Goin' ta Vinny's

by quasar quasar is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Dec 22 '00
Pros: enormous portions, roasted garlic, foccacia bread
Cons: enormous portions
I'd forgotten just how large the portions are at Vinny Testa's. I had mentally filed them away as "huge" so when my lunch came today I was in shock. Huge just doesn't cut it. And this was a lunch portion!

Vinny Testa's is an Italian...

Quantity Over Quality, But Still an Excellent (and HUGE) Meal at Vinny Testa's

by jodynu3 , Mar 03 '03
Pros: Huge Portions, Great Service, Good Food, Great For Large Parties, Decent Prices
Cons: Long Waits, Loud Dining Room, Parking, Portions Are Too Big For Some
When I first came to Boston three years ago to attend college, I heard lots of talk about Vinny Testa's - how great the food was, the huge portions and long waits. Being the food lover I am, I had to check out this place ASAP. I literally went to...

Ooooof.....Food Coma....

by lapook76 , Dec 12 '01
Pros: Well-prepared food; very good service; huge portions.
Cons: The portions are so huge, they almost make you lose your appetite.
You know that feeling you get when you eat and eat, past the point when you're full, just because it tastes good and there's lots of food left on your plate, and suddenly you feel so full that you think you're going to pop? My fiance and I jokingly call...

Dessert was the best part of the meal

by phillyloo , Jan 27 '04
Pros: DESSERT!!!!!
Cons: Sour sauce. Small salad.
My sister and our friends like to lunch at any given, flimsy excuse. It saves having to cook later on in the day, and we're usually out doing errands on a Saturday morning, anyway . . . Vinny T's is fairly new in South Portland, and none of us had ...

I honestly thought my belly would POP!!!

by kevlog , Aug 14 '00
Pros: absolutely delicious!!! Huge portions
Cons: ummm.....you need a strong back to bring home leftovers!!!
If you go, bring along the 82nd Airborne Division to polish off the leftovers! This is barely an exaggeration!

I must say, I've never in my 35 (almost 36) years of living on the planet seen this much food in just the appetizer alone! I met a...

Vinny T's : Huge portions, quality food

by beckytcy Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Feb 22 '00
Pros: good food, big portions, good service
Cons: can get crowed
In general, food that comes in large quantities is not very high quality. Institutional dining halls for example! But at Vinny Testa's, a restaurant chain in and around Boston, you get a lot of really great food. This is an advantage because you'll be ...

Losing stars by the minute.

by argyle , Mar 15 '01
Pros: Great food, and lots of it, at a great price.
Cons: They keep reducing the quality of service.
I used to love Vinny Testa's. The food was great, and they gave you plenty of it at a fantastic price. Here was an Italian restaurant that admitted that pasta is, in fact, very cheap. If you went hungry here, it was your own fault.

This is,...

Bring Along The Swiss Army

by mozambique , May 24 '01
Pros: No One Mortal Could Possibly Eat All Of This.
Cons: A Quiet Corner Is Hard To Find.
As anyone will tell you, the portions at Vinny Testa's are HUGE! Whoever wrote the menu either has an odd sense of humor or can't count pass one. If the menu says "per due," what it really means is "for two - if you haven't eaten since last Tuesday." And...

Oh What a Delectable Meal!

by carriebag , Dec 03 '00
Pros: Friendly waitstaff, great food, gigantic portions, very inexpensive
Cons: long wait, inability to make reservations from parties of less that 6
Vinny Testas, located opposite the Prudential Center in the Back Bay (and also on Beacon Street in Brookline) is a fabulous dining experience for all. I first went to Vinny Testas in December of 1999 on a first date with my boyfriend. Subsequently, I...

Large portions, good times, and bingo

by 32_Footsteps Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 27 '00
Pros: Very large portions, pleasant ambiance, good wait staff
Cons: Dessert is not at the level of the rest of the food
When in Boston, there are a few eating establishments that are required to visit when you are in town. One of the few that I did hear about when I first came to the city for college was Vinny Testa's. After many months of poverty, I did finally manage...

Name has changed and that's not all...

by FstRunr , May 22 '04
Pros: Comfortable restaurant with attractive decor and plenty of ambiance.
Cons: Food portions reduced and meals occasionally need to be re-warmed.
The name is not the only thing that's changed at Vinny Testa's. Recently renamed Vinny T's, the Boston-area restaurant chain with branches in Brookline, Dedham, Natick, among others, lost some of its luster along with a few letters off their name. ...

..GREAT ITALIAN AND A BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

by linz9900 , Nov 22 '01
Pros: HUGE PORTIONS, GREAT PRICES, DELICIOUS FOOD
Cons: I have no complaints!
Well, I'm a college student in Boston, and to be honest, every now and then we like to escape the confines of our dining halls! Last year, a friend of mine asked me if I had ever been to Vinny Testa's..when I replied "Nope..what's that?" she almost fell...
