i recall as a child being in the mall with my sister and smelling White Shoulders. We had not seen my grammy E. for a long time(years) and yet we knew that scent. We looked and looked all over the store but to no avail. Every time we smelled White...

Pros: Smells wonderful, doesn't overpower, tireless, keeps me coming back for more Cons: Doesn't hurt the nose of those you may wish to offend.
Waddya know? ...Not only is this a non-tool review, it's of a perfume of all things! So from a guy's perspective, here it goes... I'm a very fortunate guy in that my wife is quite pretty... always has been. As pretty as she was when I first met ...

No more white shoulders
by liveoaktrails ,May 01 '07
Pros: Very effective Cons: Very effective
White Shoulders was a fragrance I became acquainted with when my wife and I were first dating. When a new scent is associated with a new person, that association will be impossible to break, no matter how many years go by. There lies the danger.
Now that my wife is gone, that once pleasing aroma is now a reminder of lost love, and now only serves to evoke memories of wonderful times that are now irretrievably lost.
White Shoulders now reminds me of exactly how happy and how sad I can be.

lovely, light, warm
by ellendeller ,May 14 '07
Pros: Classic, warm and light. Cons: It's not heavy, if you prefer that.
I have been wearing White Shoulders for almost thirty years (I'm 50). I've tried others (and I do like Happy, L'Air du Temps, and Beautiful), but my husband LOVES White Shoulders and asks me to wear it. This from a man who doesn't normally notice such things. It's so warm and light and doesn't offend people who don't care for strong perfumes. It's true that you need to be fairly close to the wearer to smell it, but then I'm wearing it for friends and family, not for someone perfect stranger who might be allergic! There's nothing oily or musky about it; it's more like stepping under a canopy of flowering blossoms in spring.

Can be very nice, very irresistible
by tessy2 ,Sep 21 '05
Pros: Soft, floral, classy, intimate Cons: Need to stand fairly close in order to smell it
A wonderful fragrance if you have the right chemistry to bring out the subtleties -- all of the gentle floral elements and a certain "powdery" quality.
My great aunt and my best friend from high school definitely could bring out the best in this perfume. White Shoulders does not smell particularly memorable on me, I'm sorry to say. Therefore, I do not own a bottle, even though it is one of my husband's favorite perfumes.
I rate it excellent for how it smells on many other people.

Keeps me coming back for more!
by jjclosuit ,Mar 21 '07
Pros: Light, not over powering, economical price, widely available Cons: Not very long lasting
This is a really nice fragrance. It has a nice light smell and it isn't overpowering--even if you use too much. I get lots of complements when I wear it. There's a jasmine-like smell to it, which is one of my favorite scents. Definitely a flowery fragrance, but not too flowery.
It is a pretty economical fragrance and it seems to be widely distributed. So you don't have to go to a department store to find it...I even saw it at Fred Meyers!
It doesn't seem to last the day very well, though. You can smell it if you put your nose up to the area that you used it on, but you can't smell it from any distance.
