Pros: Unique functional shape; pretty pink handle grip; easy to use. Cons: won't make pretty round scoops (but who cares?); must be hand washed.
I've been in the process of replacing and updating some of my pathetically old kitchen gadgets that I've had since my husband and I first moved in together some 15 years ago. One of my recent upgrades was my ice cream scoop. It was time to get rid of ...
Pros: The best of a round scoop crossed with the best of a paddle Cons: Should be hand-washed – do not put in the dishwasher
It's rare that I get really excited about a kitchen gadget. Yes, they can be useful. Yes, they can be fun. But, as a rule, they aren't usually 'exciting.' Enter the Wilton Copco Ultimate Ice Cream Scoop. Though it's just an ice cream ...
Pros: great for dishing out pints and quarts, excellent feel and balance Cons: not for making regulation scoops for sundaes and cones

Pros: The best Ice Cream Scoop ever! Ergonomic handle. Cons: Only one in the utensil drawer.
This is the best ice cream scoop I have ever had. It is easy to hold, strong and really works. We used to buy our ice cream in blocks and slice it with a knife because all the scoops we tried didn't work well for us. Seemed like you scoop about a ...
I've tried every scoop and spade ever made, and they all falter for various reasons--but NOT this one. The manufacturer knew what they were saying when they said the "ultimate scoop." It's heavy (a good weight) and strong, and no silly ejection latch to...
Great at scooping, durability problems by ladylucy ,Jan 29 '07
Pros: Great design for scooping hard ice cream Cons: Surface chips. Must be hand-washed.
I loved this scoop when I first got it and showed it off to friends. The design of the scoop itself is great and makes the scooping chore effortless with even hard ice cream. There is one problem... I have purchased many ice cream scoops and my biggest pet peeve is that they all get pit marks and chips on the surface. This scoop is no better. I have been hand-washing it all along, and the surface is starting to chip. I've only used it about 20-30 times. Sorry. It's better than average for its design, but I'm disappointed.
This is an update on 1/3/08:
I now have two of them with problems. Someone gave me one after I bought one. I have hand-washed both and they both got chips, bumps and pit marks on them.
I have an elaborate water-softening system at my house so minerals are not a problem in my water. I don't use abrasive cleaners.
Here's the Scoop: This is the best ice cream scoop ever! by buzzbag ,Jul 01 '06
Pros: This little kitchen tool will force you to throw every other scoop out the kitchen. Cons: Can't be put in the dishwasher---big deal.
When my kids beg me to get them ice cream, I always dread the inevitable wresting match I have with the frozen pint. Not anymore. This perfect kitchen tool slices through the chocolate tundra with shocking ease. Throw out all your other scoops and buy this one. In fact, this little gem is my new house gift when people invite us over for dinner. They laugh awkwardly when I hand it to them and call me three days later after they get around to using it, sheepishly asking me where I got it. Solid, handy, and unbelievably efficient; the perfect kitchen tool and gift.
This scoop Rules!!!!!!!!!! by belleeskie ,Dec 08 '05
Pros: The easiest, no wrist stress scooper out there!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: Hand wash only, but it really isn't a big deal!!!
This is the best scoop I have ever owned, and I have been looking for it to give as stocking stuffers to all my friends and relatives(at Christmas I always do a "Jennifers favorites" just like Oprah) It is better than any expensive scoop from places like William-Sonoma, Pampered Chef, etc. I got it at Joann etc. this summer with a 40% off coupon so it only cost $5, I just wish they still had them!!! The con, hand wash only, really is no big deal, just rinse with a little soap off after using and throw it back in your drawer. I wonder why it is hand wash only, does it have that liquid stuff in it like other hand wash only scoops??? it doesn't sound sloshy like the others??? but I am not going to risk it since I cannot find any right now!!!
Who says you can't pop it in the dishwasher? by cadeaux33 ,Jul 10 '07
Pros: Best one I've tried...and it IS dishwasher safe. Cons: None really that I'd complain about.
I just bought this scoop at Williams-Sonoma today for $7 - and it says on the tag that it's dishwasher safe...in fact I put it in the dishwasher before using it. I know you can't do that with scoops with the "anti-freeze"-type solution in the handle such as my old Dansk one (that never worked to begin with, btw). In fact, on the "details" portion here regarding this scoop it even states that it is dishwasher safe - so I don't know why everyone is saying you can't. Honestly, I'd like to know what is going to happen to it if you do since it's only made of metal and hard rubber. If your dishwasher is pitting it (as someone else here stated) - I'm sure it's also doing a number dulling up your glassware, too...perhaps it's the detergent that you're using, the mineral content in your water, or the dishwasher itself.
Anyway, that said...I think this surpasses any scoop I've used before - the only drawback I see is that it doesn't get the "dregs" of the ice-cream at the bottom of the container - but I would figure that's why regular spoons were invented. ;)
