Pros: Looks, trajectory, feel, accuracy, quality, price -- all equal SUPER value for a premium iron. Cons: Wilson also makes low-end clubs. Face could be rougher. Fades somewhat tough to hit.
I'm 57, and a mid/high handicapper: 5-iron swing speed is 95 mph. I'd played Big Bertha style irons with Dynamic Gold shafts for eight years, I wanted some new technology along with narrower soled irons that hit better off thin lies. Distance wasn't ...
Pros: good distance, soft feel, very forgiving, stable at impact Cons: it takes time to adjust to added distance, pay attention to alignment. they're straight!
If increased distance, a high, straight ball flight and smooth feel are your priorities you'll want to consider these irons. The fluid feel inserts in the shaft and head screen out unwanted vibrations and give these clubs an extremely soft, muted feel ...
Pros: Easy to hit, Great distance, soft feel. Cons: Grips are OK. I had mine regriped with Lambkin Jumbo.
I shopped pretty hard for a new set of irons. I went to the Pro Shop and tried Ping, Titleist, Nike, Callaway, but it all came down to the Wilson Deep Red irons. They have taken 10 strokes off my game (Seriously). I only golf on occasion, sometimes ...
Pros: solid, straight, long, workable, predictable clubs, very clean look Cons: grips are not that good and should be changed
I bought a set of Deep Reds...metal stiff shaft. Improved my game for sure. These clubs have a very solid feel. Distance control was very predictable. The nice clean look
of these clubs made me feel very very confident. It only took a short while to...
Deep Red Irons Graphite shafts: also for young golfers! by maasterluc ,Aug 31 '04
Pros: Great feel, look and swing sound. Fantastic distance and height Cons: Don't swing too enthusiastically, you will definitely be looking for your ball in the woods.
There seems to be an interesting debate going on about whether graphite shafts are suitable for the older golfers only (as graphite absorbs shocks from off-center shots more efficiently). As a 23 year old golfer I can tell you that people of all ages can enjoy the advantages of graphite. Although, the stiffness of the shaft is essential: if you're young, go for the stiff or extra stiff, as those shafts will combine the great feel of graphite and the accuracy of steel. I have been playing the Deep Red Irons for a while and I simply love them: rather forgiving (which is always a welcome characteristic in golf), great feel and look and last but not least: great sound when you have a fast and powerful swing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I love the look of these clubs.
I had a set of the 01 Fatshaft Irons. Until I hit these I thought I would never get rid of the Fatshaft irons I had.The Deep Red Irons are the best set of iron's I've ever hit. I've had 2 friends purchase a set of them after they hit mine. I think these irons are very playable for all handicap ranges. They feel great and look great too.
Good luck on you new purchase of the Deep Red's.
