1983 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup

Pros: ..fuel efficient, sort of cool to motor about in, nice bedliner to tote stuff around.
Cons: ..the dealer gets a lot of bread for various ailments over the past 20+ years........

...during the summer of 1986, while hard at work in our coffee lounge, a co-worker drifted thru and mumbled something about his truck being for sale in the paper for 5,000. He further indicated my price would be 4500. I did not respond because who needs a truck.

..about a week later: same scenario - - - only the figures were 4500/4000. My thoughts had not changed.

..another week: 4000/3500. I saw movement - a handshake was in progress. I looked down. One of the hands was mine.

That was 20 years ago. The truck has obviously made a friend.
Sometimes - on a long, slow freeway trip - we've managed 55 miles per gallon. Given real time fuel prices, I really glad I shook hands on the deal.

If you can find one, buy one. No, mine's not for sale.
