Pros: Amazing mix of performance/reliability/economy Cons: Roof glue couldn't take the Texas heat
I purchased my 'Lude a little more than a year ago, and had no idea that I would get such a great vehicle for less than $3,000. I was looking at several used cars, but after seeing this one available, I snapped it up immediately. Let me tell you what...

Pros: Sports car handling, economical, bulletproof Honda build quality. Cons: Needs more power; shorter shifts. Seatbelt alarm is annoying The Bottom Line: Cheap to own, a blast to drive, a solidly-built economy car with an edge.
Exterior: As is typical for Honda, the styling is pretty conventional–I would not call this car a "looker." However the car is not badly styled; the lines are clean and purposeful, and you're unlikely to find anybody who would consider this an "ugly"...

Pros: mechanically sound, many features, still easy to work on Cons: none
My first Honda, but definitely not my last. I was shopping for a VW Jetta when I noticed this older prelude. It was about 8 years old but it was still very stylish and looked to me much newer. I was shocked when I was told I was looking at an 8...

Pros: Low maintenance Cons: Little leg room for back seat passengers
I just can't say enough about the Honda Prelude. I have owned my car for 12 years and I must say it has definitely surpassed my expectations of a car. Can you believe it has over 120,000 miles on it and it still runs beautifully.
The Honda...

Pros: Economical, Dependable & Sporty Cons: Difficult access to some engine parts.
I have been the proud owner of a Honda Prelude since 1988!! It has provided me with style, power and a stable wallet. With little more than the regular scheduled maintenance and normal wear and tear, I have enjoyed driving my Prelude for over...

Pros: Looks sporty, good acceleration, decent gas mileage Cons: Little leg space in the back seat, no CD player, no power locks or windows The Bottom Line: Even if it has 200,000 miles on it buy it because I think it will last until 300,000.
My Dad bought this car for me for $4,000 in 1997 from a used car dealership. It had 120,000 miles on it and lasted me nine years almost until 200,000. It has comfortable bucket seats in the front and room for two or, uncomfortably, three in the back. ...

Pros: Reliable, sporty, fast, handling, sufficient, bang for the buck Cons: Seat belts on recall, clutch, alternator
I have owned my Honda Prelude for five years and have been very satisfied. I like the car for the following reasons:
1. It never breaks down.
2. It looks sporty and is more modern than its age might suggest.
3. It has nice pick up...

Pros: OK turning radius, reliable, sturdy, comfortable seats, fun to drive. Cons: Parts/repairs somewhat expensive and hard to find used, some annoying people want to race. The Bottom Line: A 1988 Honda Prelude can be a great buy, as long as it has been reasonably well cared for and not raced-out.
Ever since I dated a guy with a red 1989 Prelude (almost 10 years ago!) I have always had a desire to own one myself.
In November of 2000 I got my late-eighties dream car - in yellow. And she was quite a steal too, at just over $2000. The only thing...

Pros: Great, reliable high mileage vehicle Cons: Little bit on the low side. The Bottom Line: I have been extremely please with my Prelude. Does not cost too much to maintain and gets great mileage even with 175000 on her.
In dire need of a car, I researched and found myself a 1988 Honda Prelude Si with 147000 miles on her for $2500. For those who do not know, the Si is the fully loaded model which listed for over $16000 when it was new, and in 1988 that was pretty high dol ...

Pros: lots of power, few repairs, smooth handling Cons: decent gas mileage, but not nearly as high as my Ford Escort The Bottom Line: An awesome automobile! Can't imagine driving any other make or model.
Not counting the repairs necessary after I crashed this car twice, the only visits I've had to make to the mechanics were for ordinary maintenance (i.e., oil changes, tires, replacement of hoses, etc.). Excellent performance for a car with over 135,000...

Pros: build quality, value for money Cons: road noise could be less
Bought a low mileage (140,000 km) 1988 Si Prelude 2 years ago, after getting a near 300,000 km out of a 1985 prelude
and am very convinced that this is a excellent used car built with quality.
The Si model is the one to get with more power than the base model. A great car for many uses, I have a bicycle rack and a roof rack that I can get 2 kayaks on.
Honda built quality makes this a winner car, you can't get better value for your money. A bonus is this is a fun car to drive and is reliable and the total package of handling, sportiness and comfort(the seats are fantastic!) inspires confidence in this car.
