After I take my car to the city or after driving it on a hot August night it's a given that my Neon's front bumper/grille is going to be a graveyard for bees, mosquitoes, moths, etc. If you are familiar with regular store brand car washes then you know...
Pros: Quick, Easy to use Cons: Takes a while to remover thicker tar
I bought this product because the wonderful road people decided to retar my road on a nice hot day. The bottoms of the doors and the back by the wheels were pretty much coated with tar. I paid 1.99 for this product at Meijer.
Turtle Wax Bug and...
Pros: helps remove bugs, cost Cons: risky, doesn't help on thick sap
I bought a bottle of Turtle Wax Bug/Tar/Tree Sap remover. I mainly purchased it because I have a drip of sap on my car that will not budge. I used this foam on it multiple times with no success. These type of products are pretty harsh on paint so it is...
Pros: plenty of 'em Cons: none that I can think of
I just bought me a new car the other day and I love it soo soo much....the problem is that I get alot of road tar on the underneath side of my car and I can't get it off with anything.
Well Bug and Tar is some good stuff.;...ya see I jest...
Pros: Takes off lots of bad stuff. Cons: Your friends will borrow it and not buy you a new one.
Yes, it got the tar and bugs off my car. Worked great. Way better than WD-40, which is what someone else told me to try (there was no Epinions to consult at the time).
About 6 years ago, my car was parked in a grocery store parking lot in a...
Pros: Stays where you apply it, effective, safe on clear coat finishes Cons: Needs rubbing
Baked-on tree sap on my car! I tried oil and butter, hoping it would be less damaging to the finish on my car (silver, clear coat finish BMW). Unfortunately, neither helped with the big blob of baked-on tree sap. It had dried, caked into a warty-looking...
Pros: IT WORKS ! Cons: Minor, but the product doesn,t always want to come out of the bottle.
This is the product for tar substance removal hands down. Every time I try to use another brand or type of tar remover I always end up grabbing the can of Turtle Wax in the end. In fact it is the only can I have ever owned, and obviously has a great...
Pros: Easy to apply and works!!!! Cons: None that I seen while using product.
I had parked by a tree at work for the last several weeks and noticed I had tree sap all over my car. I came to this website to see what I could do about getting it off without harming the finish on my car. After reading the last review I remembered I...
When you live in the boon-docks... by yosamigo ,Jun 14 '04
Pros: It works, inexpensive, saves time. Cons: the smell, the pouring, who am I kidding. It works. So I don't care.
Living out in the middle of God's country means that my front bumper is an intensive-care unit for bugs. Whats worse is that I own a WHITE car with a huge nose. I can't tell you how many products and washes I've used to try to get the bugs, tar and sap off my car.
The product itself is a bit messy. (I had the pour-version). But for the results you get - the smell and the pouring is tolerable.
Marks and slashes on my car that I THOUGHT were scratches actually came off! Bugs that had been fossilized on my car were gone with a little elbow grease.
Not only that, but it left my clearcoat looking like it was "just waxed", and in excellent condition.
You SHOULD note the following:
When using this product, try to work in small sections. It takes a pretty heavy concentration of liquid to remove tough stains. The best technique is to dip-and-rub. Dip and rub. It should be noted that a little does NOT go a long way with this stuff.
I recently got back into the car care scene after buying a Subaru WRX. I remember using a nasty, finger stinging, bug and tar remover in the early 90's that worked great. This stuff had no petroleum smell and didn't hurt my fingers. The only problem is that it didn't work at all! My wife who has never used a bug and tar remover found it to be equally worthless.
Pros: Cheap, easy application, smells good Cons: Doesn't work worth a squat
I guess it is the most available product for removing bugs and tar around. It takes bugs off with a fair amount of ease. I think the tar part should be taken out of the name. It will remove tar, but it takes way too much rubbing. I tried some tar spots just rubbing with no cleaner, and some with this cleaner, and the time was about the same to remove the tar. I do not like this product at all for tar. Car anyone find a good fast-acting one?
