Pros: Custom fit, inexpensive, portable, reusable/disposable. High NRR 34. Cons: They only come in blue.
Recently, I took my son to a Monster Truck show, at an indoor arena. I felt this was a "guy" thing he would enjoy. However, he has always expressed a sensitivity to loud sounds at Hard Rock restaurants and loud movies in surround-sound theaters. ...

Comfortable but well below the Noise Reduction Rating claimed
by mgwdch ,Sep 13 '08
Pros: Comfortable, easy to use, inexpensive, good webiste customer service. Cons: Not anywhere near the claimed NRR 34 noise reduction.
These plugs are essentially putty made of beeswax and cotton. If you've tried foam plugs for sleeping and don't enjoy using them, chances are you'll find these ones more comfortable.
You can pull the putty apart to make the plugs as small and as large as you wish. When used as directed, a considerable amount of the wax will still be sitting outside your ear canal, stuck to your ears, so if it's appearances you are worried about then these are not the plugs for you.
They are inexpensive and customer service from the website is good.
One major reservation about this product however: the claimed NRR rating of 34db is ridiculous and simply not true when the plugs are used in real-life applications outside the testing laboratory (where such ratings are measured). I've used a wide variety of foam (UV and PVC) ear plugs, including NRR 33 rated ones which are the highest rating available for any earsplugs. These wax plugs, by my subjective estimate, offer only between NRR 20 and 25 decibels noise reduction. Beware the hype.

The best ear plugs I've ever used !!
by ackkat ,Sep 30 '09
Pros: * All natural product * Produces silence ! * One pair lasts a long time ! Cons: None
I love these ear plugs. My husband snores and I'm sensitive to loud noises in general - concerts, lightning storms etc. I used to have such insomnia from my husband's snoring until I found these ear plugs. The foam ones worked okay, but not great and they eventually caused pain and rashes in my ears. These Beneficial ear plugs mold to your ear canal and virtually block all of the noise. You would hear a fire alarm, but no snoring at all. I sleep in silence ! If you don't hear silence then you may not have inserted them correctly. They warm in your hand and then mold to your ear canal. Once inserted correctly, sound just disappears. I've been using them for about two years now every night and highly recommend them.
