Pros: its a black hole for time lol, the people Cons: monthly fee, huge downtimes, no real end game, repetitive etc etc
I have played world of warcraft since it came out till last week when I finally caved and cancelled the account. I agree the game is addictive as previous posters have stated. The cartoon-like world is fun and easy to get lost in. The eight hour maintainance each week is a tad annoying, but for me, the thing I couldn't get over was the "Ok, I'm sixty, now what?". In my oppinion this game while entertaining enough to play for about six months, making new chars, trying new servers, farming till you're rich etc wont keep most players content. If you want to kill a few months go for it.
The best MMORPG in the world today by neckername ,Dec 26 '06
Pros: Biggest MMORPG, fun for everyone, helps immagination for kids, and helps social skills. Cons: bad connection=lag, some profanity by other users, addictive, violent in some ways, $15 monthly fee
World of Warcraft is the best and most know MMORPG today. Sure the patches may be large, but they are worth the wait. The world (in World of Warcraft) is constantly evolving and has millions of players worldwide. The reason why there is a $15 monthly fee is because the servers are monitored 24/7 and kept maintained at a 5 star level. The servers themself are top-notch because each one can hold thousands of players without lagg. The only way there will be lag is with dial-up (only in heavily populated areas) or a lost broadband connection (typically with satellite,DSL , and cellular connections. Overall I give the game 5 stars because you will never get bored. There are always new people, buyable merchandise, and lands to explore. I am a parent and my son plays this game and I have watched. I secretly play when he's at school because it's so fun
Great game, cure for the common MMORPG by cshsia ,Jun 10 '05
Pros: Great design, sweet graphics, stable in game economy and controlled cheating. Cons: Alliance-Horde ratio skewed in many servers.
I played many MMORPGs made by Taiwanese and Korean companies back during my high school days. Thinking back on all the hours spent leveling a character, I swore that I was never to play an MMORPG again. Grinding to increase the variable value on a server? gimme a break!
Then one day my IT director handed me his beta account for World of Warcraft, immediately I was hooked. I'm definitely not a hardcore gamer, although I own many games and all 3 consoles, game time is usually limited to off hours from work. Even as a casual gamer, this game allowed me to keep up with the more serious players. Cheating is successfully controlled by Blizzard, and the game experience flows like nothing I've seen before. You no longer thrive for yet another objective. It is the experience that keeps you going.
So far, Blizzard has been updating at a steady pace, keeping things interesting. It's never too late to get in, if you havn't started playing, get it and join us in Azeroth today~!
Blizzard Keeps the good ones coming by Bopher ,Mar 30 '07
Pros: Excellent Graphics, Easy interface Cons: The whole paying $15 monthly to play
For the longest time I refused to play the game because of the monthly service fee. When I finally broke down and tried it out I loved the game. My friends lists are huge and usually if anyone of my fiends are online they will join me to finish some quests up. The user interface is very easy to use. The ability to only learn 2 skills at a time is a little annoying and sometimes there are lag problems.
WOW - what a waste of money by krnlfrbn ,Mar 04 '06
Pros: None really Cons: Impossible login times, install is way too long
Don't waste you money on this game, unless you like playing at 6:00a.m. So many people are like "buy wow man" - purchased it 48hours ago, got on once long enough to create character (after a 1 hour install on a workhorse pc) and have not been able to get on even a Low population server. Yeh, sure, when I create my character I get priority to Blizzard servers. Then, after I have plunked down my hard earned $50 for the software, I am unable to use it. Whatever Blizzard, at least the two versions of my xbox rock online. WOW=POS
Pros: Highly Addictive, Outstanding Graphics, Lots of Weapons and Classes Cons: Monthly Fees
This game is highly addictive. The developers have worked hard on the models and textures for this game, and you can tell. I like how the game looks a bit more cartoony than real life. There is a huge variety of weapons. You can equip your players with so many accessories. Some accessories are helmets, shoulderpads, chest armor, and leggings. They even have shoes that you can equip. The large amount of customization brings this game to life. It's very fun to play.
The only thing that made me quit playing this game was the monthly fees. I don't like paying $15 a month to play a game. Other than the monthly fees, it's a terrific game.
Pros: easy to play, fun Cons: long load times for servers
I recently got this game. I came over from EQ & EQ2 to check it out as one of my friends was bugging me to try it. I started a character and was very impressed by the vibrant colors and the action systems. I enjoy the questing as you can do most anything in this game solo if you only have an hour, or in a group if you're looking to do bigger things.
