Pros: Magnificent casework& tonal depth, stability and resonance Cons: Price is a bit high, but you get what you pay for
When I first played the new CFIIIS piano I was more than moderately impressed. Before I even lifted the fallboard, I was instantly drawn to the gold Yamaha logo on the side- this is a new addition and wasn't on the old concert grand. The finish to the...

Pros: The best value in the piano world today! Cons: There are none.
First of all what the fine gentleman who is a Steinway fan forgets is that Yamaha has been making pianos since the late 1880's. Second He forgets that more professional musicians and artists use Yamaha than any other piano. And finally Yes Yamaha is a fantastic value for what you get. Which is quite simply one of the finest handmade(the 9') musical instruments on the planet. Just a little side note to my Steinway friend, the #1 selling piano in the world, the piano found on more concert hall stages in the world and the most asked for piano by name in the world....Yamaha. Then scale design is flawless, the action is light and responsive and the tone lends itself to every genre of music.
Pros: Superb action. Cons: none, except for the jealous Steinway D lovers
The action on this piano is incredible!!
From the softest pianissimo to the loudest fortissimo and every dynamic range in between, this concert grand delivers!!
The tone is even better! For classical selections such as Schumann's "An Important Event" which makes heavy use of the bass notes, the clarity and evenness of each key is very audible. One can very easily distinguish all of the nuances.
The same is true for the treble. It sings majestically almost as if it were anticipating the next note.
True pianists will discover a rare beauty in this handmade gem.
It's no wonder why music schools, professionals, and amateurs alike choose Yamaha! Who wouldn't?
The Best Piano I've ever played by kbshearer ,Sep 17 '06
Pros: Perfect action, tone, and articulation Cons: I wish this level of performance could come in a smaller package
Okay.....I'm not a Steinway expert, but I've played good and bad Steinways. I've played 140k Bosendorfers. The Yamaha CFlllS is the finest piano I have ever played. The action was perfect. Fast and responsive. The tone was articulate and completely even throughout the entire range. Every nuance I wanted to express was effortlessly translated. To me the tone had much more character than some of the more expensive German options. Some may find it bright, I did not. For me, it is the ultimate piano.
