Mar 3, 2007 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Legroom, starts up when you need it to, and a good laugh.
Cons: No storage, bad brakes, slow, fat, heavy, ugly, embarassing, and etc;
The Bottom Line: DONT BUY THIS CAR! IT IS A DISAPPOINTMENT!...AND NEVER LET ANYONE PUT A PLASTIC FISH ON IT!

Okay, I have owned my car for about...6 months. 6 months too long. It's great for a big family with a little bit of money, but my thoughts are that even they wouldn't have to resort to this hunka junk. My great grandpa died and left me his car...thanks. ... read more

1991 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1L

by
Nov 5, 2005 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: few blind spots; reliable; sporty; the BOSE speakers really last
Cons: factory tape radio/tape deck; no cup holders; no air bags
The Bottom Line: I love this car, but age is getting the best of it. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

I purchased my 1991 2-door Euro with the 3.1 L engine in 1999 with 121,000 miles and drove it almost daily for five years. It's a reliable vehicle. The gas mileage is around 28 mpg on the highway (I have a leadfoot, but my boyfriend could coax 30-32 ... read more

Nothing but trouble

by
Apr 26, 2003 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 10 Recommended: No

Pros: Comfortable seats, engine power, trunk space
Cons: Reliability, brakes
The Bottom Line: I may have just had a lemon, but from talking to as many mechanics I did they all said the 3.1 did have some problems.

I bought my Lumina in 1998 for driving to college and back, about a three hour trip. When I bought it, it was a very clean low mileage vehicle with only 36,xxx miles on it. I purchased it during the summer when the weather is relatively nice. Being ... read more

A very practical chevy

by
Jan 30, 2002 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Pretty reliable, pretty powerful, and very pretty
Cons: very odd dash, uncomfortable seats, very bouncy ride, loud engine
The Bottom Line: IF you want a good decent around-the-town family sedan without the large price tag and the reliability, the lumina would be a great choice.

MY friend bought this car about 2 years a go, and I have to say, this car has been through a lot. MY friend is not very gentle with cars, he hits the gas a lot, and drives too fast. This car just takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The engine is the ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 30 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Easy access to components once you know the trick, freeway stability...
Cons: Lots of minor inconveniences, finding a reliable alternator
The Bottom Line: Good car for freeway trips, some shortcomings

I no longer own this car but did for a long time and got to know it's quirks quite well. First though, some opinions on comfort, style, and driveability. The Chevrolet Lumina shares a chassis with the Pontiac Grand Prix, Buick Regal, and ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Good engine
Cons: Horrible brakes, leaky trunk
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend this car, it has left me stranded more than once.

I bought my Chevy Lumina Euro new in 1991. It has had numerous problems since I purchased it. I have sank so much money into fixing this car, that I have not been able to purchase a new one yet. After my car sat in the rain one night, I took it shopping ... read more

Very Reliable

Nov 28, 2000 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very Inexpensive to Operate
Cons: Occasional Brake Noise

I bought my 1991 Lumina Euro 3.1L V-6 because I wanted something a little sporty that I could still get my kids into. I also live in Michigan, so I wanted front-wheel drive. When I purchased this car in 1995 it had 52,000 miles on it, now it currently ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Easy and Fun to Drive
Cons: They don't make them like this anymore

We bought this car used last year. It had 83,000 miles on it already, but still looked and ran great. Not much has changed, except now it has 104,000 miles, and still counting. This is a perfect family sedan. All of our three kids fit comfortably in ... read more

This car is a tank

by
Sep 9, 2000 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Easy to drive, good handling, fun to drive, its like a tank - you can do whatever you want with it.
Cons: Could use a slightly larger engine (which is an option).

I have a 1991 Lumina four door sedan model. Its a tank. I've put it through so much abuse, and it still runs great. Still has close to original acceleration and braking power - at 80,000 miles. My 91 Lumina (I also have 1996 :-)) is my ... read more

The Blue Bomber

by
Aug 18, 2000 - Updated Jan 19, 2001 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Rock-Solid Freeway Ride; Torquey Motor; Entertaining in Curves
Cons: Floppy and Squeaky; Pig in a Parking Lot
The Bottom Line: A solid buy if you want a stable freeway platform that's somewhat entertaining on curves, as long as you don't mind putting up with some flopping and squeaking.

In the fall of 1997, our car was a rusted-out hulk of a 1985 Cavalier that was just safe enough to run for groceries, but not much more than that. It was getting pretty clear -- we either needed another car, or the one we had was going to bite us. We ... read more

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Exhaust sound, big car, comfortable, powerful engine, handles great
Cons: Brakes and wind noise.

I have a '91 Chev Lumina 4 door Euro with the 3.1L V6 putting out 140hp. I love the way my car looks, but the reliability of the brakes are awful. Lately I have been very lucky with brakes and have only had to take it in 4 or 5 times over the winter (I ... read more

by
Mar 15, 2000 (A Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: good ride and feel to it
Cons: tight fit for long legged people

I purchased my 1991 Chevy Lumina used, but it has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. It's small enough where I don't feel like I'm driving a truck, yet roomy enough to fit 5-6 people. It has a smooth ride, with a comfortable interior. ... read more

'91-'92 Lumina rear brakes a hazard!

by
Mar 10, 2000 (A Very Helpful review)

Author's Product Rating: 20 Recommended: No

Pros: Ample power from 3.1L, feels rock solid at highway speeds+, parts are cheap.
Cons: Rear brakes corrode and fail quickly, cramped engine compartment makes maintenance difficult, delicate transmission.

This may be the first case when Chevy over designed a brake system. The rear brakes on Chevy's '91-'92 Luminas, before they introduced the anti-lock system on the model, are over designed to the point of being too delicate. When the car is driven ... read more

Pros: space, comfort, brakes, easy access to wires, good on gas
Cons: E-brake never worked, suspension, alternator, horse power too low
This car with some minor problems was a great car. Two big problems, when you get on the gas from a stop, it stays in first gear too long before shifting. Second the suspension went out after 40k miles. Good points to this car, if you took it easy, I've ... read more

Pros: Plenty of power. Gas Mileage. Exhaust note. Very Comfortable.
Cons: Brakes
I bought my 1991 Chevy Lumina off an elderly couple back in 1999. With only 36,000 miles on it. I was pleased with the car. Nothing major ever went wrong with it. Of course I did the routine tune ups and oil changes on it. I found it very comfortable and ... read more

Pros: good looking, good handling,
Cons: wish they had more horsepower, and the dashes always curl up around the defroster vent
I own a 91 2 door euro, and really its not a bad car except for some problems with brake lights that i finally traced to the turn signal switch. the car handles well, seems to have adequate torque, and does not do too bad on gas. i now have over 160k but ... read more
