After 8 mo. with my AIWA CDC-MP32YU

by luckinbi , Dec 31 '08
Pros: Plays MP3 CDs. Looks cool.
Cons: Motorized front panel doesn't operate in chilly weather. Audio & MP3 CDs skip.
Its a nice looking unit. The audio and MP3 CDs skip on bumps and smooth fast turns. Interesting that audio CDs are more likely to skip than the MP3 CDs. Since mid October we've had chilly weather in the Chicago area. If my car is not...

Decent unit for the money; some shortfalls

by zwerski , Mar 30 '04
Pros: Cheap, steering wheel remote, plays MP3 discs, hides itself when off.
Cons: Skips, skips, skips, skips...
This unit was installed in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler about a year ago, and I am pleased overall with the unit. The biggest headache with this model is the unending skipping that is compounded by my Jeep's super-stiff suspension and short wheel base which ...

I can sympathize with danbrown.

by emptypockets50 , Jun 30 '03
Pros: I am going to buy a new unit from another manufacturer.
Cons: I will have lived and learned not to buy from Aiwa ever again!
I bought my Aiwa CDC-MP32 unit through Crutchfield on sale and thats where my troubles began. In the first week the motorized faceplate stopped working. Crutchfield promptly replaced the unit and I asked the salesman if they had problems with this unit an ...

Save up and buy a better one.

by rjuliao , May 20 '03
Pros: Affordable, easy to install, decent cd sound and mp3 playback
Cons: LED too bright, remote is useless, high probability of faceplate motor damage
The radio itself plays decent, but the steering wheel remote has to be set up in a specific place to work, therefore it is useless or you may crash trying to change a station. I should have kept my $150 and saved more to buy a better radio, one that...

Hot deals!

by jhonyquest5 , Jan 21 '03
Pros: i paid 190 dollars for it... read review for web site for great deals!
Cons: Skips like a mother!
I love this head unit in every way. The display is cool, the stealth face is hot and everyone who rides in my truck loves it. Then the laugh when it skips on any little bump.... good on the highway. If you get one that skips, just bring it back cause it...

Skip skip skip skip

by cs577 , Jan 12 '03
Pros: Looks cool, great security feature, decent interface, good sound
Cons: Skips HORRIBLY, no pause button, mp3s start at beginning when restarting car
This mp3 player would be great if it didn't skip like it does. No matter a data cd of mp3s or an audio cd, the player will skip. The sad part is that one does not even have to be going over a bump to have the player skip--it will skip for no reason!...

A great unit for the price

by nintenduc , Dec 10 '02
Pros: Low price, folding face, easy to read display
Cons: Folding face can jam, MP3s restart when car shut off, skips, can't randomize across folders
For the budget-conscious consumer, the Aiwa CDC-MP32 is a great choice. The folding flap never fails to impress passengers (though its value as a theft deterrent probably isn't high). It does what you'd expect from a basic MP3 player: display ID3 tags,...

Not highly recommended

by hyperzone , Nov 18 '02
Pros: Price, sounds good, looks cool
Cons: Skips horribly, not very durable, slow MP3 seek time
- I had never had an Aiwa head unit B4. I wuz initially impressed w/ the look and sound of it. The colors were pretty bright but after toying w/ the dimming of it I made it more comfortable to the eyes. I wuz really happy w/ having a car MP3 player...

Affordable, but disappointing

by ervan , Nov 02 '02
Pros: MP3 player, Price, front-panel input jack
Cons: forgets location within song, fails on many MP3s,
The basic MP3 player works as expected, handling the directory structure, and displaying all of the MP3 tag data on the display. Audio quality is good.

However, I have experienced several problems with mine (based on files ripped by Music...

Aiwa Skips Too Much

by wiper , Oct 21 '02
Pros: Nice steering wheel remote
Cons: Sensitive to skipping
I just replaced my first MP3 player, an Aiwa CDC-MP32, with the Sony CDX-MP30 and I am very satisfied. The Aiwa was very sensitive to rough road skipping, which I originally attributed to my Miata's short wheelbase, but with the Sony NONE of the old...

Mostly good

by forbiggs , Oct 19 '02
Pros: Attractive, well-lit display. Plays mp3 cds and standard cds well. Random play mode.
Cons: "Random play" only works on the first 130 mp3s. Occasional skips.
I've owned my Aiwa cdc-mp32 since April 02. I bought it to play mp3s because I can fit 187 mp3 songs on a single cd. I really like the features and sound quality. My only annoyance is that it only plays the first 130 mp3s in the random play mode. The...

Great value, glad I got it

by aguada99 , Sep 11 '02
Pros: Inexpensive, plays MP3/CD/CDR/CDRW, 50Wx4 and the disappearing face
Cons: Colors a little bright, may skip going over big pot holes
I first went looking for a new receiver for my old '90 Jetta, which I would be driving to school. Aiwas had my attention because of their aux port, which most other brands did not have. I wanted a receiver that played CDs, and could play MP3s and...

I will never buy an Aiwa again

by danbr0wn , Aug 28 '02
Pros: Really cool retractable faceplate, wireless steering wheel remote
Cons: Cheaply made, breaks easily
I bought the Aiwa CDC-MP32 five months ago. For the first two months I was satisfied with its performance, until that really "cool" retractable faceplate FELL OFF, left dangling by only a flex cable. Luckily it was still under warrantee and I shipped it...

MP3 CD Player For The Bargain Shopper.

by roc26531 , Jun 15 '02
Pros: MP3,Black Panel Face Plate,Price,Steering Wheel Mounted Remote
Cons: Slow load time for MP3's
I recently purchased a used car and it did not include a CD player. Just about all of my friends bought Sony head units which are all great but I wanted something more original.

I was willing to spend up to $300 on a unit alone and I was...

AIWA MP3 Has A Long Way To Go

by reedw98 , May 23 '02
Pros: Reads MP3 files, aux input in front of unit, and magic flap security.
Cons: Skips like crazy. 2-3 second pause between tracks. No anti-shock memory what-so-ever.
I recently bought this MP3 deck from Crutchfield. I didn't even think to check for anti-shock memory because I automatically assumed that a car CD deck would have that. Nope. None at all. I tried all I could to dampen the shocks out and it still skipped...
