Pros: No refilling a paint roller, quiet, easy setup, long hose Cons: Clean-up isn't fun, splatters/drips, can't remove splatter shield, expensive
In preparing my moms house for sale, one of the most obvious (and biggest) tasks involved painting. We decided to paint everything throughout the house, a fairly large endeavor. Naturally, we were willing to try anything to make this enormous task ...
Pros: Puts paint down like no other! 3-5x speed increase over manual rolling, better then spray. Cons: Quality results require manual feathering, 'razor blade' business model, cleanup is somewhat messy and wasteful.
We just finished remodeling our entire kitchen/living room/family room and there was a LOT of fresh drywall to paint. I started in with a standard roller and quickly realized two things: 1) It was going to take a long time 2) I remembered that I hate ...
Pros: Fast, easy set up. Cut in tools rocked. Cons: Roller control was tricky. Needs longer hose. Platform for can should be more stable.
I admit I was a bit skeptical about whether this product would produce good results. I am happy to say it did. I used to paint apartments for a living, so I am used to commercial sprayers and equipment. Since I no longer paint for a living, I'm ...
Pros: Didn't note any. Cons: Messy, hose was easily tangled up (too stiff). Difficult to clean up. Quit pumping.
I have been painting off and on for the better part of 40 years and decided that a power painter might save me time and effort. Sadly, my experience with the Wagner Power Rolleer QuickTouch Pro 990 was not good. I purchased the new machine from the local ...
Pros: WOW!! I could not recommend this power roller more! Cons: No replacement parts/tubing sold ANYWHERE for these power rollers
I bought a Wagner Power Roller QuickTouch Model 980 on sale at our local home improvement mega-store. My teenage son convinced me to give it a try. At around $60, I was very skeptical. It didn't seem like it would be an easily returnable item if it ...
Pros: Speed, timesaving, money saving, ease of use Cons: Leaks a little even when switched off
Upon purchasing our home in America we were faced with the daunting task of making the house look cared for, loved and well maintained. Whilst our home is no mansion, there is still a lot of work to do and painting is the largest task of all. We needed ...
Pros: The roller works okay once you get the hang of it. Cons: Edging tools are worthless, messy, hose tangles
I wish I would have researched this product before I purchased. The old adage if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, definitely applies here. I purchased this model thinking that it would save me time and the edge tools were appealing. ...
Great idea. Wagner's typical poor implementation. by bisley ,Oct 30 '06
Pros: Seems well-designed and durable. Good price point. Reasonable clean-up. Cons: Roller leaves lint everywhere - requiring sanding and re-painting with a standard roller.
The product looks promising. Reviews I read seemed positive. The price point is attractive. It's more durable than the Wagner Paint Crew (worst product Wagner ever produced which should be pulled from shelves).
But the one glaring flaw renders it worse than useless: The roller leaves roller lint all over your wall. So after spending $100 for something that should save time, you may end up doing more work than if you hadn't bought one at all. I even went to the trouble of vacuuming the roller before it ever had paint on it. No help.
It's possible that only some of the rollers shipped with this unit have the lint problem. Only one other review I read complained about it.
I have owned a Wagner power spray gun that has worked well for years. Why can't Wagner stick to what works?

Pros: Works well when painting walls. Cons: Tiring when used on ceilings. No extension pole available. Time consuming & wasteful clean-up.
After painting our home for many years the traditional way, I thought this machine would make painting easier. Wrong! It actually made it more tiring & time consuming. The weight of the roller head and the paint feed hose is much heavier than a common roller. Painting a large ceiling while standing on a ladder with this roller was a back breaker for me. Cleanup also takes considerably longer than the 5 minutes claimed on the box.
Otherwise it works pretty well. It can spread a lot of paint fairly quickly when doing walls.
After painting a ceiling & one wall, I've gone back to the old way using a roller with an extension pole. It's less tiring, faster & much easier to clean up.
Pros: None Cons: Clean-up, wasted paint, just another tool to store
Just got done using this product for the first time and found that I spent as much time cleaning everything as I did painting. It claims to have an EZ cleaning system using a garden hose, It is not any easier to clean than standard paint products and as for its "time savings" associated with the actual painting process, it is very minimal.
Overall I am finding that the best system that exists out there is to buy paint products that you can just dispose of after you are done with the project. Nothing that you have to store between paint projects and best of all nothing to clean.
One other thing I should mention. I found that it was frustrating to deal with the paint hose which follows you around and always tries to touch the spot you just painted.
Pros: Saves bending over and refilling the the roller cover and paint try. Cons: Cleanup a little tedious but not all that bad.
My son recently purchased a condo and every room needed repainting. One weekend and we were done, two coats in every room. Hassle free operation, neat and clean.
Paint went on smooth and quick. Clean up took a little time, but what cleanup doesn't?
Pros: Increases productivity, Power rollers covers are reusable and of good quality. Cons: Extra time needed to clean and prepare the system for its next use.
Also used the pro 990 but my model has a removable splash guard. Drips and cleaning can be a problem but using the adjustable flow switch to reduce the flow of paint into the roller assembly. I found the the flow should be intermittent, i.e. turn on the pump, roll on the paint, saturate the roller, turn off the pump and continue painting. Repeat when the roller dries up.
Overall it reduced the need to bend down and recoat the roller and allowed me to finish rooms in less time than conventional roller.
Pros: fast, easy set up, great coverage Cons: slow clean up but still worth the time saved.
We bought a house and had 4 bedrooms and 2 living rooms to paint. I painted one accent wall by hand. I asked my husband to grab one of these and it worked GREAT. The splash guard was a waist but it was removable. We painted one room, 2 coats in one day including drying time. The cleanup was time consuming but in my honest opinion, cleaning the Wagner took me about the same amount of time as cleaning 2 paint brushes, one roller and the tray for the wall I painted by hand. We used the same roller for 3 of the rooms (so far) and plan to use it for more. All of our walls are textured and the roller covers them well.
