bad of this game. Some of the missions are pretty fun, but they are way to easy and short. In this game there ...
True Crime on the Playstation 2 is a game developed by Activision, who you may know from the Tony Hawk series. This game was set out by activision to try to compare or even beat the Grand Theft Auto Vice City fortune by Rockstar Games. I personally ...
Pros: slow-mo shooting Cons: map is way to big, game is way to short
When I first got True Crimes I thought the game was going to be huge and take forever to beat, I mean with a map that big it would have to. Well after about a day and a half of playing it, I have it beat(and yes I did get everything) and I am by no ...
A fun and interesting game. by Ericool_dude ,Feb 22 '04
Pros: You get to play as a cop, music, storyline, level design Cons: repetition, controls, likeness to GTA3
When I first saw the game, I looked at the back cover and was completely put off. I figured it was a bad Grand Theft Auto 3 ripoff. It does feel much like GTA3, however I liked getting the chance to be on the other side of the law. It was fun arresting perps and chasing street racers. Also, I found that the music fit well with most parts of the game. The storyline was quite good, though I have seen plenty better. The pro's aside, some negative aspects of this game include the controls, which were hard to use, and the repetition of the game. In each level you drive, shoot, or fist fight. However, the interesting levels help to assuage this problem somewhat.
Buy this game or be arrested by the E.O.D. by djshado ,Feb 22 '04
Pros: Upgrades. Free Roaming. Graphics. Storyline. Cons: Not knowing if there is going to be a sequel.
I have several words for this game. SUPERLY ULTIMATE MAD ROBOT JEFFERSON GUITAR LIKE. In other words this game is F'ing awesome. Alright, here goes. You assume the role of Detective Nick Kang, a super cop. Any way he gets a second chance as a member of the E.O.D. the Elite Operations Division. He goes on the case of his lifetime, with several paths to go down. One of the many things I love about this game is the fact that there is the free roaming ability. The ability to go and solve street crimes at will, or you don't have to. The other thing that I like upgrades. The fact that you can go learn that arm breaking throw, or earn that laser sight for your gun, or learn how to burn out in your car. In short the ingredients for a good game is "guns, kung fu, and a gripping story line" this game has all three.
Exploring the virtual, crime ridden streets of LA by webinator1961 ,May 21 '05
Pros: Option to go your own way.
Game path follows good/bad cop status. Cons: Graphics a little squared
Music needs more options
Game seems a little short.
If you get slapped around and beat down by the crazy "gals" in the strip joint, you can always get back to the streets, drive around, straighten up the neighborhood. You can be the good cop or the bad cop or that fine line in between, all in the name of cleaning up the streets of LA. I've driven over to Rockingham in Brentwood. No sign of OJ. I thought there might be an easter egg over there. It is pretty cool to be able to venture off from your current objective and drive wherever you feel like. I've never driven up the CA coast on Interstate 1, so, I did.
Oh yeah, and there's a game to be played when you have time.
Hard as I try, it's hard not to lean on the darkside, ending up as a bad cop.
*update: You can drive(or walk) up the roof of the Staples Center. Not much up there except a view and maybe a Snipers viewpoint if you can angle in a few shots at red flagged criminals. Listen for dispatch to break up a riot regarding a ball player being disqualified, that will take you there.
Pros: Overall a great game for your money and it will draw you in like (GTA). Cons: Loading was a little lengthy and the movies were a little cheesy as well.
When I first saw the commercials for this game I was instantly intrigued. My first opinion of the game when I purchased it was the strikingly similar characteristics to Grand Theft Auto, the game that everyone was and still is playing. However, I noticed the attention to detail such as shooting, driving, and challenges much different. You begin to really enjoy Nick Kane and his pressing drive to eliminate all Russian and Asian threats that killed his father and threaten the City of Angels. The graphics are great and the driving is like no other game I have ever played. I really liked all the options in attacking such as shielding yourself with an enemy or using karate moves. Every game has multiple types of guns but True Crime has more options for attacking and wounding. I like the fact that you can move on without being forced to complete a mission in its entirety. The upgrades such as being able to receive better guns and cars just add to the fun of the game.
