Good for the Ranger Not for Me by gxgt ,Jul 29 '09
Pros: I removed it from both bikes othewise nothing. Cons: Poor shifting and premature breakage.
I treid the Wipperman Connex 9xi 9 speed stainless steel, 40% stonger wonder chain on my two road bikes. On the touring bike I spent a lot of time trouble shooting shifting problems that I didn't attribute to the chain. On my near daily use road bike the chain broke at mile 269 on a flat stretch of road under no more than moderate load. That chain was new and was exchanged for the SRAM PC-991. The shifting improved. Even though it had relatively few miles I removed the Wipperman from the trouring bike, it doesn't get ridden that much and replaced it with a SRAM PC-991 and the shifting immediately got better.
So much for the Wonder Chain. I'm glad it worked for the ranger but I won't be going there again.
