A Critical Review

by
Jul 30, 2008 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fun, easy ragtop, great handling, excellent gas mileage, just a fun and reliable car
Cons: underpowered engine, weak rear end, not a macho car.
The Bottom Line: Excellent handling barely disguised fun little track car, once you've breathed some life into the woefully inadequate engine with aftermarket parts.

I am the proud owner of a Red 1990 Mazda Miata, MX-5. what drew me to the car initially was its smaller size, great body lines, and the fact that it is a convertible. I purchased my miata several years ago for about $3,000USD, and the smile hasn't ... read more

Pros: Reliable, Fuel efficient, fun to drive, lots of mod options
Cons: Terrible in the snow, poor visibility through rear screen, can be cramped.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a reliable and fuel efficient convertible then this is it. Also great for those looking for an insane racing machine.

The 1990 Mazda Miata MX-5 has often been considered one of the best cars that Mazda has introduced as this is the car that has started one of their best selling models. 17 years later and the cars are still being produced. Right, now for some ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: An unbreakable car.
Cons: Beware the 1990 model.
The Bottom Line: The greatest value in the history of sports cars,

By now, everyone knows the virtues of the Miata, and if this review seems incomplete, it's because I don't want to repeat what everyone else has already said. So I will only add what I think has yet to be mentioned. Here it is: THE BAD CRANK -- The 1990 ... read more

This is what I've always wanted...

by
Jul 30, 2002 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Incredibly compact, upgrade affordability, awesome handling, great looks, peppy acceleration
Cons: Cons? What cons? :) Maybe a little more horsepower, but new Miatas have it.
The Bottom Line: Practicality doesn't even begin to apply, but MY GOD, this car is the best thing I've EVER driven!

Now, as you're reading this review, keep in mind that a 150" long, 4-foot tall RED-red convertible looks totally different in the eyes of a teenager than it does in the eyes of, say, someone with practical considerations such as how in the world they're ... read more

Pros: Lasts Forever, Great Car!
Cons: No Cup Holder.
The Bottom Line: Buy it used. Mine have 167,000 miles.

I just bought one used with 167,000 miles. I am not sure how many times it has been in the shop, but man that is a lot of miles, and it still runs great. Clutch is very tough though. But the air condition blows cold. All the options work fine. ... read more

Hi, this review is based on my 1990 Mazda Miata. Other's may differ. The Miata is a beautiful, sporty car. For men, you'll probably be criticized for owning one. Most of my other male friends tell me it's a chick car. There is great ... read more

I bought my 1990 Miata in 1994, a year before I graduated from college. My parents made the down payment as my graduation gift, and my payments were only about $240 a month. We did this even before I graduated because it was such a great car, and they ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Blast to drive, reliability, exhaust note

All my guy friends called my red Miata a 'chick car' but they just didn't understand. This car is not about horsepower, zero to sixty times or drag racing that guy in the Trans Am. This car is about style, balance and delightful road manners. ... read more

The first time I saw a Miata I was spellbound. I wasn't sure what it was and I didn't want to get to close. I was afraid someone would be guarding it and jump out and yell at me. Besides, I'm a woman and gushing over a strange car seems like a ... read more

My '90 Mx-6 has been a trusted friend. Not surprising since I purchased it from a good family friend. I bought it with 100,000 miles on it. Considering its high miles, I didn't expect too much. It was cheap and I needed a car. Now four years later and ... read more

My Miata has just turned over 154,000 miles. It is an early build 1.6 litre with a replaced crank (watch for this issue in the 90's and 91's). Other than the crank, this car has been nothing short of spectacular! I store it in the winter, and drive it ... read more
