Pros: wonderful storytelling aspects thanks to the author Cons: none
Every now and then, a book will come along that completely knocks me off my feet. A few years ago, I marveled at the ingenuity of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The plot was so fresh, unique and it was surprisingly captivating for being ...
Pros: Beautifully, sympathetically written look at the growing pains of four young women Cons: Sometimes deals frankly with situations that, unfortunately, are all too common for young females
As a self-confessed unenlightened male, I'm a little late coming to the party that is The Sisterhood of the Pants, the acclaimed novel for young adults by Ann Brasheres. Truth is, I've only read Brashares' new sequel, The Second Summer of the...
Pros: Easy to relate to, lovable endearing characters Cons: seems to lack a bit of character depth because there are four main characters.
This book is a wonderfully written tale of the second summer of the Traveling Pants. In the unlikely event that you are unfamiliar with the basic storyline, the foundation is as follows. Four teenage best friends find a pair of second hand jeans that ...
Pros: Funny, charming Cons: A little boring, not as good as the last one!
Who wouldn't be attracted to the amusing title and cute cover of this fabulous read? After thoroughly enjoying the first book, I was a little disapointed at this one. I felt it went on too long.
About four girls and their adventures in the...
Pros: Even better than the first book. It goes deeper into their lives relationships. Cons: No cons exept for that it may not be appropriate for kids younger then 10.
This is great follow-up to the first book.I strongley reccommend it to anyone! Tibby is away at fil ...
The next summer is here by varechtchouk ,Mar 25 '06
Pros: Interesting, catching, funny. Cons: sad at times, girly
In this book, Carmen, Lena, Bridget, and Tibby continue sharing the pair of pants that united them the summer before. They go on different adventures. For example, Bridget goes to visit her old hometown and her grandmother in order to learn more about herself and her dead mother. Lena stays at home and spends time with Karlos as she realizes that she is in love. Tibby is still trying to get over Bailey's death, and Carmen discovers that her mother is in love while she can't find any way to feel attracted to her own boyfriend.
a sequel as captivating as the original by manbugsquisher ,Sep 09 '03
Pros: captivating plot, each character (like the reader) has matured from the first novel Cons: a little racier than the first
The sequel to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was a great one. I enjoyed the plots, which reflected each girl's coming of age. This book is a little racier than the first one, but it leaves much to the imagination (not to worry). Lena's story in particular shows her becoming an adult and beginning to explore her sexuality. Teenage girls will probably be able to relate to aspects of the stories. The theme of friendship and support is constant throughout, which I think is the most inspiring element of this novel (and the original). It makes me want to be 16 again! This is a great read for teenage girls, a book that should captivate their attention immediately. I am a particularly picky reader, but I read this book in a day and loved it.
