  • A story about life in the small town of Winesburg, Ohio.

Pros: A great taste of early American Literature.
Cons: Not a filling book, some of stories mirror, and George Willard is annoying.

Summary: Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio is a collection of loosely connected stories about the happenings of a small town and it's inhabitants. Most of the stories, except for the four-part Godliness, are only connected because the character George Willard ... read more

Pros: Still relevant even though it was written over 80 years ago
Cons: It reads a bit slow at times

Summary: I must begin by saying that this is not the exact version of Winesburg, Ohio, that I read. I read the Viking Critical Edition, but it's basically the same thing. Both versions include the full text as well as background and literary criticism of the ... read more

    Pros: life in a book....
Cons: none that I can think of right now

Summary: I read it years ago, but I remember it poorly. Winesburg, Ohio, everywhere and everyman. Fabulomunodo to coin a phrase or perhaps to paraphrase. Sherwood Anderson is just my speed or at least can be. This book is absolutely splendid and boring. It's ... read more

Pros: Insight Taken to New Heights
Cons: add pauses where they belong...there are few commas.

Summary: "Winesburg, Ohio" by Sherwood Anderson, was actually written about Clyde, Ohio, where Anderson lived for years before traveling to Chicago to start a new life. This book, although seriously in need of some commas, accurately ... read more
