Spend a Little More for Your Digital

by kimzstuffz , Jan 11 '03
Pros: Easy to take photo's with. Good quality photo's for the price.
Cons: Turns off when it should'nt. Kills batteries.Etc.

I had been wanting to purchase a digital camera for a while. Back in July I ran into a little extra money and decided to go check some out at Walmart. The prices on Cameras ranged from as low as $59.00 to $300 . I decided to go with a mid range one...

A great starter digital camera

by gbmorrision , Apr 29 '03
Pros: Price; has a much better lens than disposable cameras or cheap 35mm cameras.
Cons: Very Stripped, no lens cap or filter, and the LCD is useless in sunlight.
Vivitar was well known in the 1960s and 1970s as an after-market lens and electronic flash purveyor for 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras. However, they did make a few SLRs of their own that could also use screw-mount Pentax lenses.... Nowadays, they...

A crummy little digital camera

by larenzo , Jul 28 '05
Pros: err.. it's small and light.. errr.
Cons: bad pictures, eats batteries, hangs after PC connect..
Here's a good example of a product you should buy more carefully. 2.1 megapixels and $130 sounds great. (Of course, add to that the memory card, batteries, and charger, and you're in a cost region where you could have bought a GOOD digital camera in the ...

Pros: Easy to use, good pictures, quality feel.
Cons: Uses batteries fast, a little slow.
I got this camera about a year and a half ago at an auction for only 45$. This was my first digital camera purchase and I didn’t know a whole lot about them. It had no instruction manual, and no USB cable. (what do you want for 45 bucks) But ...

Pros: Great camera for the price!
Cons: Location of LCD screen; batteries sometimes jar loose and reset time/date.
I've been dying for a digital camera for years, and an online friend picked up a little $50 Vivitar at Wal-Mart that took AWESOME pics. I researched it online, and while doing so the Vivitar 3615 caught my eye; my husband and I decided that we should...

The Vivitar 3615 it's a nice little camera, the first time I held this camera felt really nice in my hands, very well built, feels durable and lightweight. I love the ease of use and the fact that I can use my PocketPC's 256 Megabyte Viking Compact Flash...

Pros: Great camera for the advanced user as well as the beginner.
Cons: Will eat batteries in less than a day if you are not careful.

OK camera

by krakath , Nov 23 '02
Pros: Fairly Compact, easy to use, expandable, decent pictures
Cons: Horrible battery life, turns off randomly and must re-input date/time
Its basically an alright camera, but the battery life shocks me most. I got it at 1 pm, and now its 5 and I can hardly use it (less than 30 exposures for me).

The pictures are very good at 800x600 resolutions, but 1600x1200 gives pictures with...

Pros: Inexpensive, compact flash compatible
Cons: EATS Batteries!!! Horrible low light focus

An OK Camera
by amandalane ,May 03 '05
Pros: CHEAP!! OK 4x6 pictures when they're not blurry.
Cons: Batteries. Blurry pics.
I bought this camera for taking eBay pictures and found that they really aren't that great. Then again it could be my lack of knowledge in picture taking. More recently I took a bunch of pictures of my daughters 4th birthday and most of them are really blurry. This has prompted me to buy a new camera. I'm currently researching other cameras.

The pictures take forever to take, which makes it difficult to capture once in a lifetime moments (such as my daughter blowing out her candles). The pictures are easy to put on the computer. However, I do have a problem with this one picture that is literally stuck in my camera. It's half a picture of my kitchen wall. It doesn't register on the picture counter, but shows up every time I go to put the pictures on my computer. It's very strange! And it's eats up batteries like everyone else has said. I also have the problem with it just turning off at it's own free will. Very frustrating!

ViviCam 3615 Decent Camera
by taggedz ,Nov 02 '04
Pros: Good, durable, general purpose camera.
Cons: Not good for fast paced events.
I bought this product because it was a cheep camera for family snapshots, and general picture taking.

I like:
- the overall durability of the camera, I have used it for more than 3,000 photos since I bought it a little less than one year ago. (256 MB card add on installed)
- Good battery life.
- Generally very good photos

I really do not like:
- the fact that it takes a long time between pictures (3-5 seconds)... trust me that is a lot if you are working with any sporting events or games.
- you can never really tell if it actually took the picture without stopping to check the counter display (or enabling the LCD which dramatically reduces battery life).
- It also has some trouble with low lighting conditions (normal indoor room lighting) without the flash it seems to pick up the color green very well in low light... (can be digitally edited after shooting... but anoying). If you have the flash on it does very good indoors.

Great Camera, Better than more expensive Vivitars
by tabbikat ,Jan 12 '04
Pros: Great pictures for the money, Easy to use!
Cons: Can use up batteries quickly.
I owned a Vivitar Vivicam 3615 for a year and a half before it was stolen. I have taken gorgeous photos of my daughter and found that a card reader as well as rechargeable batteries was a great solution to battery consumption. I now own a "newer", "better" vivitar and would give anything to have my old camera back. The vivitar 3615 took pictures quickly, clearly, and could be used with or without the flash. I have dozens of spur of the moment, quick shots, I have no idea what the camera settings were, absolutely fantastic photos from this camera. I think I will have to buy another one. One warning on any Vivitar product...Don't hold your breath waiting for customer service -- Once you buy it you are pretty much on your own.

