Inexpensive does NOT equal quality product!
by daybrkd ,Jul 09 '07
Pros: Relatively inexpensive Cons: Increased break-outs, oiliness
Like others, I tried this because it was cheaper than ProActive. You get what you pay for. Within a few days of using the products I was breaking out every day to every other day. Gave it 4 full weeks and the break-outs continued. Switched back to ProActive and my face cleared up within days. ProActive feels better, smells better and works!

Terrible Stuff
by smg2001 ,Jun 27 '07
Pros: Cost Cons: Everything else - greasy feeling skin - complexion worsened
I have used ProActive for awhile, but decided to see if the budget savings would be worth it. IT WAS NOT! My complexion got worse, my skin got oily and my face feels dirty most of the time.
I've given it 45 days to work - this is not a rash review.
The cleanser does not have the 'exfolient' that ProActive does and my face feels gross from the start of using this product.
I am going back to ProActiv - the money is worth is for this type of product. They do not compare in quality.

Worth the cost several times over
by reenboe ,Apr 29 '07
Pros: Much cheaper than Proactive. It WORKS! Cons: Larger bottle of toner needed.
This stuff worked better than I ever imagined it possibly could. I decided to only use it once a day instead of twice so as not to dry out my skin too much, and it still worked wonderfully. I'd say that my face was cleared up within about 2 weeks. I now only use all 3 steps every other day and just the cleanser every day.
I would recommend to those of you whose skin seems particularly sensitive to some of the ingredients that you try using it only once a day or every other day. For those that this works for it works amazingly well. I recommended it to our school nurse and she tried it and is very pleased as well. If you have stubborn acne and/or random break outs, it's worth your while to at least give AcneFree a try.

It Really Works
by pinenutsforme ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Clears up skin, keeps black heads at bay, cheap, easy to find Cons: Not moisturizing in the slightest but not drying either.
I have dealt with acne since the age of 10. While I have never had "pizza face" skin, its been bad enough to be a great embarasment. I have tried many prescriptions and everything over the counter. The only thing that ever worked was ProActive until one day, after 2 years of use, it just stopped and my skin got much worse. After searching for several years I came across this product in June 2006. Aside from the occasional small break out, generally due to my period, my skin is as clear as anyone elses.Acne Free is not drying but it certainly does not moisturize so you will need to use a facial lotion of some sort. Unfortunately they only sell the cleaner and toner apart from the kit. Since the repair lotion is smaller in size I tend to run out of it more quickly and have to buy a whole new kit just to get it, even when I have lots of cleaner and toner left.

acne free
by paintballer09 ,Mar 27 '07
Pros: this stuff works Cons: the "acne terminator" BURNS, but i think t is sold separately.
this product seems to work really well...However it seems to me that if you use it for a few weeks then stop use your skin will break out worse than before using the product.

Former Proactive User and AcneFree user, Now Severe AcneFree
by whitdet11446 ,Feb 04 '07
Pros: Price, less time for blemishes to fade away. Cons: doesn't reduce the amount of blemishes, Corrective toner doesn't last long enough
I was originally a Proactive user for 3 years with minimal to moderate success. I switched to AcneFree after seeing it at Meijers in the Detroit area and price difference with Proactive. I used the AcneFree for 2 months with no success. I switched to Severe AcneFree and have used that for nearly 4 months. So far the results have been moderate. Severe AcneFree seems to make blemishes go away faster than Proactive. However, it seems that Severe AcneFree has not reduced the rate of blemishes that appear. Finally, the corrective toner should last longer.

REALLY WORKS!!!
by aggiefanatic ,Jan 23 '07
Pros: It does what it guarantees, and it isn't expensive. Cons: NOTHING WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AcneFree really works!!! I got it on Friday and its already Tuesday. I only had a few pimples on my cheek and some around my nose. I tried a lot of stuff, but it always made me real red and it made my skin peel. My mom bought me this product and it started working within 2 days! My chin started clearing up and my nose was clear! you could only see a little bit of red from where my zits were, but then, I used the scar fade&erase and it works a whole bunch! Now you have to squint your eyes to see the redness! This didn't dry my skin out or make me irritated, although it might for other people. I really recommend this to anyone no matter if they have a bunch of acne or just a few pimples.

