Pros: Well-rounded, worthwhile upgrade vs. Kemore 1603 for just a small price premium. Cons: Silverware rack design a possible negative for some users, $90 price difference
Doubtless like many who are reading this review, I was trying to find a dishwasher to replace an older builders-grade model that was not really doing the job. After checking Consumer Reports, I was very interested in the Kenmore 1603/1703 series at ...
Pros: Does a good job, lots of features, fairly quiet. Cons: Often items need to be rewashed.
We purchased this after the Maytag in the house we newly moved into was recalled. Prior to that, I'd lived with a cheapo 20+ year old dishwasher I'd only run when I left for work,as to not listen to two hours of grinding. With the Maytag I didn't have to ...
Pros: Pour Scour, Quiet running, space-saving utensil basket, flexible arrangements for varying dish sizes, CLEANS dishes Cons: It could be less expensive... but is definitely worth it.
I am a survivor! Having endured about 5 years of a Limited Edition Kenmore dishwasher, I am proud to say I have a new Whirlpool! (Cue lights and choir voices!) I should write a review regarding my poor experience with Lowes, the place of purchase, but ...
Pros: Interior space configuration, pot scrubber, delay wash option, quiet operation, color options Cons: awkward silverware basket
After retiring an increasingly noisy and tired Kenmore Elite (top of the line in its day)it was time for a replacement. With Consumer Reports in hand, it looked like we might be buying another Kenmore...but wait!!! Sears was having a sale on Whirlpool ...
Pros: GREAT design MANY features for the $. Built in grinder-disposal = NO pre rinse! Quiet! Cons: Some small plastic parts inside and on racks seem fragile. May not last.
All nylon rack materials will never peel and rust. One piece "unibody" tub system was very lightweight and easy to move into place. Silverware basket can be attached to door for more pot & pan space, or attached to lower rack as a standard system. ...
Pros: Excellent washing, super quiet Cons: Low to the ground door, gotta bend; utensil holder opens a lot
After my former Kenmore dishwasher of about 12 years passed away, and having 8 people in my family, I could not wait to rid my swampy, mold-infested science experiment with a new model. Even though I wasn't as put out washing dishes by hand as I was when ...
Pros: Quiet. Cleans pots and pans without soaking and wasting water. Cons: None.
Like glenn01, I was also replacing a builders grade dishwasher, although mine was only a few months old. The builders grade GE was very noisy and left food particles on top of the cups after a supposed cleaning cycle. I've been buying Kenmore ...
Pros: Quiet, sani-rinse, movable top drawer, etc. Cons: Occasionally have to rewash top rack items
I picked this dishwasher out when we had our house built and paid to upgrade from the standard pitiful dishwasher usually thrown into a house by the builder. We have had it a year and a half now and it works great - no real complaints. I like that the ...
Pros: Great while it worked Cons: Dead after less than 3 years
If you are interested in this dishwasher, please purchase the extended warranty just in case. My dishwasher is dead in less than 3 years! I thought I was purchasing a reliable product, I read Consumer Reports, I purchased a big brand, but I was wrong! ...
This dishwasher replaced one of those loud, ineffective "came-with-the-house" cheapies. So knowing that ANYTHING could have been better, I struck out looking for the PERFECT dishwasher. This Whirlpool seemed to fit the bill: it is so quiet that even ...
On the plus side, it looks pretty good. There are several things that we do not like, the most important one being that frequently dishes and flatware are not cleaned. Another negative is that the Cascade powdered detergent clumps up in the main dispenser, leaving a white cake of powder, roughly 1 tablespoon. We have changed to a liquid detergent and may try the Electrosol that is recommended.
Other negatives are the adjustable top rack where the mechanism takes up space that could be used to hold glasses. The flatware rack is smaller than the one in our previous dishwasher (Maytag). The upper rack is poorly designed and seems just a little flimsy when sliding in and out. Finally, and least important, the machine stops and starts. The owner's manual indicated that this would happen, though I have no idea why. As for it being quiet... no moreso than others I would guess.
All-in-all, I wish we had spent the $200 to have our old dishwasher repaired, rather than spending $600 (including installation) for this one.
Well engineered, attention paid to detail. by conic ,Oct 31 '08
Pros: Quiet. Power Scour. High value. Cons: none
Intelligent design, for example: The waste hose is designed in a recess, so that the washer doesn't have to sit proud of the counter top. Power Scour works as advertised. No need to pre-wash. It does seem to go thru the spot removal or clean rinse a little too quick. Not crazy fast, but it seems to use it quicker than other washers I've owned. Very happy with this purchase, would pick the same make and model if I had to do it over again.
Pros: Power scour, adaptive wash Cons: upper basket doesn't roll as smoothly as we would like.
We recently purchased this dishwasher from Lowe's and are really impressed. Originally we had a Bosch, the only nice thing I can say is that it was quiet. The dishes were always wet and sometimes not clean. Bosch dishwashers are designed without drying elements. The Whirlpool does an excellent job of cleaning dishes. It has a special feature the "power scour" for pots, pans, casserole, etc. I normally wash off all dishes and pots before putting them in the dishwasher and will soak casserole dishes before putting them in, so I was skeptical about the power scour really working. I put it to the test with a casserole dish. It went straight from the table to the dishwasher and came out PERFECT! Another great thing is the utensil basket it hooks to the door or outside the lower basket giving you so much more space on the bottom. We are fans!
GU2700XTSQ dishwasher failed by parker59 ,Jul 21 '09
Pros: Quiet operation, cleans well, offers a lot of good cleaning options. Cons: Silverware basket latch broke, whole thing died just outside of warranty.
Worked well for 13 months and then it stopped mid cycle and the display went completely blank. It appears that something in the electronics died. Contacted Whirlpools service department via email and am waiting for a reply. A $600 dishwasher should not fail after 13 months. I have always liked Whirlpool products but this one has been a big disappointment. If Whirlpool stands behind the product then I will remain a customer otherwise I will search for a better product.
Disappointing at cleaning, needs extended warranty. by ktamb ,Oct 28 '09
Pros: Quiet until the motor dies. High capacity, adjustable upper rack allows for cleaning large items. Cons: Doesn't clean tough food particles as promised. Broke down after only 2 years.
We had ours for 2 years and the motor decided to die on us. Supposedly because we used too much detergent. (Where is that in the manual?) We initially liked it because it came in black and had a high capacity with lots of cleaning options. I found the Power Scour ineffective at cleaning stuck on food. I basically had to clean everything twice anyway, which was NOT what the advertisement said I would be doing. The utensil rack has a central tab that allows for opening and closing the rack, but the tab has a tendency to come off. We had to order a new rack after about a year. The new one comes off too, but I figured out how to replace it without damaging it.
