  • Not For Everyone

    Feb 15, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Fast, solid ski.
Cons: Stiffer than earlier model, not for everyone.

Summary: This years P40 is an entirely different deal than any of the previous skis in the series. This ski was built more for the racer and not quite so much for the recreational skier. This ski is stiff, there is no way around it. Unless you know how to ... read more

    * Great value!
Cons: * Narrow, stiff, too cambered for powder
    * Prefer if a bit lighter (for tele turns)

Summary: I'm about 12 years late, but writing this up in case you happen upon a nice used pair like I did. If you do, get them. It'll be the best $75-$100 you've ever spent on ski equipment. These are fast, stable carving utensils with just enough shape and style ... read more

  • A Great RACING Ski!!!

    Nov 1, 2000 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: fast, powerful ski that holds its own
Cons: not an all mountain ski

Summary: I'm a racer and I skiied on the P40 last season. NOTE: I'm a racer. These ARE NOT the best all mountain ski as much as some people like to make them out to be. The P30 was suitable as an all mountain ski...It was a bit softer with more sidecut. The ... read more

  • Not for Bumps or Jumps

    Oct 2, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: FAST, not too heavy, Hold VERY fast turns
Cons: tips break easy, but very fixable

Summary: This is by far the best pair of skis I have ever skied or raced. In my opinion, I would take these any day over the BetaRaces. These are definately what a GS ski should be, but they do not make the tight turns needed for Slalom, there not made for them, ... read more

  • Nirvana in a ski

    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: Everything!
    Cons: None.

Summary: I have always believed that the skier makes the difference. The P40 F1 proved me wrong. This is the finest ski that I have ever skied. It even seems to have improved my skiing. I'd recommend the F1 to any aggressive skier. It is a race-quality ski ... read more

  • Good ski, not at all durable

    Feb 15, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Good technical ski
    Cons: Bad craftsmanship

Summary: I have tried the Volkl P40 F1 Race Carver on a few occasions, because most of the ski team I am on race on them. It is a technically good ski, however I have noticed that they are built horribly. They have horrible craftmanship, and they need to rethink ... read more

    Feb 14, 2000 by

    Pros: fast nice turns
    Cons: I broke mine

Summary: The p40s were the best pare of skis I have ever owned. they turn nice and sharp while still holding the snow like a true performance ski should. the unfortunite circumstances surounding the destructions of my p40s is truely a travesty, because they are ... read more

Pros: Lightweight, Responsive on Extreme trails, durable
Cons: The tip makes alot of noise at high rates of speed in not-so-perfect conditions

Summary: If you all remember I killed my wrist a few weeks back and couldn't ski for a while. Well, I am back. I recently tried a pair of the P40's on powder. Yes, Winterplace does get some very once in a while. Well, they did this weekend. Something like 12 ... read more

Pros: Awesome for carving, everything..just name it!
    Cons: Heavy Ski

Summary: This is my third set of Volkls, and like the other pairs I have had, they have surprised me once again. These skis really show you what true skiing is. They are very helpful in carving, yet the ease in taking them off jumps and moguls is very gratious ... read more

  • The best ski on the planet

    Jan 10, 2000 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: Quick
    Cons: not for every one

Summary: Through the years I have ski raced. And I have gotten to know my skis. And the best ski that I have been on has been the P40 race carver the speed of the ski and the contol make it uncomprimise able. The quickness and the speed make it a more than ... read more

    Jan 10, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Fast, great carving, easy to ski
Cons: bend in the bumps, not for the faint hearted

Summary: The P40 F1 is the 3rd set of Volkl skis I have owned. The first two were the 1997 and 1998 P30 Race Carvers which were forerunners to the current P40 F1 in the Race Carver series. I had never skied on parabolic/shape skis before the first ... read more

Summary: Well, I got on the P40 F1 today (who makes up these names anyway?) I had a vision (stay with me here this goes somewhere). I typically ski skis that ski the way I do. The F1 does not. It skis much better than I do... but, ... read more
