Pros: A few good/great songs, Ginger's lovely voice, pop sensibility... Cons: Lack of direction, lack of creativity, and lackluster songwriting...
Formed in 1989, the Wildhearts have been a relatively prolific band. The British hard rockers were loud, brash, and regarded as genuinely talented. The band suffered from much inner turmoil (spurred on by lead singer Ginger’s mood swings and outbursts) ...

Pros: big loud choruses, big loud hooks, hard rocking and fun Cons: barely over a half hour in length, same general sound employed on multiple tracks

Good CD, Even Better Live
by arokh333 ,Mar 19 '05
Pros: Loud, unpolished, simple yet catchy lyrics. Cons: Give yourself time to warm up to their sound.
I saw these guys when they opened for The Darkness last year. I'm a bit of a musical snob and it takes me a long time to warm up to anything new so I didn't pay much attention to them at the time. I wish I had.
This CD really gets to the heart of what a good rock album should be. Loud, unpolished, and simple yet catchy lyrics. It's a little rough around the edges but I find it a refreshing change to the mass-produced, corporate-rock that is so popular these days.
I wouldn't consider myself a music critic by any means but I think The Wildhearts are really under-rated. Even though I first heard of these guys as an opening act, I listen to their CDs now more than I listen to who they were opening up for!
If $10 won't kill you and you want something that gets better with every tick of the volume knob, buy this disc! Then get ready to see them live next time they come to your town.
