Pros: Great value, less than $400. durable enough for a large family (7) Performance, and efficiency. Cons: no real dislikes.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MODEL FOR US We bought this model of dishwasher, to replace our old one which was leaking and was a different brand. We have 5 small kids and needed something quick. Also being on a tight budget, I checked the ...
Pros: Disposal is nice. Cons: Don't get us started on that blasted silverware tray.
We rather assumed that a more expensive Whirlpool Dishwasher would be better than the cheap builder-model that we already had and kind of liked (until we moved.) Not so.Overall, it's a pretty typical dishwasher. It includes a food ...
Pros: Dish cleaning capability, self cleaning, helpful gauges. Cons: Odd silverware basket placement, is quiet but not super-quiet.
This dishwasher simply works great - everything comes out extremely clean. You don't have to worry about 'pre-washing' the stuff off the dishes because it has what is effectively a built-in garbage disposal that prevents stuff from clogging up the ...
Pros: Bottom rack has tines that will fold down Delayed start feature. Spacious Cons: Too loud, better choices available in the same price range, poor cleaning
I rarely write reviews but I was unhappy enough with this purchase that I had to tell others about it.I purchased this dishwasher about a year ago and was so happy to get rid of the basic GE we had that came with the home. But I am not happy at ...
Pros: Hmmmm.... it's not going to be in my kitchen any longer. Cons: UGH! Take it away from me. I don't want anything Whirlpool now.
My new-to-me home came with Whirlpool Gold appliances including a dishwasher (don't even get me started on my range!) The washing quality is sometimes good and sometimes not, but the one thing that I absolutely hate that is driving ...
Pros: Price; no "sensor" (that's a good thing); water heater; food grinder; appearance. Cons: Low capacity flatware box mounted on the door; electronic controls.
Researched dishwashers for a long time. Hard to find good one based on reviews. Had to settle for one in my price range. This white Whirlpool DU1055XTSQ floated to the top.
Many critical reviews of any comparable dishwasher point out a discernible deterioration in quality or perceived sturdiness. I have to agree. I dislike the move to frequently unreliable electronic controls, which tend to cost more without giving any real value. This model has electronic controls, but it has other features that I couldn't find on models with a mechanical timer. I am expecting a controls failure any day, but I have experienced none yet.
Getting to the point, I've had it for over a month and have used it frequently. I am fairly satisfied, given what I paid for it at Lowe's. Put in very soiled dishes and they come out clean.
I don't like the flatware rack on the door, but I can live with it. It doesn't dry as well as I might like, either, but it does OK. Make sure you use a rinse-aid.
Pros: Price, food grinder (found in all Whirlpools), space design on the inside, efficient. Cons: Haven't found any yet.
The dishwasher turned out to be exactly as I wanted. I did a lot of research and found that it is Energy Star, had the option to turn off heating (to save energy), and had a food grinder so I didn't have to pre-rinse (otherwise, I might as well do the dishes by hand). I also wanted Stainless Steel but by the time I saw the finish, I realized that I need to wait until I actually remodel to make sure everything matches. I couldn't beat the price for the name, the reviews and what I wanted. There was some discrepency online about whether the 1055 had the food thingy so I didn't have to pre-rinse but I think that was a store thing and not a product thing. It's about the same noise level as my old one but the dishes come out great, even my plastic pitcher that would stay stained in the old dishwasher comes out without any stains. I love it!! I don't use heated drying so I can't comment on the burner coils, but if it's under warranty, I don't see a problem :)
Very displeased with this dishwasher by cruciblesteel ,Dec 01 '08
Pros: Looks nice. Cons: Unit doesn't clean well. The silverware rack is small and poorly located on door.
Bought this unit after doing internet research (best as I could believe) from Lowes. Paid ~380 for it. It was a replacement for a sears that we had for many years and was worn out.
Installed this unit and from day one it doesn't do a good job of cleaning. After cycles we find food on dishes occassionally and the dishes, silverware, and glasses come out with a white haze that can be wiped off. We use fresh Cascade powder and Jet Dry for cleaning and rinse aid. I have gone through and checked the water supply, water temp, and house water softner. No problems found. Wiped down the inside and ran empty cycles to "clean out the unit". Tried varying cycles and dries with different loads, but nothing has worked. Wife has stopped using this junk and is now hand washing.. Amazing.. Can only think that I got a bad unit or something else is wrong that i am not aware of.
Next step is to get a tech out to check it and to fight Lowes in an attempt to get a replacement.
