AcneFree is Better than Proactiv
by pennyarcadia ,Sep 27 '05
Pros: Clear skin, great price, conveniently sold in local stores. Cons: Ugly bottles and packaging.
I bought AcneFree because no other product I was using for my skin was helping it get clearer. I was four months pregnant and broken out! Because I had tried Proactiv as a teenager and gotten poor results and dry, irritated skin I honestly didn't think AcneFree would be much different, but for half the price of Proactiv I decided it was worth a shot. Well, within three days I noticed a difference and by the end of two weeks, I had gained that radiant look pregnant women are rumored to have! For my sensitive skin the secret was rotating the usage of the products and not using all three at one time. For example, at night I only use the toner and in the morning just the cleanser. I put the lotion on only once a day. I am now nine months along and still have significantly clearer skin with no irritated dry patches. I highly recommend this product.

READ MY REVIEW IF YOU WANT CLEAR SKIN
by denise78 ,Feb 10 '06
Pros: AMAZING HAS CLEARED MY SKIN ALOT Cons: DRIES THE SKIN. BUT WORKS GREAT!!! WITH MOISTURIZER
I defintely love this product. I have been using this for about 2 weeks. AT first my acne actually got worse and i got 3 really big pimples that i had never seen on my face before. Before i had a lot of little bumps around my forehead and in my chin and around my lips. i have had acne since i was 11, not the scary kind where you get stares from people but bad enough for me to worry about it. With this product i am actually seen the tiny bumps getting smaller every day. This is happening because after 4 days of using the product i started using a moisturizer after the repairing lotion had dried. i have never used a product that helps with the blackheads and whiteheads and too with the small red pimples that i use to have. finally i no longer have pimples only some white heads, that are going away. i beleive this product will work for you if you use a moisturizer afterward. and if you dont use a moisturizer then try using only at night if you feel you skin is dry.

Eureka!
by debbiekola ,Oct 05 '05
Pros: Effectiveness, cost, convenience Cons: Bottles tough to squeeze, name of product
I am a 42 y.o. woman with adult acne. I was using ProActive for about 10 years with decent results, but still wanted something that worked even better. I discovered AcneFree and gave it a try. I immediately liked the cleansing lotion better than ProActive. It produced a lather and was much gentler on the skin than ProActive. Step 2, the toner, is similar to ProActive, and I am not sure of its effectiveness, but I apply it to my skin and proceed to step 3. I LOVE the repairing lotion. It seems to suck up all the oil and the little crystals feel great, also it dries instantly. I apply it with my fingers rather than a cotton ball, which may help some of those who complain about this step. I have had two blemishes in the 2 months that I've used AcneFree and they were so minimal and hardly noticeable. An added bonus is that my skin actually looks and feels younger looking. I am sad to find that it doesn't work for everyone. I feel like I struck gold.

Ruins your clothing, towels and bed linens
by savvyshopper76 ,Nov 25 '06
Pros: None that I can think of. Didn't dry up my face like I had hoped. Cons: Ruined numerous clothing towels and bed linens.
I purchased this product b/c I didn't want to spend the extra money on Proactiv. I ended up with: 1- Shirts with bleached out necks. This happened because whether I put the lotion on before or after I got dressed there was really no way of keeping my face from touching my clothes. The lotion acted just like bleach. 2- Bleached Towels. After I cleansed my face, I rinsed, then patted dry with a towel. Well, I had blue towels, and now they all have light pink blobs all over them. 3- Bed Linens also bleached. My pillowcase has pink areas. My boyfriend's pillowcase is tan. This was caused by me washing my face and applying lotion before bed, and sleeping on the pillowcase. I highly doubt there is actual bleach in the product, but whatever it is, it acts just like it. If I could do it all over again, I would've purchased Proactiv. Who knows... maybe that has a bleaching effect too? If you do end up buying this product, don't forget to buy white towels and white bed linens while you're at the store.

Proactiv users: a cheaper, more easily obtainable product that works
by jae2808 ,Oct 31 '04
Pros: 1/2 the price of Proactiv, works just as well, not too drying Cons: Repair lotion is gritty
I have been using Proactive off and on for about 5 years, usually in the summer when I usually get some acne, but this year I broke out badly, the worst it has ever been, and I was out of Proactiv. My hairdresser told me this would work as well as Proactiv, so I tried it. It was about half the price, so I figured I'd try it. To my surprise, my face cleared up in about a week (about the same length of time it takes Proactiv). There are a few differences though. The face cleanser did not dry my face out as much as Proactiv. The toner is about the same. The only thing that surprised me was the AcneFree lotion. It went on gritty, with the same texture as the cleanser. It felt like I was putting a face wash on and not rinsing it off. Despite that, it didn't irritate my skin at all. Overall, this a great choice if you don't want to spend the money ordering Proactiv, and still want to remain acne-free.

burned and peeled - no thanks!
by patient1 ,Apr 22 '06
Pros: Will dry out your skin if that is what you want Cons: Will dry out your skin, tighten and burn as well
I have mild adult acne and combination skin. After just 5 days of usage my skin completely dried out and burned. After washing alone my skin felt tight like it would crack. Maybe my acne isn't severe enough so I don't recommend this unless you have severe acne.

