Yu-gi-what

by tommy_lop Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Sep 19 '02
Pros: a good cartoon show
Cons: not exactly suited for the same age of children has Pokemon.
All right when I first heard of Yu-gi-oh, I thought now there's a ridicules sounding name for a show. Well I started watching it and the show actually turn out to be good.

Story.
The story follows the adventures of Yugi Moto and his...

Yu-Gi-Oh! : Egyptian Gods and Legendary Dragon.... Cards?

by jeremy1456 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Aug 27 '02
Pros: Great Animation, Each Episode is Entertaining To The Very End
Cons: Most Episodes Seem To Fly By Too Fast
Ever since the anime series Pokemon first showed up on television in the United states it has become quite the commodity, and whenever a certain style of show becomes very popular it's almost a guarantee that similar shows will start popping up ...

Best Possestion Since "The Exorcist"!

by LoneWOlf316 , Dec 18 '02
Pros: a mostly non-violent show for both kids and teens alike
Cons: fans of the card game will feel out of place with the altered rules.
I, like most other people, first heard of the show and wrote it off as nothing more than a horrid Pokemon rip-off (and trust me, one Pokemon-esque show is plenty). But, I noticed that they actually were trying to get a plot and a message across to the...

The glory (???) of advertizing

by catu11us , Nov 17 '03
Pros: You aren't forced to watch it. You can easily turn it off.
Cons: There is a partial list in the lengthy article below.
This is a completely revised version of an earlier review entitled “What Hath the Advertizing Department Wrought?” on the basis of some very helpful comments. There have long been trading cards (among other products) associated with various TV ...

Yu-gi-oh in the states- a reason why 4kids insults anime

by dawnyoshi , Sep 30 '02
Pros: Well, the Japanese version is good.
Cons: Worst.Dub.Ever
Please note- since this is my first review on televised anime, I will be sticking with a simple format. The show is graded not only on plot and entertainment, but is also graded this way based on a comparison between the dub and the original uncut...

Heart of the TV, show Yu-Gi-Oh!!!
by galacto ,Jun 06 '04
Pros: monsters, exciting duels
Cons: States the obvious in the beginning of the episode, a rulebreaker sometimes, somewhat predictable
First off, it is definitely not violent. Yet, some of the monsters are a little scary. And it's very dark and creepy during Shadow Games. But still, it's an honest show.

Makes Pokemon Look Good
by weregarurumon ,Jan 19 '05
Pros: Uh...nothing I can think of.
Cons: An obvious Pokemon rip-off; lame characters; shallow concept and storyline
If you thought the old Pokemon show was bad, you haven't seen anything yet.

Sure, that show was nothing special to begin with. Compared to this, however, it looks like a masterpiece.

"Yu-Gi-Oh!" revolves around the cliched plot of using monsters to fight villains and save others. Boy, like that hasn't been done a thousand times before.

Not only that, but nearly every monster there is bears some resemblance to a Pokemon character. That's just a bit of evidence that it's a Pokemon rip off.

The characters are dumb and have lame personalities. Not one of them is engaging - - even Ash was more interesting than these people. Ever listened to Yugi, Kaiba, or any of them? Notice that they sound like Entei, Molly, etc.? It's because they have the SAME VOICE ACTORS. Basically all the show ends up feeling like is a half hour commercial for the TCG.

Unless you really need this kind of stuff, I'd advise that you pass on this show. Play one of your old Digimon/Pokemon/some-kind-of-monster-show game, or better yet, play something totally unrelated. Leave this rubbish on the shelf where it belongs and should have been in the first place.
