A good drive for it's day, oldie but a goodie

Pros: IDE interface, 8 meg buffer, plays well with other ide devices
Cons: no fancy overrun protection or other more recent "anti-coaster" technology.
I've had this drive for a couple of years and it has basically served me well; I'm not sure that it's even made anymore. It works as promised as an internal IDE cdrw drive. I've never had one problem with the drive that I know about.

Lousy

Pros: Can't find any.
Cons: Pseudo 16x (12x CAV), noisy, firmware updates destroy the drive, lousy warranty
The first one of these I bought at Fry's for ~ $200 in 2000. It was dead on arrival. Tech support said they had some "problems" with some of the drives. Plus, the drive is not really 16x, it is 12-16x using CAV, which slows the drive down toward the...