Ruins your clothing, towels and bed linens
by savvyshopper76 ,Nov 25 '06
Pros: None that I can think of. Didn't dry up my face like I had hoped. Cons: Ruined numerous clothing towels and bed linens.
I purchased this product b/c I didn't want to spend the extra money on Proactiv. I ended up with: 1- Shirts with bleached out necks. This happened because whether I put the lotion on before or after I got dressed there was really no way of keeping my face from touching my clothes. The lotion acted just like bleach. 2- Bleached Towels. After I cleansed my face, I rinsed, then patted dry with a towel. Well, I had blue towels, and now they all have light pink blobs all over them. 3- Bed Linens also bleached. My pillowcase has pink areas. My boyfriend's pillowcase is tan. This was caused by me washing my face and applying lotion before bed, and sleeping on the pillowcase. I highly doubt there is actual bleach in the product, but whatever it is, it acts just like it. If I could do it all over again, I would've purchased Proactiv. Who knows... maybe that has a bleaching effect too? If you do end up buying this product, don't forget to buy white towels and white bed linens while you're at the store.

love it!
by nicolemuj ,Nov 13 '06
Pros: price, easy, works well! Cons: I run out of the toner (step 2) fast!
I am 32...have oily skin, large pores on my cheeks and adult acne on my chin. The AcneFree system has really, really helped clear my skin...it's softer now and a lot less oily throughout the day!
I've tried Proactiv with minimal results. Tried this as a fluke and am PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! Lately, I've had several people say to me...your skin looks so soft...your skin is so clear...It's the AcneFree!!!

spend more and get Proactiv instead
by cpilunc ,Oct 24 '06
Pros: cheap Cons: smells, lotion is awful
I've used both Proactiv and the AcneClear. Like most of the other reviewers I switched to save money. The products are not similar as I was led to believe. The face wash is glue-like and doesn't lather. At all. I really miss the Proactiv exfoliating wash! I also hate the lotion. It kind of sits on the skin and is not absorbded. It's very gritty so you can't wear makeup over it. Thus I can only put it on at night wheras with my Proactiv I could use it twice a day. I didn't find it to be overly drying like some of the other users but I still don't like it. My face is so-so. NOt much worse, not any better. I do think Proactiv kept my face clearer. I think people who like Proactiv will be very disappointed with the product.

This has surprised me... and I'm never surprised.
by philosophia ,Oct 07 '06
Pros: Only thing that has worked. Cons: Small portions in bottles, and lotion isn't moisturizing.
I'm a 21-year-old female, who has had acne for 8 years. I've tried pro-active. I've tried anti-biotics. I've tried all kinds of prescription topical agents including benzol peroxide. I've tried all of the OTC cleansers and the latter, and this has been the only thing that has worked.
My acne used to be mild to moderate, but started to get much worse about 7 months ago due to stress and new lifestyle habits. I still break out, but not nearly as much, and my skin is overall much smoother.
I have fair skin that is undeniably sensitive, and my only disclaimer is to not overuse the product and to stay out of the sun if you're prone to getting fried like I am.

Cheaper than Pro-Activ
by mel972 ,Sep 28 '06
Pros: Same ingredients as Pro-Activ, but cheaper. Cons: You may run out of one bottle before the others are empty.
Much cheaper than Pro-Activ. I liked this acne treatment because it actually worked and I didn't have to order through the mail to get it. Wal-mart usually sells it for about $18.

It works!!!
by daisysmile ,Aug 31 '06
Pros: No irritation, can buy at local drugstores, price is reasonable Cons: wish made an exfoliating product
I have tried about everything on my face, even Proactive... Everything would leave my face red, irritated, and still having breakouts.. With Acnefree I have had no redness and my skin is looking so much better.. I could feel and tell a difference in two days. It stopped new breakouts. I use the three step and the terminator.

Don't waste your money
by prettyispink33 ,Aug 29 '06
Pros: Inexpensive, claims to work miracles Cons: worse acne, sensitive to sun
I bought this product because I have light acne. I wouldn't even call it acne, an occasional pimple once or twice a week. Well I got this product because I had heard of the successes from Proactiv. Plus I had a $2.00 off coupon, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Well now I am sitting here 2 weeks later with worse pimples than I had before. I have crater-like pimples especially around my chin and mouth. I feel and look disgusting. I don't think I would recommend this product to anyone.

Works Great!
by nl_siren_bod ,Aug 28 '06
Pros: Half the price than proactive. You can get it at your nerby pharmacy or walmart. Cons: nothing yet
I have been using this product for 3 weeks now and it really does work! My face is clean and clear of acne. I started to get acne on my face after my 21 birthday and had to do something about it.
