Pros: Easy to manage, promotes lifestyle changes Cons: Can be easy to stray, not cheap
I joined Weight Watchers in January of 2006, about one week after buying my wedding dress and realizing that I did not look like I wanted to look on my wedding day. I followed the program strictly for 4 months, losing 30 pounds and I felt great. I was ...

Still the Most Sensible Diet Program Even if it is a Business
by figaro_14 ,Jul 19 '04
Pros: Very easy to follow and very healthy. Cons: It requires 100% commitment. Meetings fees can get to be very expensive.
Yes, Weight Watchers is a BIG money making operation. And I think sometimes when they hold their meetings in churches, schools and community centers we tend to forget that.
I also think that their Points system was driven more by $$$ then by nutrition. I'm a Lifetime member and lost my weight on the old, old, old Jean Neidich version. Under the various incarnations of Weight Watchers, they always required you to eat so many fruits, veggies, proteins and fats and breads a day. They also severely restricted high cholesterol foods. Under this new system requirements become recommendations and people are free to eat anything they want. It's far simpler to follow, but I don't think it forces the excellent nutritional pattern that the old plan did. I still like the idea of being required to have so many fruits, veggies, fats, proteins, and breads per day and I felt I got more to eat on the older plans. Now you can eat "anything" but you might use up your entire day's worth of points on a Big Mac!

Am I on a diet?
by yoderl ,Oct 24 '04
Pros: Can survive on a long term basis with this eating style Cons: Cost, but worth it
FlexPoints is the greatest diet that has ever come out. I eat anything I want including mexican food at least two times a week. I have lost 65 pounds, going from a size 22 to a size 10. My spouse has lost 70 pounds. While it has taken approximately a year to loose this weight, I at least can live with it without getting bored. I truely do not feel like I am on a diet. I have made life long change. It is primarily portion control and making choices. I have only given up a few foods to eat the food I really love. I even eat sweets on a daily basis. It is the healthiest diet I have ever seen.

Helped Me Lose 25 Lbs.!
by rh697gec ,Mar 07 '07
Pros: Eat what you want, able to earn extra points, easy to learn program Cons: You won't see results right away, hard to eat out sometimes, need to have determination!
I was on the Weight Watchers program for several months. I never went to a meeting but I did obtain a points book from a friend that was on the same diet. I also found some recipes, point lists, and a few other helpful things that helped me online. Eventually I figured out how to find out the points value of anything that I ate. There's a set formula that I swear by. I lost 25 lbs. and have never felt better about myself. The good part is, you can eat anything that you want. The flex points helped out much!

SKIP THE MEETINGS?? NO WAY!!!!
by lindawing ,Jun 05 '07
Pros: It will work if you follow the recommendations and take the time to follow it. Cons: It is not a quick fix, rapid weight loss plan.
Folks, I know she meant well, but take it from me. If we could do this on our own wouldn't we all be thin by now?? If you sign up for a continual membership, which now includes ALL the online information, recipes, support it is only $10.00. THESE meetings are what keeps me inspired, informed and in focus each week (you can go to as many as you wish)and is my salvation! Sometimes you have to go to several meetings to find the one that fits you, but I find it is TOTALLY worth the 30-40 minutes each week to share and get inspired by others! They are not kidding when they say "STAY AND SUCCEED"! Members are more successful if they stay for the meetings. I highly recommend this plan and have every confidence in this organization. You won't be sorry! Go to the WW family forum website and ask these people that have lost over 100lbs if it's worth it. The pictures and stories speak for themselves! Oh, by the way, yes I've lost 82 lbs!
