I have the Viking Professional Series VUD141SS dishwasher in stainless steel with the brass trim option. I purchased this dishwasher mainly because it is located about 24 inches from my Viking range in stainless steel with brass trim and I wanted it to ...
Viking Professional makes very expensive appliances that have a reputation of being very upscale and in nice houses. Our kithen has 100 percent of its major appliances as vikings and from the experience I can say that the vikings are more hype than what ...
Pros: Handsome, appear and feel sturdy to the touch. Nice stainless finish. Quiet. Cons: The quality and dependability is lacking. Cycle is long.
We bought the Viking shortly after it came out to be part of our Viking kitchen, meaning it's near our Viking range. Like the range, it's required far more in repairs than an appliance should. Another reviewed speaks of the same problem, which is why I ...
Pros: Noise almost undetectable and looks great Cons: Constantly breaking, okay cleaning, long wait for parts, no customer service.
Dishwasher did a good job while it was working. With a family of six it was put through the paces. Over six years it had a few glitches as follows: Washer would clog with food as small as corn, water would not get hotter than 145 degrees. Parts that ...
Within 5 years of normal use (5 loads/week), the circulating pump burned out, the drain pump failed, and the inlet valve broke -- roughly $1000 in repairs for a unit that cost about $1300 when new. The repairman explained why: Viking DOESN'T MAKE DISHWASHERS!! THEY BUY THEM FROM A SWEDISH MANUFACTURER AND SLAP THEIR NAME ON.
WORD TO THE WISE: Do not buy any Viking Dishwasher. You'll be sorry.
Would not recomment this model due to poor reliability by goldenmaddy ,Oct 02 '07
Pros: Appearance, quite, heated wash cycle does an excellent job Cons: Reliability, price, Viking Service support
We purchased model vud141 last year from a viking dealer that sales factory seconds. The dishwasher we purchased was new, but I believe this is an old model. Our dishwasher has broke down twice in the past year. The dishwasher is currently broken [4 weeks] awaiting the Viking Repairman. So far, two service visits and several calls to Viking and they still can't determine the problem. We remodeled last year and installed a Viking range, dishwasher, compactor, refrigerator, microwave, and wine cooler. To date, the range has had 3 problems, the compactor has jammed 4 times, the refrigerator has been repaired 4 times (Viking did pay $200 for food loss) and the dishwasher failed twice. At this point, I would not recommend any Viking appliances due to poor reliability and inexperienced authorized repairmen.
Pros: Looks good. Manual knobs on dishwasher Cons: BAD plastic
I have the same problem as the previous reviewer. All plastic parts in my refrigerator and dishwasher have degraded at an abnormal level. The rails the racks roll on are the worst. The ones in the dishwasher have crumbled completely (after dealing with the wheels running off the racks prior to that). I have replaced the racks in the freezer and the bottom drawer in the fridge. VERY expensive!! Can't use the top rack in the fridge anymore and can't find a replacement for the rails. Also the knobs on my hood did not even last 3 months.
I bought this dishwasher because I wanted to have the "best" and I knew Viking products had this reputation. When the dishwasher was first installed it ran perfect, it was quiet and cleaned really well. After the first year we have had to make numerous repairs. We have almost paid for it twice. I would not recommend this dishwasher unless you plan on buying one every year.
Poor Quality. Would NOT Recommend by pfconrey ,Apr 25 '07
Pros: Quiet Cons: Guide wheels and other small parts constantly breaking off.
We purchased a house that already had Viking appliances in it, including this dishwasher. Many of the plastic parts on both the dishwasher and the refrigerator have broken off under normal use. The top rack is constantly falling off track and is a pain to use. We've already spent $150 having a repair man come out and correct the installation of the dishwasher, so I'm reluctant to spend too much more on repairs. An internet search for parts or repair kits has turned up little, and there's no available documentation for this model on Viking's web site.
For a company that is suppose to have a reputation for excellence, this product receives a D-.
Pros: Look nice. Cons: Expensive, costly to maintain, unreliable and company does not stand behind its products.
We have owned a Viking, refridgerator, 2 dishwashers and oven for 7 years. There has not been a year that has gone by that ALL three appliances have had some sort of service. The company has refused to stand behind its products and steadfastly refused to replace/compensate us in any way for the trouble we have had since owning these products. We would NEVER EVER buy anything from this company. It is too bad because they look great but are FAR too expensive to buy and maintain.
Pros: Quiet, except for drain cycle Cons: Needs constant repairs
Expensive
Small capacity
Bad/small utensil tray
Heating coil stops working even 6 months after repairs. Small interior, difficult to load plates. Small utensil tray. Racks are not adjustable. Even when heating element works, does not thoroughly dry dishes. Doesn't drain throughly. This dishwasher was standard in our development and I've met no one that is satisfied with it
Vikings - not as tough as you think! by conwayhills ,Jul 30 '06
Pros: Nice looking and quiet Cons: UNRELIABLE - REALLY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR!
We bought our Viking 10 years ago, and have certainly bought it twice with all the repair costs. We love the way it looks, and it is quiet, but waiting for repair after repair has really become a burden. Viking should put more emphasis on reliability or offer better (and cheaper) repair services.
Pros: Extremely Quiet Cons: Caught on Fire Shoddy product for the price
We purchased a VUD141 Viking Dishwasher (manufactured for Viking by Asko) for $1600 in 1998 and have had many, many troubles with it since it was new. The only thing I can say good about it is that it was extemely quiet.
During the time we have owned it: it has destroyed the cabinets adjacent to it due to backing up and leaking, the upper rack roller wheels degraded and the ball bearings were all over the place. The racks sometimes came out on their own, and sometimes wouldn't open at all, the lower rack rusted. We were contantly finding grey plastic pieces of the DW in the filter basket.
The finale was that the pump caught on fire last week and burned our kitchen. The insurance company is having to replace the entire kitchen! Our whole house filled with smoke and is having to be completely gone-though and cleaned by a disaster restoration company. Thank God we were home and were able to contain the fire with a fire extinguisher and hose before the fire department got here!!!!! The firemen said they were amazed the whole house didn't go up in flames with the intensity of how the dishwasher burned.
