Keep your Garmin! Something is rotten here in Epinions!

by amitayus , Oct 18 '05
Pros: A good concept. Keep your eyes on the road.
Cons: Very expensive and does not work as well as Garmin.
I bought one of these to replace my Garmin Streetpilot III. I relied on the glowing reviews here at Epinions to help make my decision. The VERY strange thing is that while there are 29 reviews, 26 ALL GIVE FIVE STARS. Two of the 29 give 4 stars and ...

The Truth about VCommand... Love it / Hate it

by paulotis , Mar 06 '06
Pros: Voice Activated, No screen to attract your attention away from the road.
Cons: Sometimes, not often, it is like a child... Just doesn't want to listen.
Owned 1 year. Brought from GPS Explorer. These people are excellent with followup. I see 5 star reviews & 1 star reviews. They are all pretty accurate. I love it because it works 99% of the time. It locks on to a signal very quickly. The ...

VERY Impressed with the VCom system

by retsub , Sep 08 '05
Pros: -Safety-Eyes on road at all times -Very effective GPS -Easy to use
Cons: - The detour command only fair - miss screen map only rarely
I posted my first impressions of our newly purchased Vcom on this site on September 8th after using the system for several weeks (at bottom of this). Now, after almost 3 months of use, I thought I would give anyone interested an update and some thoughts ...

LOVE my VCom unit!!!!

by scubasinger , Sep 17 '05
Pros: Just talk; extensive coverage
Cons: Sometimes slow to aquire a GPS signal; occasional misunderstanding of spelled words
It would be hard for me to come up with enough superlative words to describe this system. It is awesome!!! A minute or so of speaking to and answering questions from the unit and I'm good to go. One of the most incredible examples of its ability was ...

My opinion DO not waste your time or $$$ on VCOM

by jajohns08 , Nov 18 '05
Pros: Not hard to set up. Voice communication is a great concept
Cons: The product is terrible and not worth any price.
Recently after spending lots of time looking at Vcom I decided to try the product. Out of the box everything about it from the leather travel pouch to the microphone used shows to be high quality. Set up is very straight forward and the manuals are ...

Vcomm a new concept

by john1956 , Oct 22 '05
Pros: Safety, upgradeable, invisible
Cons: slight learning curve
I have been using the Vcomm for about one month and am so impressed with it, I wanted to review it. First let me say that the unit is very reliable and is more convenient than the screen-based GPS systems. It takes time and patience to adjust to the ...

This is a real review

by edieann , Sep 13 '06
Pros: Completely voice activated with a human voice response. Easy to use anywhere in 48/U.S. Portable.
Cons: A couple of commands are inefficient but still useful.
I bought the VCOM 2 years ago and it has been a godsend to me who cannot read street signs very well, nor GPS screens. I've only had problems with it on a few occasions such as in Prescott, Arizona where the community is building very fast and so the map ...

Nice concept; Where IS The Support and Upgrades?

by martyp , Aug 25 '07
Pros: hands free; no need for screen; really cool.
Cons: No support; no ability to upgrade;
Got the unit from GPS Explorer (?) online almost 3 yrs ago. version 12.xx. Promised newer version, more recent maps. Have not been able to contact anyone, or via email have no responses. The maps are at least 5 yrs old based on roads that either do ...

my boy VCom

by fashionpol , Jul 17 '05
Pros: Makes you feel like you're truly in the future!
Cons: none
My whole family loves our "Navigator, although we often refer to it by its "rapper name" V-Com, thanks to my daughter. I feel so much better when she is off to new destinations, knowing V-Com is with her, to get her back on track if she makes a wrong ...

Not worth the money

by yellowbandit , Mar 12 '07
Pros: When it works, voice recognition is the way to go.
Cons: Bad trip routing.
I have had this system for a couple of years. It's an older version of s/w, but after reading reviews I don't think a newer version would help. I've had the same problems other reviewer have had; poor reception, bad directions, and goofy voice ...

Me and my MINI

by topbox , Aug 12 '05
Pros: Wonderful because you don't need a funky screen.
Cons: I wish I would of found vcom earlier.
I was looking for a navigation system for my mini cooper automobile. I didn't buy the factory one that would have cost me 3k. Anyone that has been in a MINI knows there is no space for a navigation system. There is no practical place to mount the screen, ...

V Com talking navigational GPS unit Awesome

by paullee01 , Sep 29 '05
Pros: Amazingly accurate! Detailed directions! Awesome GPS unit!
Cons: Unable to locate a street if you do not have a house address #
I purchased my V Command from Advanced Navigation. The width and length of the V Com unit is about the size of a CD case and approximately 2" thick. Included was a microphone, GPS antenna and cigarette lighter adapter. It also comes with a zippered ...

VCommand really is easy to use. It really works and is way cool. . .

by lbuser , Dec 14 '05
Pros: Ease of use, no distracting screen, nothing to dial or type or press
Cons: So far anything I can think of could probably be improved with future software updates.
A couple years ago I bought my wife a Garmin IQue. We tried numerous times to learn how to use it. We both have technical jobs but using that GPS was a pain. Maybe we're lazy. Maybe that's us. It's been an expensive address book ever since. I found ...

Vcom.... Total Junk
by gpsman0678 ,Feb 07 '06
Pros: screenless for safety
Cons: No customer support...ever No dealer network or support
This unit is ridiculous. The unit is a Bad joke. It loses signal 30% of the time. It cannot remember names like " my Home"... You must use "Directory 1,2,3, etc then try to remember what all these directories refer to. Customer service is non-existant. You leave an email or phone message.... and NOBODY EVER calls back. The real problem is that this unit is sold by so few dealers that no reputable shop will install it ( they only want to install units they sell and rightly so)
Save your money.... this unit is the worst. go with magellan or Garmin... real professionals with real dealers and customer support.