I wasnt very impressed with some of the graphics though. The worlds look colorful and good, but not great. With a top of the line video card the graphics still look comparable to the EQ graphics from 2001. The character models are a bit boxy and have little detail. I'm hoping that they will be upgraded as time progresses. Also the server waits and patch downloads take forever.
Pros: Amazing graphics, cool characters, Good storyline, neverending fun, could play all day! Cons: there are no cons, whoever thinks there are is a BAD PERSON!
I myself have played these games with equivilint time spent on each, i have decided that World of warcraft or WOW is THE online game of the year, and i am sure that it is better than any game that is not online as it is full of adventure and FUN!!!
Got hooked.... very immersive game! by steve771 ,Oct 31 '06
Pros: Immersive, addictive, fun, this game really has it all. Cons: Graphics are a little dated.
Never really thought I would get into an online game. I was offered a trial and really got into this one though. While teaming up is encouraged due to the difficult of some quests, you can solo as well for those times you just want to be on your own. The monthly fee isn't bad as far as on line games go (get gamecards on Amazon - it's the cheapest way to go).
Good game gone bad due to awful service by franklin911 ,Jul 26 '05
Pros: Fun game when it's up Cons: Chronic server issues, multiple unfixed game breaking bugs, no customer service. Game is unplayable.
I played WoW for 2 months, and let me say...It's a shame to see a game with so much potential in such utterly incompetent hands. The game itself is pretty good, but Blizzard is inept at customer service. You will experience: Multiple server crashes, random disconnects just before bosses, "known issue" bugs that haven't been fixed since beta (1 yrs), newer bugs that players report and never get fixed, weekly radical balance changes, nonexistant GM support, nonexistant communication between Blizzard and the customers.
Most of the original Blizzard team that brought you Warcraft I-III quit in frustration over the last 2 years because the company has gone down the tubes since Vivendi took over. Play this game to find out why.
Pros: Outstanding, gameplay, quests, graphics, and interface. Cons: After the last update, the game became unplayable due to bugs.
This would be a fantastic game if it would work. It has the potential to be the best online RPG game ever. The quests are numerous and challenging, the gameplay is excellent, and the graphics are fantastic. Unfortunately, the game is hopelessly bugged. After the last update the game locked up and froze regularly. Blizzard tech support doesn't answer emails promptly, and apparently they aren't staffed to fix the problems.
Great game, but too much server downtime by piersonr ,Jan 29 '05
Pros: graphics, gameplay, community Cons: downtime, addictiveness
I've been playing WOW for about a month now, and I've been both impressed and disappointed by the game. The game, in general, is fantastic. The community is good, quests are planned intelligently, and the graphics and interface are great. Perhaps the most impressive element to the game, in fact, are the graphics, which aren't just your standard "create a few images and then keep re-pasting them all over the game." Nearly ever day I play I see new and interesting scenes.
On the other hand, however, the servers are unexpectedly down way too much. You get knocked offline sometimes, and the servers are down much too often (~1/week unscheduled downtime, once per week scheduled maintenance) if the users are paying $15/mo.
Pros: Everything! Cons: I don't like paying $15 a month for it
This game is amazing. At first, I thought that paying monthly for a game is a really bad idea. I decided to check it out, and I couldn't stop playing!!!
There are so many other people to play with and duel with.
The graphics are amazing.
You have a HUGE variety of character choices.
Once you start playing, you will never want to stop!!!
There are absolutely no bad parts of this game. It is very well made.
I don't know what else to say, other than, GO OUT AND BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!
Pros: Battlegrounds PvP system. Cons: WoW gets completely boring after 2 weeks of play.
What happens when you take the same old boring MMO gaming system and pour sugar on it? You get WoW, that's what. It's a huge timesink and currently has zero endgame fun.
They ONLY promising thing about WoW is it's PvP system that's being developed. Personally, I'd rather go play NWN or HL2. They don't take 6 months to create a character that I can PvP with...
Pros: cool weapons armor good pvp set up and plenty of players Cons: takes over your life average 15 dollars a month
A great game for people who are just starting mmorpgs.good graphics guilds and over 4000 quests what could be better best mmorpg i have played.and i have played eq eq2 city of villans-heros lineage1-2 and guild wars
