Pros: Excellent winter tire. Very good grip under all conditions. Inexpensive yet distinctive. Cons: None
I was in the market for a snow tire, but not impressed with the so-called studless snow tires which seem to wear rapidly and are not as good on ice as studded winter tires. My Firestone dealer wanted to sell the Blizzak tires, but since only the first ...
Pros: Cheap - $370 for 4, balanced and fitted. Great snow performance. Cons: Not brilliant on black ice, but then you really need studs. Typical tyre manufacturer warranty.
I finally caved this year and bought some proper snow tyres. I opted for the Winterforce tyres mostly because my local tyre place had some in in the size I wanted and there was the prospect of 14 days of snowstorms on the way. I've tried Bridgestone ...
Pros: They're cheap. Might be a good snow tire for small, lightweight, compact cars (ie. hatchback). Cons: Unpredictable minivan handling on dry road & rain. Wobbly, squishy, hampered vehicle control 50mph+
I put 4 new unstudded Firestone Winterforce tires on my 1995 Ford Windstar - & my wet AND dry road handling went from excellent to unpredictably treacherous at speeds above 55mph. If you've read other reviews about these tires being "squishy" & "wobbly" ...
Pros: Great price, supper great traction in wet/dry conditions, low comfortable noise level, hardly noticeable. Cons: Winter tires only. Not sure what the tread life will be. I will update soon.
I bought these tires for my 2001 Ford Sport Trac 4x4 Premium. Edition just a few weeks ago. I wanted to feel a little bit safer this winter as I take long trips with the family from NY to NJ every other weekend. The Price was great from TireRack online ...
Running a fresh set on my Jeeo Cherokee XJ Sedan...Excellent traction in ice and snow. Like all winter tires must be used in sets of four...a great investment if you live in any kind of winter ice snow conditions. Less expensive than some other ...
Pros: Dirt Cheap. Heats up quickly. Soft sticky compound. Mucho siping! Cons: So far, I can't see any cons.
I am an aggressive driver. I recently moved from Northern California to Minnesota only to have an officer of the law promptly inform me that my studded tires were not permitted. For a place with arctic winters, I thought that odd. Of course, much about ...
Pros: safety-security-value-handeling-looks-meaty tread depth Cons: NONE what so ever!!!!!!!
I currently own a 93 Ply. Grand Voyager LE (FWD) - 94 Chry. Town & Country (AWD) 96 Ply. Voyager (FWD) and last but not least a 97 Dodge Grand Caravan SE (AWD) and all 4 for my mini vans have THE WINTER FORCE SNOW TIRES!!!!!! I have been useing theese ...
It's the exception to "...get what you pay for" by factrzero ,Dec 06 '06
Pros: Handling *at proper PSi*
Tread Pattern
Snow traction Cons: Wet traction is OK
Bought these tires in November. Wasn't happy with their performance initially - so when I found out they were underinflated and actually inflated them properly they now perform absolutely wonderfully.
No problems in dry or snow so far. Dry weather does make them a bit louder, but who cares. Wet weather doesn't seem to be amazing but they're better than my Goodyear Eagle RS-A stock tires.
I'd recommend these tires for anyone driving a Mazda 3 since that's what I'm using them on. I've heard they're also very good on Mazda 6's.
I live in Montreal and we get a lot of wet/snowy weather. These tires are very good on icy roads. I read other reviews stating that they are a bit "squishy". They are made for cold weather, so therefore the rubber compounds are softer than all season tires. They really are the best winter tires I have ever had, especially when considering the cost.
Firestone Winterforce: Excellent traction, handling and firm on the dry pavement by alyourman ,Jul 10 '09
Pros: Great traction, reasonably priced, excellent ride Cons: none
Bought these tires at the Firestone dealer in Sioux Falls last November-2008, the manager made me a deal I couldn't refuse. After they were installed, I notice a little hum on the dry pavement; but tolerable. Here in Sioux Falls we get alot of rain ice before the snow comes and these tires preformed at expected. The intersections get really ice packed and when you notice alot of drivers sliding through the intersections and I don't slide at all. It's almost as if you have tire chains on all four wheels, amazing stopping grip. One snowstorm we had, I was able to pull around the other cars that were stuck. On my Kia Spectra, the car has a usual size tire 195/60/15, if you want to get your winter tires in the Midwest, you have to order them in September if you want to get the tires in November what the dealer told me.
100,000 miles and still counting by simonalfa ,Oct 09 '09
Pros: Price, When did they actually drop in price by $125 a set Cons: None
I have about 100,000 miles of driving on 1 set of winterforce tires, I did not take them off for the summer and they are just about worn out. Great traction in snow and slush (I drive for a living). I just bought my second set through Tire Rack and got them for $125 cheaper than last time. The size I bought was made in Canada, not sure if other sizes (made in Indonesia) are as good but mine held up well for winter driving and as a summer tire. Wear was even and tires held up well for my use which was cross country towing of boats and cars on a full size Chevy pickup truck. I ordered 1 size larger than standard set and that seemed to help with overall traction
Pros: Excellent Winter Traction Cons: A bit "Squishy" if not inflated to maximum pressure.
These tires have an aggressive tread pattern and are siped for maximum winter traction. They are rated for 44 PSI inflation and should be aired up to this level for maximum handling and gas mileage. They are reasonably priced compared to Blizzaks and other popular brands. In my opinion, they provide similar traction at a less expensive price.
Pros: Superior traction in snow and ice. Also very quiet even with studs. Cons: None
I bought these tires by a friends recommendation for a brand new Kia Sorento 4x4. I live in Iceland and tire prices here are a bit high. My previous experience is that winter tires from Canada and Austria are well designed for winter use. I am very surprised how good these tires are considering that they are sold at very reasonable prices. The give a very soft and quiet ride. I do not notice any difference in sound or in handling from the original Kumho summer tires that were fitted to the Sorento when new. The traction in snow and ice is probably the best that i have ever experienced. I am using the tires with snow studs an still they are very quiet. I am very pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone at least for an SUV like the Sorento. How they are going to last remains to be seen because I have only used them for 2 months.
Maybe they have different snow in PA? by k9bitten ,Oct 02 '06
Pros: Excellent winter traction. Excellent value. Cons: Soft compounds will wear faster once dry weather comes. Just switch back to summer tires.
Don't believe everything. One mans negative opinion doesn't count. I give these tires 4 stars. They do exactly what they're designed to do and they do it well. They are SNOW tires not performance tires. They outperform the Blizzaks I had and at half the price. On my AWD Olds Bravada the thing goes in snow like a tank. I drive an 18 wheel truck here in Maine hauling heating oil all winter. Real snow, for 5 months out of the year. I know scary. These Winterforce tires are an incredible deal and they do EXACTLY what they're designed for. Soft compounds are what makes a great winter tire. You can have all the knobbies and grooves and everything else that makes a tire LOOK like it will perform in snow, but without the soft compound, they're junk. Same goes with a stiff sidewall. Winter tires are just softer all around. Show me a winter tire with a hard compound and I'll show you a horrible tire on hardpack snow and ice. Yes, there'll be a little more body roll than your summer tires but in no way are they a ONE star tire.
Pros: Great grip in snow and ice. Cons: Should change out for summer but.....
I put these on my Mazda MPV mini-van in October. We didn't get much snow until Feb. but these tires have performed very well on wet, dry and snowy pavement. Sure , they're a little noisy but they're not bad at all. Snow and ice traction is sooooo much better than the Michelin Pilots I had on the van before ( those were crappy, quick to wear out tires). My wife and I both loved these in the snow.
