  • Whitney Houston Looks To You To Reenergize Her Music Career

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Sep 6, 2009
Pros: She sounds reinvigorated and ready to turn the page and move on.
Cons: There isn't that special song that people will remember the album for.

Summary: It took her seven years, but Whitney Houston is back, and if you believe the themes of her new album, I Look To You, she's put her problems in her rear view mirror. The first thing that should be talked about is her legendary voice. It's ... read more

  • Whitney's Final Bow

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jun 6, 2012
Pros: The title song is very inspirational
Cons: "Voice" likeThis is not the young Whitney

Summary: Did you know that June is Black Music Month?  I could not resist the opportunity to pay tribute to a fallen star whose brilliance was snuffed out too soon.  Before all the hip hop, there was a lady and a true songbird by the name of Whitney ... read more

  • This isn't who America fell for-- but it is who they still make fun of.

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Mar 14, 2010
    Pros: A few pop hooks.
Cons: Whitney's HORRENDOUS vocal performance; scattershot production; really crappy songs; Diane Warren repeats herself.

Summary: = Now through your hands up For the next three minutes It’s about the lovers Now, baby, stand up = There are singers and then there are pop stars. Sometimes they overlap, and Whitney Houston was supposed to ... read more

  • Throw Away The Negativity, Girl!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Dec 1, 2009
Pros: Raspy Yet New Soulful Voice, Mostly Successful In All Parts
Cons: "Call You Tonight," Some Minor Problems But Eh.

Summary: Whitney Houston's comeback had a long time coming. It's hard not to look at the album's extremely photoshopped cover and think of all the drugs Whitney used to do, especially when witnessing the upscale, and highly publisized, divorce between her ex ... read more

  • "I Look To You": The Emancipation of Whitney

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Sep 12, 2009
Pros: Whitney injects these songs with power and believability. Contemporary without trying too hard.
Cons: "A Song for You" is a travesty. Shame on whoever green-lit this mess.

Summary: No one loves anything more than a good phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes story. Someone who's risen to the top, then crashed to the lowest of lows only to rise back up again. Case in point: the resurrection of Whitney Houston. Once America's ... read more

  • Will you love Whitney like she never left?

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Sep 7, 2009
Pros: Whitney can sing still, Akon's songs, more tangible
Cons: Her voice has definitely changed, some lazy songwriting,

Summary: Anytime the topic of Whitney Houston comes up in my mind the word tragic has never been far behind. Gifted with a vocal instrument of awe-inspiring power, miraculous range and a tone so purely beautiful you can’t help but know it’s a gift ... read more