Works for me
by chase050280 ,Aug 15 '05
Pros: Keeps my skin clear Cons: Wal-mart is often sold out of it
I have read the other reviews and i don't really know what people mean by the repairing lotion being 'gritty'. I don't find it to be gritty at all. Step 1, the purifying cleanser, is meant to exfoliate the skin and is gritty, but not step 3. Perhaps they are not drying off their face after step 1. Likewise, maybe i have durable skin, but AcneFree doesn't dry out my skin at all. In fact, i thought my skin was softer after having used AcneFree for awhile. Plus, i have found it to be extremely effective in controling my acne, which admittedly, is not as bad as it once was when i was in my late teens. I am now in my 20's. Also, it should be noted, I took accutane 5 years ago.

Prescriptions work better
by meelind ,Sep 24 '05
Pros: A slight improvement in mild acne. Cons: Didn't clear my face as much as I hoped. Prescriptions work better.
I have suffered from acne through all my teenage years and currently into my 20's. I no longer have insurance to cover a dermatologist so I decided to try AcneFree. I haven't seen much of an improvement yet and it has been several weeks so far. Perhaps it cleared up a bit of my mild acne but I get some more prominent pimples on my face now which I usually didn't get before. I wish I could go back to prescription treatment. I am not giving up on this product yet though.

REALLY WORKS!!!
by aggiefanatic ,Jan 23 '07
Pros: It does what it guarantees, and it isn't expensive. Cons: NOTHING WHATSOEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AcneFree really works!!! I got it on Friday and its already Tuesday. I only had a few pimples on my cheek and some around my nose. I tried a lot of stuff, but it always made me real red and it made my skin peel. My mom bought me this product and it started working within 2 days! My chin started clearing up and my nose was clear! you could only see a little bit of red from where my zits were, but then, I used the scar fade&erase and it works a whole bunch! Now you have to squint your eyes to see the redness! This didn't dry my skin out or make me irritated, although it might for other people. I really recommend this to anyone no matter if they have a bunch of acne or just a few pimples.

It Really Works
by pinenutsforme ,Apr 08 '07
Pros: Clears up skin, keeps black heads at bay, cheap, easy to find Cons: Not moisturizing in the slightest but not drying either.
I have dealt with acne since the age of 10. While I have never had "pizza face" skin, its been bad enough to be a great embarasment. I have tried many prescriptions and everything over the counter. The only thing that ever worked was ProActive until one day, after 2 years of use, it just stopped and my skin got much worse. After searching for several years I came across this product in June 2006. Aside from the occasional small break out, generally due to my period, my skin is as clear as anyone elses.Acne Free is not drying but it certainly does not moisturize so you will need to use a facial lotion of some sort. Unfortunately they only sell the cleaner and toner apart from the kit. Since the repair lotion is smaller in size I tend to run out of it more quickly and have to buy a whole new kit just to get it, even when I have lots of cleaner and toner left.

Don't buy
by newsongchick ,Jul 22 '06
Pros: It was cheap, that's it Cons: Didn't work AT ALL, leaves a weird film
I only used the Acne and Blackhead Terminator. It was sold separately.
I thought that since it had both Salicylic Acid AND Benzoyl Peroxide that this stuff would work. Boy was I wrong! This stuff doesn't AT ALL. It did literally nothing for it. Tap Water works better than this stuff. It was a complete waste of money. Buy any other product but this. I have tried A LOT of stuff and all work at least a little. But not this one.
Avoid this like the plague.
I know it seems like I am being dramatic, but it is the only way I can get across how useless this stuff is.

Cheaper than Pro-Activ
by mel972 ,Sep 28 '06
Pros: Same ingredients as Pro-Activ, but cheaper. Cons: You may run out of one bottle before the others are empty.
Much cheaper than Pro-Activ. I liked this acne treatment because it actually worked and I didn't have to order through the mail to get it. Wal-mart usually sells it for about $18.

Works Great!
by nl_siren_bod ,Aug 28 '06
Pros: Half the price than proactive. You can get it at your nerby pharmacy or walmart. Cons: nothing yet
I have been using this product for 3 weeks now and it really does work! My face is clean and clear of acne. I started to get acne on my face after my 21 birthday and had to do something about it.

Good so far...
by brandi2r6 ,Dec 09 '04
Pros: Clean Cons: Drying my face.
I have been wanting to try Proactive, then the other day I saw Acnefree so I decided to get it. So far it seems to be clearing up my skin...I've been using it for about a week. The only down side I can see is that it is drying out my skin, and when I try to use an additional moisturizer to help out the dryness, my skin burns, where it's dry, for a few minutes. I don't know if anyone else is/has experienced this, but I'm trying to find out if it's just my skin or if I should change my moisturizer to an additional one completely. Let me know if anyone has any info.

Worth the cost several times over
by reenboe ,Apr 29 '07
Pros: Much cheaper than Proactive. It WORKS! Cons: Larger bottle of toner needed.
This stuff worked better than I ever imagined it possibly could. I decided to only use it once a day instead of twice so as not to dry out my skin too much, and it still worked wonderfully. I'd say that my face was cleared up within about 2 weeks. I now only use all 3 steps every other day and just the cleanser every day.
I would recommend to those of you whose skin seems particularly sensitive to some of the ingredients that you try using it only once a day or every other day. For those that this works for it works amazingly well. I recommended it to our school nurse and she tried it and is very pleased as well. If you have stubborn acne and/or random break outs, it's worth your while to at least give AcneFree a try.
