  • A Plesant Surprise - Great value

    Dec 12 '06
Pros: Quiet, reliable, fast and quick 1st page output.
Cons: Flimsy manual input tray, light copies.

Summary: I bought the MFC-8660 DN to replace an aging (and slow) Xerox XD-100. I was a little skeptical at first because some of the doors, trays, etc. on the Brother looked a little "flimsy" and I thought "this thing will break real soon". That was six months ... read more

  • Expensive to operate, maintain and unreliable

    Oct 05 '09
Pros: Great image quality and speed. When not in the shop, a real charmer.
Cons: Too expensive and unrealiable. Not an original Xerox product.

Summary: Unreliable and Expensive to MaintainThis is our second solid ink printer in 3 years. I had to buy this as a replacement for my 8400 after that broke and was not worth the money to fix. Between parts and labor it would have cost around $700 to ... read more

  • Ideal for a small office

    Sep 17 '09
Pros: Fast, top quality, good value.
    Cons: A bit noisy

Summary: I recently started a small business and needed a good quality printer, as the core of my business is the production of text documents. I knew that I wanted a laser printer and started to shop around for HP products (almost all of my other equipment is ... read more

  • Xerox 8560MFP A/Z

    Jan 14 '09
Pros: Xerox: A great brand name with earned reputation.  Techtronix phaser: cutting-edge, affordable, excellent color output.
Cons: 8560MFP - A bad batch assembly run,  or 8560 full of design flaws and defects?

Summary: Shopped for an upgrade from HP G95 Toner Cartridge multi-function printer.&n bsp; Needed a printer with stronger scan ability,  and reduced cost in ink.  Evaluated over 10 configurations, finally settling on the sold ink multi-function ... read more

  • Fast, Accurate and Quiet (till you print)

    Aug 17 '08
Pros: It is a TRUE Adobe Postscript 3 printer; not an emulation.
Cons: It's silent always, but when it prints it makes a sudden and loud sound.

Summary: I purchased the Phaser 8560/N and have been really satisfied with it. I have owned both a Lexmark C530DN and an HP 3600dn (in the past YEAR) and they were both really, really bad. The Lexmark eats ink. I'm a graphic designer who uses color and I ... read more

  • excellent performer

    Aug 07 '08
Pros: quick, good paper handling, easy to use
Cons: print is a bit light, but is adjustable. Munches envelopes - curls output, otherwise excellent!

Summary: This MFC-8860DN works extremely well. I was able to eliminate my (just died) fax machine plus an old laser printer/sheet scanner with this one machine. Scanner on the laser had just died too when this MFC came up on Craigslist second-hand, so it worked ... read more

  • Xerox Phaser technology - do not buy!

    Feb 20 '08
Pros: solid ink on paper looks pretty good
Cons: unreliable, expensive to maintain, very noisy, slow to start, not user friendly, not a Xerox

Summary: When I finally decided to get a color printer I went for what I thought is the best name: Xerox. The solid ink ads were pretty enticing and I found one under $1,000, the Phaser 8560N, that covered my requirements of low volume color printing. It took ... read more

  • Print Everywhere (even on the road!)

    Jun 13 '07
Pros: Fast, Good Features, Good Operating System Support, Networked.
    Cons: Price, Tricky Envelope Printing..

Summary: This printer has network options which came in very handy, and were one of the reasons I got the printer - my old Laerjet 1000, was not compatible with OSX and going to XP just to print was becoming a pain. While I saw other lower priced ... read more

  • Excellent MFC, easy install, flawless duplex

    Sep 17 '06
Pros: Very fast; duplex capability; USB, Parallel, and ethernet connections; and its a laser.
Cons: No color support, but those run another $300 at the minimum.

Summary: We purchased this product about 3 months ago. We bought this product because my wife wanted the duplex capability for home-schooling. We love the speed and ease of us for this product. We have a 4ppm HP Laserjet 4P that I bought while in college 12 ... read more

  • Brother MFC-8860DN LEMON

    Jul 23 '09
Pros: Very few.  It actually prints & faxes a majority of the time.
Cons: I must have gotten a lemon--full of bugs & problems

Summary: I bought this unit at Costco (they don't carry it anymore) in March 2007.  I write this in July 2009.  I can't wait to get rid of it.  I have owned  HP multi-units in the past & they simply didn't have near the poor design &

  • A great addition to our office!

    Oct 20 '08
    Pros: Duarable, Fast
    Cons: Noisy

Summary: Generally, I would have settled for a cheaper printer for our office use. But a friend told me that he was satisfied with the Phaser 8560 which he got from freeprinterpromo.com so I decided why not give it a try. I have been using this unit for

  • Expensive to run

    Jul 09 '08
    Pros: Features
Cons: Cartridges are expensive. Print quality is not up to HP standards.

Summary: Don't get this machine if you like to use the toner cartridge until you see the print quality diminish. This machine will suddenly decide that the toner cartridge is empty and completely stop. You MUST replace the cartridge before it will print again.

  • DOES NOT DUPLEX COPY 8860DN

    Feb 25 '08
Pros: Except for duplex it works great.
Cons: Deceptive advertising re: duplex copying

Summary: Despite the advertising and user guide for model 8860DN the machine does NOT duplex copy without first scanning the papers and then duplex printing. Once you turn on the scanner the bulb stays on for 16 HOURS yes HOURS or you shorten the life again per

  • Bad out of the box

    Feb 14 '07
Pros: If it works, it's fast with good quality.
Cons: It doesn't work reliably and service is horrible. Long wait on help line.

Summary: I purchased the MFC8860DN to replace a HP multifunction that was 3 years old and too slow and expensive for my needs. The Brother was easy to set up and I had it connected and ready to go in about 20 minutes, but when I turned it on I immediately got a

  • I love it

    Jan 19 '07
    Pros: reliable and full featured
Cons: need to use at least 24lb stock...otherwise pages may curl.

Summary: I've had this MFD for about 6 months now. I think it was a great purchase. I have it plugged in to my network and love how I can scan to pdf. It integrates nicely with Outlook email. Before I got the Brother MFD, I bought a similar HP for my business.
