Pros: If you're worried about gel and chlorine, these have none. Cons: I could go on and on.

Pros: no gel, no perfumes, dye free, latex free, tape tabs instead of Velcro Cons: expensive and hard to find in stores
I have been using cloth diapers during the day and disposables at night on my daughter Emma. At first, I used Drypers disposable diapers for nighttime, but after a local store stoped selling them, I switched to those new Pampers First Steps diapers. ...
Pros: TBT Free & do not contain recycled materials. Cons: leaks, uncomfortable, expensive.
I am not quite sure where to start, there are just so many things I did not like about this diaper. I guess I will start with how I ended up with it. My family tries to live a very healthy lifestyle. So when my mom was at the health food ...
Pros: Good for environment/baby. Cons: Too thick! Way too thick!
Prior to giving birth I started to really think about what kind of diapers we would use for our son. My husband could care less about the brand, his concern was the fact that he now HAD a concern about diapers in general! Anyway, I try to conscientious ...
Pros: no gel, no chlorine--this alone makes them priceless Cons: takes caution to activate the tape & apply it
When I was planning a trip to the greek islands, I was hopeful to find some disposable diaper solution since laundry was not really an option at the hotel. Most important to me were gel-free and chlorine-free. All I could find were Tushies. I proceeded ...
Pros: No chemicals, close to cloth Cons: expensive, leaky, bulky, loud tabs, got a bad rash
I bought this diaper after discovering the 7th generation diaper has chlorine in it even though they entitle the diaper a "chlorine-free diaper" on the packaging. Very mis-leading and frusterating. I ordered the tushies and discovered that they are ...
Pros: nothing stands out Cons: not appropriate for night
We were given Pampers and Huggies at a baby shower. We didn't like the perfume in them and they leaked all the time. We then tried Seventh Generation and loved them. One day they were out of stock, so we bought these instead. I have very mixed ...
Great for the environment - a little thick in the middle by spicecowboy ,Aug 15 '04
Pros: Good for the environment - cotton fill, no gels. Cons: Awfully thick for walking toddlers
I bought these diapers on a clearout on a website. I was definitely interested in the fact that there were no environmentally harmful chemicals in these diapers. The only problem is, in order to make up for the lack of gel in these diapers, the absorbance is made up for with cotton bulk. This is fine for younger infants, but for the up and around toddler - you pretty much have a waddler!
Love these and have used them for 3 kids by ped-er-doc ,Nov 23 '06
Pros: Do you want "gel" absorbing, just like medication does, into your baby's skin for years? Cons: We have to plan ahead and order enough to have on hand.
I am a pediatrician, so I see a lot of diapers!
We primarily use cloth, but when not at home our three children have exclusively used Tushies Gel-Free since 1996. Each of them used these until potty trained at two to three years. We never, not ever, had leakage, even when worn all night. I am sorry other reviewers did not have the fabulous experience we have had with these diapers! This is the ONLY brand we buy, unless we failed to have enough on hand, and are awaiting an order.
Pros: better than most disposables for the environment, don't contain chlorine Cons: they are expensive, they LEAK, fit poorly, are extremely bulky,
I was looking for an alternative to Huggies, Pampers, etc., something that was not full of chemicals and that would not contribute to landfill. I have tried every kind of disposable diaper out there and this is the worst! They leak...a lot. They do not contour to my sons body and do not fit well. They don't hold much of anything and the fasteners are a nightmare. They are tape (there's a reason why most brands use velcro) and if you check them more than once, they lose their stickiness. One even came off while my son while he was crawling. Since I paid so much for them I am going to finish out my package of 30.
I have read epinions.com for a long time, but this is the first time I felt strongly enough about something that I had to join just to warn others before they experience what I did.
Disposables with out the ICK! by starleigh ,Sep 25 '03
Pros: Extra padding for falls, fit well, contained mess, absorbent without artificial chemicals Cons: Disposable, costly, not so tree friendly.
An acquaintance asked me to watch her daughter for the weekend, with just a handful of diapers. She might be able to make them stretch, but I certainly can't. I walked up to the store and purchased these. I picked these over other diapers available because they have far less harsh chemicals and perfumes than leading disposables. They fit the child well, without leeks (this says a lot because this child lives on fluids). Best of all her rash cleared up by that evening. They did cost about double the price of regular disposables, but it was worth it to know her hieny would be well covered.
If you have to use disposables, I'd recommend these hands down.
Pros: Non toxic materials that don't irritate the babies skin! Cons: Bulkier than Huggies; don't hold as much pee; don't whisk wetness away from skin
When my daughter was born my wife and I started to use Huggies diapers and we also used the wipes from Costco. After a few days my daughter got a nasty rash on her bottom which led to weeks of misery for all of us. It was so bad that every time she did a pee or poop she would start screaming bloody murder from the pain. My wife and I tried to be the fastest dirty diaper detectors in the west, but no matter how quickly we changed her diaper the rash would not go away. We finally were told to either use a cloth diaper or try tushies by a friend. Tushies worked like a charm! My daughters rash went away within ONE DAY! It turns out that she has sensitive skin and all the chemicals used in regular diapers and wipes irritated her. It's true that the tushies diapers are more bulky than Huggies and they do not hold as much pee either, but they do not irritate! Eventually we switched back to huggies after my daughter was older and now her skin is not bothered by Huggies diapers, but we still use tushies wipes!
Pros: none Cons: read review, everything about these diapers are cons!
They run small. They will not last overnight. They are not made to withstand more than 2hrs of wear. The tabs are made of tape, if you don't get it right the first time, don't even bother trying again with that diaper you'd have to get a new one. It would no longer stick. The diaper is so stiff, my baby could not move in them. Please do not buy just because of all the hype about the gel, dye, etx..free.... If you really want that for your child now a days, just go back to the cloth diapers. Otherwise, Luvs and Huggies supreme are the way to go. I love their velcro tabs. And the Huggies overnites are a must.
Absorbs Good but Thick and Hot by gouldie ,Jun 04 '06
Pros: Fragrance and Chemical Free with Good Absorption Cons: So thick they can be hot. Wide in the middle between legs rather than contoured.
I bought these diapers because my daughter is allergic to fragrance and liked the idea that they were all natural and chemical free. They do a good job absorbing and are good for nighttime. They are very thick to make up for gel free absorption. Sometimes they would give my daughter a little heat rash. They are wide between the legs which causes her to waddle. They would be better if the diaper was more contoured in the middle.
I bought them through the Tushies website which only sells them by the carton and ships them every three weeks. Would recommend for nighttime as fragrance free alternative. I am going to try the Ultralight Mother Nature diapers for the summer to see if they are less hot.
Pros: - Healthier than gel-filled alternatives.
- Comfortable, breathable, effective (even overnight).
Cons: - Occasionally sticky tabs don't function properly but this happens with Pampers and Huggies too.
We have used cloth on our son since he was born (he's now aged 18 months) and have used Tushies at night since he started sleeping longer periods. We also use them if we go out. They are great - comfortable, and hold a lot. They rarely leak and are infinitely preferable to Pampers etc, as they contain no absorbent gel (which has been linked to diaper rash, and lowered sperm count in males, among other things).
They're definitely bulkier than the gel-filled diapers but this has not held back our son from crawling, walking and moving about. They also don't smell of artificial perfumes and are totally natural.
Incidentally, the cheapest place I have found to buy these is on Amazon.com (about $43 per case, containing 4 packs).
