Pros: Outstanding display; pivot and swivel action. Cons: No USB hub…
I have always been a huge fan of ViewSonic monitors. My love affair with ViewSonic dates back to when I bought my very first ViewSonic, the 17G way back in 1993. To this day, the monitor is still going strong; I have noticed no picture fade or ...
Pros: Great picture quality, ergonomics, design. High quality product. Cons: many problems with included software.
Its finally on my desk. Just a few days, but enough to get used to it and examine some details. Its a simple looking, professional LCD screen offering enough speed and great picture quality. I love its simplicity and design, and there ...
Pros: Bright, responsive, flexible, the ROTATE function alone is great. Good history. Sturdy, VERY adjustable. Cons: NO USB, not a big deal.
I have had this monitor since October, 2006. I drove friends nuts looking at different ones and asking endless questions. But a friend of mine STILL has the predecessor of this unit and loves it 3-4 years later, and HE had to pay over $700 then due to ...
Pros: great color, contrast, brightness, viewing angle, sharpness, ergonomics, value, design, and reputation. Cons: none I can think of.
(revised 2006/09/27 - see below) I did a great deal of investigation about monitors prior to securing this purchase, and concluded the Viewsonic VP930b offers the most sensible combination of utility and cost. I had purchased a VP730b a few months ...
Pros: picture quality Cons: the Picturesuite software caused problems and could not be removed.
This monitor has a great picture. Much better than my old CRT and maybe the best 19" around. Very well designed. Only problem i have is with the display sending an input message everytime the screen goes blank. The message tell you that you are connected with the Dsub-1 input. This might be slightly useful when you first install it, but then it becomes a real nuisance and can not be removed. Still a very nice package. Yes, one dead pixel, but barely noticeable
Pros: great lookin and very sharp with no reflection Cons: Appaling customer service
I bought two of these monitors and the one that works is great. What isn't great is the viewsonic customer service as they promised to replace the broken one a month ago and i'm still waiting. I've had a few conversations with them at my expense as they refuse to telephone me.
My advice is not to buy viewsonis unless your sure you will not have a problem.
This is a 19 inch LCD of quality. That means that it is not inexpensive. But you get what you pay for. Response time is excellent, it will play fast DVD movies without any artifacting or smearing.
Ergonomically it's fine. The height adjustment is perfect, and cabling and tilt are dialed in. No problems here.
The display is the bottom line, how good is it?
The answer is, not bad. I had no dead pixels but some "stuck" pixels which were easily cured. Once that evolution was completed the monitor ran OK.
It's bright, out of the box. But it is adjustable as far as brightness/contast, etc. User friendly here. The normal settings seem best.
Color registration is fine, high res digital photographs come out perfect. The native mode of this monitor is 1280 x 1024, which pretty much means a serious graphics card.
I use an ATI Radeon 9550, which is OK but not exactly the hottest on the block. But it does drive this monitor.
No problems with this setup.
In sum, what can I say. I'm very pleased with this monitor, physically it is perfect.
Pros: Great base, great picture. Cons: Poor customer service. No way to escalate disgust.
Bought two of these and one worked great.
The second one had to be returned twice.
The 1st time they had it for two months stating parts were not available. They eventually repaired it and returned it whereupon it worked for another month and went bad again.
I have been waiting for over 2 months now for ViewSonic to send me a replacement. Actually they sent me a cheaper VP930B and said it was comparable... hmmm 500 to 1 vs. 1000 to 1 contrast ratio. Not hardly.
In any event they are still out of stock. There are dozens of retailers that have them, but ViewSonic can't get them in and their customer service reps say they can not tell me when or if they will be available. So I don't know when I will get another monitor.

Still no replacement VP930B. Received another VP920B requiring me to make another trip to UPS to return a monitor of lesser quality.
Viewsonics reps were very polite but have absolutely no idea when the VP930B will be in stock.
They have now spent well over $100 in UPS costs sending these monitors back and forth across the country.
Viewsonic VP930b rated #1 for 19" monitors by access1 ,Apr 01 '06
Pros: The King. 15lbs verses 40lbs. Consumes 40 Watts verses 85Watts. Reduced radiation on LCDs. Cons: Fast moving video a touch behind a good CRT. For video Plasmas TVs are King.
Finally decided to upgrade my six year old 19" Samsung Syncmaster CRT monitor. After reading a couple reviews (PCWorld and Tomshardware) on 19" monitors, I decided on the VP930b. For $370 at PC-Connection the deal was sealed. For Text rendering, Gaming, and DVDs/Video it was judged the best.
Toms Hardware calls it "The last 100%-all-around monitor we've seen is the ViewSonic VP930". See link at http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/03/27/the_spring_2006_lcd_collection/page45.html.
In comparing the two side by side I prefer the Viewsonic for office application, and it was a toss up for video. Video is more lively on the VP930b, but CRTs are still better for fast moving images. Still photographs are superior on the VP930b.
