I'll be brief.  I've always owned standard dryers that today would cost about $300.00.  My wife wanted to 'upgrade' so we got rid of our perfectly good washer/dryer of 15 years and bought a Whirlpool Duet washer/dryer at a cost of about ...

Pros: dries quickly, multiple settings, ease of use, high capacity
Cons: requires special installation to fit in closet as-advertised

This is a large-capacity dryer that fits in a regular sized closet. It dries clothes quickly and has a lot of delicate and damp dry options. We've had it for a year and it works perfectly, just a couple things to keep in mind if you plan to keep it in an apartment closet:

1) make sure you have a damper for the vent. it became damp and the electronic controls stopped working whenever our neighbor did their laundry. since a damper's been installed, we've had no problems.

2) make sure you can get a side vent installed if it's going in a closet. Best Buy told us they could do it, and they couldn't, so we had to wait for them to find an independent contractor.

all in all, with those installation problems fixed, it's a great dryer.

I love this dryer!! It dries nicely, especially because the washer spins the cloths drier. My old dryer would have to be run sometimes a couple of times before cloths would be dry. Not this one. Also, I did not smell any burning order the first time I used my dryer and I have an electric dryer. It is very attractive too.
