Pros: Much less expensive than the other stuff, works. Cons: Not as strong as the perscription, (but has a better strength to $ ratio)
I recently stumbled on some of the reviews for this product, and I felt like I should respond to some of the other review as well as share my own experience with Zodiac spot applications. While we are at it, we may as well discuss the competition, so ...
Pros: They Offer All The Products Needed For Excellent Flea Control & Prevention Cons: They Haven't Been Able To Annihilate Fleas Yet
I was a licensed pest control technician until a few years ago...and learned everything anyone would want to know about flea control and prevention (and things I didn't want to know!)...
Pros: None Cons: This product most likely killed my cat according to my vet and the lab.
My cat died 12 hours after I applied the Zodiac Spot On Flea medication. The vet and lab were unable to find any other cause for his death. There was nothing wrong with him that could have caused his death. He had no internal bleeding or trauma. Organs...
Pros: I have no beneficial remarks to make about this product Cons: The individual vials are vitally lacking in necessary information
I am very grateful to have found this site and the warning posted by someone else about their problem with the Zodiac Spot On Flea Control. I regret that their cat (and many other cats, going by their report) have died as a result of this product. The...
Pros: cheap at only 6.00 to 12.00 (sometimes it's on sale) Cons: none
I am a proud owner of a Rottweiler dog. I live in the city and every season I fight the battle of the fleas. I think it was about three years ago when I noticed my dog was pulling out hair and scratching like mad and everything I tried just would not...
I bought this product for all 3 of my cats and It did not work one bit on any of them! All it did was leave a huge, oily spot on each of their backs. It was nice that you only had to use it in just one place, between the shoulder blades. I gave it about...
Pros: Worked for like 2 weeks Cons: Fleas are still in my home!! And I moved!!
I did research on several products before deciding to buy Zodiac Spot-On. 1-month 4 application for Cats and Kittens. The reviews that I read were all positive so I was like what the heck! My Vet had already warned me off of Hartz so here is where we stood.
Anyways, I put the product on my cats and at first they were acting a little irrational. Kinda running around like they were having some type of reaction. The back of the box said it may cause sensitivity and it told me what to do if salivation were to occur. After like 20 minutes of this they finally calmed down and were back to there happy selves. I changed apartments moving my cats into the new place about 6 hours after applying the product. They have been fine up until this point. Lately however they have ever so slightly started to scratch and I'm being bitten. What is the deal? If I wanted to try something new should I wait out the course of the month before applying new product or should I wash out and try something else.
I applied Zodiac Fleatrol Spot On to my cat and, as in two other reviews: Immediately: 1. She started running around the house as if I'd given her a bleach enema and 2. She began foaming at the mouth. I threw her in the kitchen sink and washed off what I could. I brought the unused tubes to my vet and he said, "You didn't use this yet, did you?" I said yes and he asked if my cat foamed at the mouth. "How did you know?" My vet explained that he's had a number of cats brought in after this has been used, symptoms include the foaming, shaking, seizures, and, his personal worse case, a cat that was so sick it had to remain in the hospital for a week on an IV. WHY IS THIS BEING SOLD? Vet said it is not regulated by the FDA as similar name brand products.
It's been about 4 days since I applied a treatment on both cats we have. That's just an intro to the only complaint I have.
I applied the product on the base of the skull, on the skin, as instructed. As for my complaint? It was a lot of product and went on to cover a large area all by itself. I'm not comfortable with that - my more ambitious cat licked a lot of the product.
Pros: ease of application Cons: causes physical pain to pets
I applied this to my cat and she ran out of the house like her tail was on fire! I soon found out why. I inadvertantly got a little bit of the liquid on my hands when I applied it and later I stroked my beard. In just a couple of minutes my chin began to burn... and that was just from a trace on my hands! The burning subsided about ten minutes later.
I can't imagine how much it must have hurt my cat to have the whole applicator full spread on her back. I won't use the remaining three applicators on her.
I didn't see any fleas on my cat during the one month claimed period of effectiveness, so I guess the product worked. But I'll never use it again.
I used this on both my cats and it didn't work. A few days after I applied it I found live fleas on my cat. Use Frontline. Even though it's much more expensive at least you will get rid of the fleas
Great for torturing your pet by gochicago ,Sep 05 '08
Pros: it's cheap Cons:
Will change your dog's life for the worse
Applied to my dog and within three hours he had a horrible rash and welts everywhere. I've given him three baths and he still is biting and scratching. He also just stares at the wall for hours.
Do not buy -- does not work by fluffywhitedog ,Jan 12 '09
Pros: Very cheap. Cons: It does not kill the fleas.
About two weeks ago my dogs had a sudden, bad infestation of fleas. I bought Zodiac Spot On at Petco because it seemed easier than going to the vet to get Frontline (and because I incorrectly assumed the flea products all worked the same). A day later I called Zodiac customer service to report that I was still finding fleas on the dogs. The CS rep. said it can take 24 hours to work. So I waited. A week later my dogs were still scratching constantly and I was still finding living fleas on them. I then spent the extra money for Frontline. After applying Frontline, I saw no more live fleas on the dogs only 24 hours later. I wasted $27 on the Zodiac. I should have gone with the more expensive stuff to begin with.
Biggest Rip-off i've ever bought!!! by ncsurveyor ,Sep 08 '09
Pros: Not a single pro to this gimmick. Cons: It does not work. Everything they advertise on the box is a lie.
This product is absolutly the biggest waste of money i've ever bought. It had zero affect on my dogs fleas. I should have bought Frontline to begin with. I had to go back to the vet a week later and buy frontline. I didn't see one bit of improvement to my dogs flea condition after putting this on him. If your dog has fleas do not waste your money on this gimmick.
