Pros: No spangly glitter suits in evidence Cons: No cheesy production numbers with Marie to break up the monotony
The Purple One has returned again with a brand new album. Oh wait I'm sorry. Not his Royal Badness, no no sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant, the Purple-socked One. Yep, the all-glitter, all teeth, "a little bit rock and ...

Donny Doesn't Need Rock 'N' Roll
by muckluck30 ,Jan 20 '05
Pros: Straight from the heart and soul of Donny. Cons: Took him long enough to release this.
After 54 studio releases, youd hope that an artist like Donny Osmond could still produce some magic. Well, Im here to let you know he has. What I Meant to Say is a heartfelt collection of soothing ballads and jazzy pop songs. The song Breeze on By is an instant classic for any fan of adult contemporary music; and as always, Donny maintains his squeaky clean image. So share it with your family, share it with your significant other, and just enjoy it, because you cant help but love it.

Wonderful!!
by moriaw ,Jun 10 '05
Pros: Nice clean adult style music Cons: I can't stand the song "right here waiting for you" no matter who sings it.
I bought this CD after seeing Donny in person on tour in Spring 2005. I went to see him perform for old times sake, never expecting that he would win me over again.
He is most definitely a talented performer and his new material is very smooth jazz. He is currently on the charts in the USA with "Breeze on By".
I like the adult, almost lusty, sound of "In it for love" "Shoulda' known better" and "Breeze on by" and even my VH1 loving teen is smitten with Donny.
Music fans, esp. smooth jazz fans, try it, you'll like it.
Donny fans, get your autographed copy on Donny's web site for a CD you can treasure forever.

Wow! Great CD!
by jkoyanagi ,Jan 28 '05
Pros: A must have for those wanting to hear a singer rather than today's sounds. Cons: There are no cons! It's wholesome and the entire family can listen to this one!
I'm amazed at how easy it is for people to be so critical of Donny Osmond. Just his name seems to nake people cringe. Is it because they can't get past his "squeaky clean" image? Or is it because he was such a "hottie" in the 1970s and still is today? Jealousy?
At least it's soothing, enjoyable music....not a bunch of "f" words or about sex. Okay, okay, my age is showing. Either way, I'll take musicians like Donny Osmond, Jim Brickman, the Bee Gees and Barry Manilow, to name just a few, over most of today's artists.
So Donny, What I Meant to Say, is just right. Yes, there are a couple of tracks that could be better. But basically, the whole CD is a five star project!