Well, it's not the best.. that's for sure.
by happydollie ,May 04 '04
Pros: Somewhat small, easy to use.
Cons: Eats batteries!!! Not good quality enlargements.
I work with this certain camera at work. It's known as our "Store Camera". It was purchased for the store and we all use it. It takes photos. Whether they're good or not is up to the individual. If you are just going to put them on a computer and maybe send them through email it's a good camera. If you want good, somewhat decent 4x6 pictures I guess it would be alright. Anything above that I would most certainly suggest something else. It's photos can be blown up to 8x10 size, but they're horrible.

Batteries. This camera seems to just live and survive eating up batteries. Every time I seem to get it out to use I turn it on and seconds later it's off and the batteries are dead. I've used other digital cameras before that have never gone through batteries as fast as this one!

Customer Service
by punkalunk ,Nov 29 '03
Pros: Great pictures and easy to use. The manual was very thorough.
Cons: Lacks support for this or any Vivitar product. A company should stand by it's product.
I needed out of warranty service o my camera. I called Vivitar in California (I'm in NY) and it took 3 weeks of calling and faxing to get a live person on the phone, only for them to give me another phone number to call! This camera was a gift and it did take very good pictures and was easy to use, but because the customer service was extremely unsatisfactory, I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Vivitar product!

Great Digital Camera
by hurtay88 ,Jul 01 '04
Pros: Great price, great pictures, wonderful camera
Cons: very little battery life and no ac adapter.
This is the first digital that I have purchased. For the price it is great. From the time I opened the box and played around with it a little while, I had everything figured out within 10 min. Pictures come out very clear. I just think it is a wonderful camera. The only bad things I have been able to find out about is the battery life and no ac adapter included. Other than this camera has did me wonders. I took it it in to a pitch black room and took a picture of my son and it came out as if the lights were on. Just to sum it all up, if you are looking for simple digital camera with good picture quality this is the one for you.

by betrluknxttime?_dt3000 ,Nov 24 '02
I was quite disapointed with the Vivatar 3615. Best to purchase batteries by the case or buy rechargable.(It does not come with an AC adapter but does have a port for one.) Even under optimum lighting conditions focus was of poor quality 99% of the time. Flash washed out significant portions of photos. Time, date etc.. had to be reset numerous times after turning the camera off and on. In fairness to the camera I will say that I had previously used another manufacturers digital camera which cost in excess of $400 with much the same results. A very entry level camera which should only be used if you will not regret finding the images unusable once they are loaded on the PC.

I paid $170 at walmart...
by francis_dt3000 ,Apr 21 '02
I paid $170 at walmart for this camera the day before I went to England on a vacation, and the day after my beautiful, but old, Nikon 900 stopped working. For the money, for a last minute purchase in a small town, the Vivitar did it's job. This vivitar is a 2 megapixal and my old N ikon was a 1 megapixal. Even so, the old Nikon took far better pictures. The Vivitar often had pictures washed out by any flash use or blurrey for no good reason. If the lighting condition outside was perfect, the pictures are pretty good. The vivitar had two glitches: 1) It often (not always) asked me for date information whever I turned it on, instead of just when I changed batteries. 2) Sometimes when I changed batteries, I had to open/close the battery door several times before it registered it had batteries. But my recharagble double A's seem to go a long way, even with the LCD and flash on. And for price, size, and ease of purchase in my remote town, I have a good set of vacation pictures.

by lazerus45_dt3000 ,Dec 18 '02
I found the best way to use this camera was to keep it in the drawer. The picture quality was very poor (Blurry. I tested the camera in all three flash modes, and all three focus modes. The best results I obtained was by reducing the EV by -2 and setting the flash to max, focus to manual, and stepping back. This purchase was a $100 dollar lesson.

For just a basic,inexpensive point...
by amy88_dt3000 ,Nov 23 '02
For just a basic, inexpensive point & shoot, it's pretty good. However, you must press once to focus and then press again to take pic. If it's a low light situation, then the focus will be blurry, and sometimes won't even work. It's best used in bright light conditions (i.e. outside,sunny,etc.). If you must use the flash (or should I call it "the super nova") then step back from your subject at least 5 ft. otherwise it washes everything out. Uses 4 AA batteries which it uses up pretty quick. The vivitar 3635 is much better.

I've had this camera for about 5 months now and It's perfect for any-time use. I have accidentally dropped it 2 times, and still works normal. It does have zoom; it's digital. I am buying a dig cam for a friend, and I'm buying the same one. Other brands don't offer a video port. Overall, I like it!

by fleahead_dt3000 ,Dec 20 '02
As you can see in most other reviews, picture quality is the main disappointment. I have an antique Kodak DC40, and although the resolution is poorer than the 3615, the overall picture quality isn't that much worse. The flash seems to wash out the picture, and as others have said, it sucks up battery current like soda pop. I'll probably return the camera to Sam's, but if was my first one, I'd probably keep it, considering the price.

by frank_dt3001 ,Jan 06 '03
This was the second digital camera I have purchased. It performed better then the previous camera I had purchsed from QVC. I purchased this camera while in Georgia on vacation. The main thing that aggravates me about this camer is that indoor pictures are blurry and not very clear at times. Outside picture quality is excellent.
