Pros: Comfort; Acceleration; Handling; RELIABLE Cons: Parts Costs
Hi there,
Well I was 16 when I bought my first Prelude (1984) and although the body rusted out from under me the engine and overall running of the car was unbeat. I owned the car for 3 years and within that time I was not expecting it to last....

Pros: Awesome dependability, fun to drive, great quality Cons: back seat isn't roomy at all
My parents purchased my first car, a 86 Honda Prelude in 1994 for $5,000. It had 92000 miles on it at the time of purchase. I loved my Prelude and if I didn't require a 4-door now because I have children I would of purchased another Prelude in an...

Pros: Fun to drive, reliable, fast for it's engine Cons: Small back seats
I am 16 years old and my parents bought me a Honda Prelude at my request. I love this car! It is so fun too drive and the 4 cylinder 1.8 liter engine is faster than I thought (which has 120 horse power). I didn't expect it to be this fast. It takes...

Pros: Reliability 100% Cons: none
Few people look back on their cars owned during the teenage years and think that they owned a well-rounded dependable car (at least the people I know). In the summer after my junior year in high school, I was looking for another car (as I totalled my...

Pros: RELIABLE, handles great, roof!, personality Cons: rust, no fuel injection
I bought my navy blue 1986 Honda Prelude in 1996 from a woman who bought it brand new. The original owner and her husband bought matching preludes, blue for her and red for him back in 86. She drove the car only about a mile to work and back everyday and...

Pros: Everything about them is a pro!! Cons: They do rust on the driver side by the gas tank a bit, but fix it up and enjoy the rest of the car! : )
Just over 200,000 miles!!
What else needs to be said? No major rebuilds to the engine or transmission what so ever. Just new breaks and exhaust and tires and other minor stuff you know? These Preludes are also by far the most fun Hondas out there to...

Pros: very reliable, dependable, good gas mileage, fast & fun, low maintenance, good name Cons: small, can't carry a lot of friends
Almost two years ago, I purchased a 1986 Honda Prelude and I've been nothing short of impressed with the car since. I bought the car with 165,000 miles on it and it's now been 185,000 miles. In two years, I've had no major mechanical problems and very...

Pros: good construction and looks Cons: small back seat The Bottom Line: If you can find a good 86 Honda Prelude in good shape, buy it. It will last forever with good care.
I bought my 86 honda new in late 85; in January of 86 the car was chosen by Car and Driver magazine as one of the world's top ten cars. You can get a copy of this issue of Car and Driver on ebay, where I found one..I had lost the first one. It deserves ...

Pros: A great car that is reliable and fun to drive. Cons: Every car has them, but nothing worth mentioning. The Bottom Line: One great car that unfortunately is no longer being built. Those of you that are owners of any Prelude raise your glass to a great Honda.
A friend gave the Prelude to me, so I am the third owner. The Prelude has been in New York all of its life, so there is plenty of rust and you expect that when you are dealing with New York weather. Overall I have not had any problems with it. I have...

Pros: Good price, fuel effecient, comfortable, and sporty looking. Cons: A little bit squishy for the people sitting in the backseat. The Bottom Line: I would reccomend this car to anybody who is looking for something fun to drive that is great on gas and has a really nice sporty look.
The first car that I bought when I was sixteen was a 1983 Honda Prelude which was in great condition and I loved to death. Unfortunately I was in a car accident that totaled the car. Two months later I bought a 1986 Honda Prelude which was just as great...

Pros: Very reliable car for its age, sporty yet cheap to maintain, good gas mileage Cons: Seats in the back are cramped for the designated three person capacity.
When i first acquired this great car the only thing it needed at the time was a new muffler because the original one had multiple holes which i patched up. Tires were also needed. I got this car with 132205 miles on it,now i have about 155610 miles and in this gap of miles the only thing i needed to have done was regular maintenance (i.e. Oil,brake pads,). the only major components that needed to be changed during my ownership was the water pump, timing belt and other belts as preventative maintenance, tires, air filter, fuel injector o rings, battery terminal which was free, and a coolant leakage was fixed. The most expensive thing on here is the timing belt and drive belt replacement, which is $400 but it is well worth it. The Engine still runs strong. The car needs to get new paint however for when this car was acquired there was paint fading, also a few minor dents, this prelude is scheduled to get a paint job done soon. Overall This car is Great and has potential to be one of the most reliable, dependable, fuel efficient and sportiest cars ever.

Pros: look, fuel economy, pretty fast, and insane handling Cons: rust, very very small rear seat
i bought this car when i was 16 for only 250$ because the front end was damaged by a tractor,i found some parts for only $30 because the friend of my father have one for the parts,i changed the starter and the alternator and a couple of reparation and maintenance because the ex owner didn't know how to take care of a car.the paint was really crappy so i repainted it.i have been really surprised of the handling for a 86 car,and how its fast for a little 110hp 2.0 so if you find one just buy it its a great choice!
