I've always wanted an LCD to replace my 17" Trinitron monitor one of these days when I can justify the price, but it would have to be at least a 17", maybe even larger. Well, I recently got to work with the ViewSonic VX900 19" LCD and had to restrain...
Pros: Great picture & color, analog/digital inputs, extensive controls, cheap! Cons: Viewsonic's dead pixel policy - everyone may not be as lucky as me.
I bought the VX 900 for my mother but decided to 'test drive' it myself for a few weeks before handing it over - who could have resisted? Finding a nice 15" lcd monitor isn't a problem - I saw many 15" screens that looked great - but finding a nice 19"...
Pros: Great screen, DVI interface, thorough menu, TrueColor support, stylish. Good value. Cons: Awkward initial cable setup, no height adjustment.
If you can afford it, this is a great monitor. I also own a SGI 1600SW, but I needed a second monitor for dual-head support. Since SGI is no longer making the 1600SW, I decided to try for something else. After much (too much) research, I decided on...
Pros: Brilliant bright picture,
vibrant accurate colours,
solid construction,
easy to install,
ergonomic connections,
excellent value. Cons: Light glow in the corners with black background,
A bit heavy and bulky.
I was able to procure the monitor at such a low price because I had a 15% discount from the retailer ...
Pros: Huge screen, vivid colors, stylish design, wall mountable, ease of use, DVI input Cons: price
Upon first impression, I was disappointed using an analog video input. The images were not crisp, and text looked blurry. Additionaly, during boot-up the analog input would take a noticebly long period of time to "sync". I thought I'd made a mistake...
Pros: Great looking equipment Cons: Horrible reliability and customer service. THEY LIE!
This is both a review of the VX900 and the Viewsonic corporation itself. When I purchased the VX900, I was replacing a Viewsonic 17" CRT monitor that came as part of a computer package I purchased 3 years earlier. The reason for replacing it is that it ...
Pros: Large display, compact, flat-screen, auto adjusts. Cons: expensive, only sound is from built-in speakers, even more options for resolution would be nice.
I was introduced to the ViewSonic brand through work, and I've used one at my job for many years now and recently also bought this monitor for my home comp. (I use it on both my Mac and newly built Pentium IV). It displays well with both and was...
Unreliable and unsupported beauty by jlschuck ,Jul 04 '06
Pros: Beautiful picture. Cons: High cost of repair. No support after purchase.
Well if you like to gamble that you will be lucky and never have a power surge at home, this is a great monitor. And if you do buy one make sure you at least get the extended warranties. Even though this monitor cost a mint, they have really scrimped on the power supply, high voltage circuit, and surge protection-it just isn't there! Repair costs are approximately one third the total product cost on average. Do it yourself repair is next to impossible since they don't stock any replacement parts or make their schematics readily available. Make sure you have a spare monitor!
